Abstract: Let (C, ⊗, 1) be an abelian symmetric monoidal category satisfying certain conditions and let X be a
scheme over (C, ⊗, 1) in the sense of Toën and Vaquié. In this paper, we construct torsion theories on the categories
OX − M od and QCoh(X) respectively of OX -modules and quasi-coherent sheaves on X, when X is Noetherian
and integral over (C, ⊗, 1). Thereafter, we study these torsion theories with respect to the quasi-coherator QX :
OX − M od −→ QCoh(X) that is right adjoint to the inclusion iX : QCoh(X) −→ OX − M od. Finally, we obtain
an alternative description of the quasi-coherator QX (F) as a subsheaf of F, when F ∈ OX − M od satisfies certain
conditions. Along the way, we present further results on the notions of “Noetherian” and “integral” for schemes over
(C, ⊗, 1) that we believe to be of independent interest.

Abstract: In this paper, we define a category M g otC of motives over a symmetric monoidal category (C, ⊗, 1) satis-
fying certain conditions. The role of spaces over (C, ⊗, 1) is played by monoid objects (not necessarily commutative)
in C. To define morphisms in the category M g otC , we use classes in bivariant cyclic homology groups. The purpose
is to show that the Connes periodicity operators induce morphisms M ⊗ T⊗2 −→ M in M g otC , where T is the Tate
motive in M otC .

[ AG 2.1.5 ] Localization of monoid objects and Hochschild homology: Communications in Algebra, Vol.
42, No. 10, 4548–4558 (2014).
Abstract: Let A be a (not necessarily commutative) monoid object in an abelian symmetric monoidal category
(C, ⊗, 1) satisfying certain conditions. In this paper, we continue our study of the localization MS of any A-module
M with respect to a subset S ⊆ HomA−Bimod (A, A) that is closed under composition. In particular, we prove the
following theorem: if P is an A-bimodule such that P is symmetric as a bimodule over the center Z(A) of A, we
have isomorphisms HH∗ (A, P )S ∼ = HH∗ (A, PS ) ∼ = HH∗ (AS , PS ) of Hochschild homology groups.

Vol. 255 (2012), No. 1, 25–40 (2012).
Abstract: A well known result of Deligne shows that an affine commutative group scheme of rank r is annihilated
by its rank. The purpose of this paper is to extend this result to affine group schemes over symmetric monoidal
categories.

Abstract: Given a monoid object A in a symmetric monoidal category (C, ⊗, 1), we associate a commutative monoid
z(A) := HomA−Bimod (A, A), which we refer to as the set of central elements of A. If A has a centre Z(A) in C,
we describe an isomorphism z(A) = HomA−Bimod (A, A) ∼ = HomZ(A)−M od (Z(A), Z(A)). When C is closed and
complete, we show that every subset S ⊆ HomA−M od (A, A) has a centraliser ZA (S) which is a Z(A)-algebra and
under certain conditions, we show that ZA (HomA−M od (A, A)) = Z(A). Further, for any multiplicatively closed set
S ⊆ z(A), we define the localisation MS of any right A-module M with respect to S and show that several properties
of classical localisation extend to this context.
[ AG 2.1.2 ] Derived Schemes and the Field with one element: Journal de Mathématiques Pures et Ap-
pliquées Vol 97, No. 3, 189–203 (2012).
Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to define derived schemes over F1 , the “field with one element”. More
generally, we define our derived algebraic geometry over a symmetric monoidal category (C, ⊗, 1) by adapting the
constructions of Lurie. In particular, the derived schemes over F1 are obtained by choosing C to be the category of
sets. For an arbitrary derived scheme X = (X , O) over C, we also construct a “Picard group” and show that the
Picard group is abelian. Further, when G is a (commutative and cocommutative) “Hopf object” that plays the role
of abelian groups in an arbitrary symmetric monoidal category C, we show that there exists an “equivariant version”
of the derived schemes over C. We also suggest a topological counterpart for the construction of F1 -derived schemes,
which we refer to as T1 (k)-derived schemes, k being an algebraically closed field. This is motivated by the fact that
the S-modules in the category of schemes over k are the topological counterpart for Z-modules.
[ AG 2.1.1 ] The relative Picard Functor on Schemes over a symmetric monoidal category: Bulletin des
Sciences Mathématiques. Vol. 135, 400–419 (2011).
Abstract: We consider schemes (X, OX ) over an abelian closed symmetric monoidal category (C, ⊗, 1). Our aim is
to extend a theorem of Kleiman on the relative Picard functor to schemes over (C, ⊗, 1). For this purpose, we also
develop some basic theory on quasi-coherent modules on schemes (X, OX ) over C. Another of the interesting aspects
is to find suitable substitutes for key notions in ordinary algebraic geometry (and commutative algebra) such as the
Noetherian condition, affine morphisms, quasi-compact morphisms, separated morphisms, morphisms of finite type
etc.

for this theory. We also relate these to measurings of the universal enveloping algebra UO (A) of an O-algebra A and
the modules over it. Finally, we describe the Sweedler product C B A of a coalgebra C and an O-algebra A. The
object C B A is universal among O-algebras that arise as targets of C-measurings starting from A.
[ AG 2.2.8 ] (with M. Balodi and S. Ray) Entwined modules over linear categories and Galois extensions:
Israel Journal of Mathematics, Vol. 241, 623–692 (2021).
Abstract: In this paper, we study modules over quotient spaces of certain categorified fiber bundles. These are
understood as modules over entwining structures involving a small K-linear category D and a K-coalgebra C. We
obtain Frobenius and separability conditions for functors on entwined modules. We also introduce the notion of a
C-Galois extension E ⊆ D of categories. Under suitable conditions, we show that entwined modules over a C-Galois
extension may be described as modules over the subcategory E of C-coinvariants of D.
[ AG 2.2.7 ] F I-modules over preadditive categories and torsion theories: Journal of Pure and Applied
Algebra, Vol. 225 (2021), 106595.
Abstract: We work with F I-modules over a small preadditive category R, viewed as a ring with several objects.
Our aim is to study torsion theories for F I-modules. We are especially interested in torsion theories on finitely
generated F I-modules and the category of what we call “shift finitely generated” F I-modules. We also apply these
methods to study inductive descriptions of F I-modules over R.
[ AG 2.2.6 ] (with M. Balodi and S. Ray) Cohomology of modules over H-categories and
co-H-categories: Canadian Journal of Mathematics, Vol. 72, No. 5, 1352–1385 (2020).
Abstract: Let H be a Hopf algebra. We consider H-equivariant modules over a Hopf module category C as modules
over the smash extension C#H. We construct Grothendieck spectral sequences for the cohomologies as well as
the H-locally finite cohomologies of these objects. We also introduce relative (D, H)-Hopf modules over a Hopf
comodule category D. These generalize relative (A, H)-Hopf modules over an H-comodule algebra A. We construct
Grothendieck spectral sequences for their cohomologies by using their rational Hom objects and higher derived
functors of coinvariants.
[ AG 2.2.5 ] On differential torsion theories and rings with several objects: Canadian Mathematical
Bulletin, Vol. 62, No. 4 (2019) 703–714.
Abstract: Let R be a small preadditive category, viewed as a ‘ring with several objects.’ A right R-module is an
additive functor from Rop to the category Ab of abelian groups. We show that every hereditary torsion theory on
the category (Rop , Ab) of right R-modules must be differential.

Abstract: We give several new ways of constructing spectral spaces starting with objects in abelian categories
satisfying certain conditions which apply, in particular, to Grothendieck categories. For this, we consider the spaces
of invariants of closure operators acting on subobjects of a given object. The key to our results is a newly discovered
criterion of Finocchiaro that uses ultrafilters to identify spectral spaces along with subbases of quasi-compact open
sets.
[ AG 2.2.2 ] Some remarks on a theorem of Bergman: C. R. Math. Acad. Sci. Paris, Vol. 354, No. 7, 665–670
(2016).
Abstract: We extend a result of Bergman to show that any object in an arbitrary Grothendieck category may be
expressed as an inverse limit of injectives. We also study inverse systems of κ-injective objects, where κ is an infinite
regular cardinal.
[ AG 2.2.1 ] Lifting of model structures to fibred categories: Homology, Homotopy and Applications,
Vol. 13. No. 2, 1–17 (2011).
Abstract: A fibred category consists of a functor p : N −→ M between categories N and M such that objects of
N may be “pulled back along any arrow of M”. Fibred categories, which first appeared in SGA-I, can be used to
describe a large class of objects, such as the category of presheaves over a given category or the category of vector
bundles over topological spaces. Given a fibred category p : N −→ M and a model structure on the “base category”
M, we show that there exists a lifting of the model structure on M to a model structure on N. We will refer to such
a system as a “fibred model category” and give several examples of such structures. We show that, under certain
conditions, right homotopies of maps in the base category M may be lifted to right homotopic maps in the fibred
category. We also show that these lifted model structures are well behaved with respect to Quillen adjunctions and
Quillen equivalences. Finally, we show that if N and M carry compatible closed monoidal structures and the functor
p commutes with colimits, then a Quillen bifunctor on M lifts to a Quillen bifunctor on N.

Abstract: In this paper, we apply some methods from ring theory to the framework of prime ideals in tensor
triangulated categories developed by Balmer. Given a thick tensor ideal A and a multiplicatively closed family S
of objects in a tensor triangulated category (C, ⊗, 1), we say that a prime ideal P realizes (A, S) if P ⊇ A and
P ∩ S = φ. Analogous to the results of Bergman with ordinary rings, we show how to construct a realization of a
family {(Ai , Si )}i∈I of such pairs indexed by a finite chain I, i.e., a collection {Pi }i∈I of prime ideals such that each
Pi realizes (Ai , Si ) and Pi ⊆ Pj for each i ≤ j in I. Thereafter we obtain conditions on a family F of thick tensor
ideals of (C, ⊗, 1) so that any ideal that is maximal with respect to not being contained in F must be prime. This
extends the Prime Ideal Principle of Lam and Reyes from commutative algebra. We also combine these methods to
consider realizations of templates {(Ai , Fi )}i∈I where each Ai is a thick tensor ideal and each Fi is a family of thick
tensor ideals that is also a monoidal semifilter.

operators of level Γ over C, where Γ is a principal congruence subgroup. These product structures are then shown to
be well behaved with respect to Hopf actions on A(Γ)[C]. While A(Γ)[C] already carries an action of the Hopf algebra
H1 of codimension 1-foliations, the noncommutativity of the modular incidence algebra M[C] allows us to construct
additional operators on A(Γ)[C]. The use of Möbius categories provides a single framework for describing modular
Hecke operators taking values in various rings: from formal power series rings over M to arithmetic functions over M
and algebras of upper triangular matrices with entries in M. Moreover, we use functors between Möbius categories
to study relations between various modular Hecke algebras.
[ NCG 3.1.4 ] Quasimodular Hecke algebras and Hopf actions: Journal of Noncommutative Geometry, Vol.
12, No. 3, (2018), 1041–1080.
Abstract: Let Γ = Γ(N ) be a principal congruence subgroup of SL2 (Z). In this paper, we extend the theory of
modular Hecke algebras due to Connes and Moscovici to define the algebra Q(Γ) of quasimodular Hecke operators
of level Γ. Then, Q(Γ) carries an action of “the Hopf algebra H1 of codimension 1 foliations” that also acts on the
modular Hecke algebra A(Γ) of Connes and Moscovici. However, in the case of quasimodular forms, we have several
new operators acting on the quasimodular Hecke algebra Q(Γ). Further, for each σ ∈ SL2 (Z), we introduce the
collection Qσ (Γ) of quasimodular Hecke operators of level Γ twisted by σ. Then, Qσ (Γ) is a right Q(Γ)-module and
is endowed with a pairing ( , ) : Qσ (Γ) ⊗ Qσ (Γ) −→ Qσ (Γ). We show that there is a “Hopf action” of a certain
Hopf algebra h1 on the pairing on Qσ (Γ). Finally, for any σ ∈ SL 2 (Z),
we consider operators acting between the
1 m
levels of the graded module Qσ (Γ) = ⊕ Qσ(m) (Γ), where σ(m) = · σ for any m ∈ Z. The pairing on Qσ (Γ)
m∈Z 0 1
can be extended to a graded pairing on Qσ (Γ) and we show that there is a Hopf action of a larger Hopf algebra
hZ ⊇ h1 on the pairing on Qσ (Γ).

[ NCG 3.1.2 ] Hecke operators on Line bundles over Modular Curves: Journal of Number Theory, Vol.
132, No. 4, 714–734. (2012)
Abstract: Given a congruence subgroup Γ = Γ(M ) ⊆ SL2 (Z), Connes and Moscovici have introduced a modular
Hecke algebra A(Γ) that incorporates both the pointwise multiplicative structure of modular forms and the action
of the classical Hecke operators. It is well known that a Γ-modular form g of weight k may be desrcibed as a global
section of the k-th tensor power of a certain line bundle p(Γ) : L(Γ) −→ Γ\H. The purpose of this paper is to develop
a theory of modular Hecke algebras for Hecke correspondences between the line bundles L(Γ) that lift the classical
Hecke correspondences between modular curves Γ\H.

[ NCG 3.1.1 ] Hopf Action and Rankin-Cohen Brackets on an Archimedean Complex: Journal of Noncom-
mutative Geometry Vol. 5, No. 3, 401–421. (2011).
Abstract: The Hopf algebra H1 of “codimension 1 foliations”, generated by operators X, Y and δn , n ≥ 1, satisfying
certain conditions, was introduced by Connes and Moscovici who showed that, for any congruence subgroup Γ of
SL2 (Z), the action of H1 on the “modular Hecke algebra” A(Γ) captures classical operators on modular forms. In
this paper, we show that the action of H1 captures the monodromy and Frobenius actions on a certain module B∗ (Γ)
that arises from the archimedean complex of Consani. The object B∗ (Γ) replaces the modular Hecke algebra A(Γ)
in our theory. We also introduce a “restricted” version B∗r (Γ) of the module B∗ (Γ) on which the operators δn , n ≥ 1
of the Hopf algebra H1 act as zero. Thereafter, we construct Rankin-Cohen brackets of all orders on B∗r (Γ).

Abstract: In this paper, we develop the theory of modules over (A, δ), where A is an algebra and δ : A −→ A is a
derivation. Our approach is heavily influenced by Lie derivative operators in noncommutative geometry, which make
the Hochschild homologies HH• (A) of A into a module over (A, δ). We also consider modules over (A, ∆), where
∆ = {∆n }n≥0 is a higher derivation on A. Further, we obtain a Cartan homotopy formula for an arbitrary higher

HH∗ (X/S). In particular, we show that HH∗ (X/S) = ⊕n∈Z HHn (X/S) carries the structure of a graded algebra.

No. 2, 33–43. (2011).
Abstract: Let K be a commutative ring and let A be a K-algebra. A K-linear derivation D on A induces a morphism
LD on the Hochschild and cyclic homologies of A, which is the analogue of the Lie derivative in noncommutative
geometry. In this paper, we extend this to higher (or Hasse-Schmidt) derivations on A.

Abstract: In this paper, we consider an algebraic degeneration of a variety over a disc and its archimedean coun-
terpart, which involves the fibre at infinity of an arithmetic variety. Furthermore, the monodromy operator in the
case of the disc has an archimedean counterpart and we show that, the monodromy operator (resp. its archimedean
counterpart) may be seen as corresponding to the periodicity operator in cyclic homology (resp. cyclic cohomology).
In the former case, we work with the periodicity on the cyclic (hyper)homology of a sheaf of differential operators.
In the latter case, we work with the periodicity in the cyclic cohomology of the ring of differential operators. Finally,
we use our understanding to construct an archimedean counterpart of the complex of nearby cycles.

Abstract: Hopf cyclic cohomology HC(δ,σ) (H) for a Hopf algebra H with respect to a modular pair in involution
(δ, σ) was introduced by Connes and Moscovici. By a biderivation D on a Hopf algebra H, we shall mean a
linear map that satisfies the axioms for both a derivation and a coderivation on H. Given a biderivation D on a
∗ ∗
Hopf algebra, we define, under certain conditions, a map LD : HC(δ,σ) (H) −→ HC(δ,σ) (H). We give examples of
such maps for the quantized universal enveloping algebra Uh (g) of a simple Lie algebra g. When H is irreducible,
cocommutative and equipped with a character δ such that (δ, 1) is a modular pair in involution, we define “inner
∗
biderivations” and use these to produce a left H-module structure on HC(δ,1) (H). Finally, we show that every
∗ ∗
morphism LD : HC(δ,1) (H) −→ HC(δ,1) (H) induced by a biderivation D on such a Hopf algebra H can be realized
as a morphism induced by an inner biderivation by embedding H into a larger Hopf algebra H[D].

Paris, Vol. 347, No. 17-18, pp 997-1000, (2009).
Abstract: The formula LD = [eD + ED , b + B] on the normalized Hochschild complex is the standard replacement
in noncommutative geometry for the classical Cartan homotopy formula. In this paper, we extend this formula to
the normalized bivariant Hochschild complex.

Abstract: Let R be a commutative ring. If A ⊆ R is an ideal and F is a monoidal semifilter of ideals in R, we say
that a prime ideal P is a realization of (A, F) if P ⊇ A and P ∈ / F. We give if and only if conditions for the existence
of a realization of a family {(At , Ft )}t∈T of such pairs indexed by a finite rooted tree T . We also apply our results
to trees of prime ideals outside a given monoidal semifilter in a tensor product of algebras.

monoı̈dales symétriques: Bulletin of the Belgian Mathematical Society, Vol. 23, No. 1, 151–160 (2016).
Abstract: In this paper, we construct the exponential morphism eD : A −→ A associated to a locally nilpotent
derivation D on a monoid A in a symmetric monoidal category. Further, we show that the kernel of D is identical
to the subobject of A invariant under eD . Finally, we study how to extend a locally nilpotent derivation on A to its
localization AS , where S ⊆ HomA−M od (A, A) is a multiplicatively closed subset.
[ MISC 4.6 ] Nearby cycles and the Dold-Kan correspondence : Communications in Algebra, Vol. 43, No.

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to develop the formalism of nearby cycles for simplicial sheaves of abelian
groups. In doing so, we utilize the cohomology groups of simplicial sheaves introduced by Brown and Gersten. A
key role in our constructions is played by the Dold-Kan correspondence.

Abstract: We define the Lie transformation algebra of a (not necessarily associative) monoid object A in a C-linear
symmetric monoidal category (C, ⊗, 1). When A is associative and satisfies certain conditions, we describe explicity
the Lie transformation algebra and inner derivations of A. Additionally, we also show that derivations preserve the
nucleus of the monoid A.

Abstract: In this paper, we prove a long exact sequence involving the algebraic, topological and relative K-theory
groups for a sheaf of Fréchet algebras or ultrametric Banach algebras on a scheme X under certain conditions. This
extends to sheaves the construction due to A. Connes and M. Karoubi of the relative K-theory group K∗rel (A) and
the associated K-theory long exact sequence for a Fréchet algebra A. In doing so, we make use of the generalized
sheaf cohomology for simplicial sheaves developed by Brown and Gersten.

36, No. 3, pp 1067–1077, (2008).
Abstract: In this paper, we study the regularity properties of elements of a ring with respect to a given ideal I.
As expected, several concepts that are equivalent in the case of I = R turn out to be distinct for a general ideal I
and we consider the relations between these properties. In particular, we replace the set of units U (R) of the ring R
by the set UI (R) = {u|uI = Iu = I} and use these relative units to obtain generalizations of notions such as stable
range and unit-regularity. We also see that on assuming the set of relative units to have no zero divisors, we can
obtain several new results.
[ MISC 4.1 ] Unique Factorization and Ring Extensions: International Journal of Pure and Applied Math-
ematics, Vol. 26, No.4, pp 457–464, (2006).
Abstract: Let R denote a Noetherian integral domain and let K(R) be the field of fractions of R. We refer to a
Noetherian overring S of R, R ⊆ S ⊆ K(R) as an essential factor extension of R if (1) every prime element of R
remains prime in S; (2) for every prime element q of S there exist a prime element p of R and a unit u of S such that
q = up; and (3) if R 6= S, some non-unit of R becomes a unit in S. Then, we show that R is a unique factorization
domain if and only if R has no proper essential factor extensions.
