Home Remedies for Prevention and Curing of Cancer

Abstract
Traditional cancer-fighting food could lower the risk and prevention of cancer. Calories
and nutrients are mostly preferred to stay healthy. Proper nutrition can aid humans to be
reliable. Many customary home remedies have forgotten by future cohorts are reminded
by Black cumin seeds, turmeric, South Indian Soup (Rasam), thiripala, carrot,
NithyaKalyani, and citrus fruits. This paper provides some glimpse of organic remedies
that connects oneself with nature without loss. The World Health Organization’s
International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) clarifies food and drink contains
carcinogen would cause cancer. It also recommended Vitamin C with rich anti-oxidant
foods will prevent and cure significant cancer cells. This review is an attempt to shed
light on some of the healthy home foods to heal and assists humans to lead a sturdy,
balanced life.

1. Introduction
A scarce cell growth which quickly spread to further portions of the physique with
multiple groups of ailments is called Cancer. It is also named as malignant tumour or
malignancy [1]. More than a hundred types of Cancer affect human. Two-two percentage
of cancer death mainly occurred through tobacco consumption, ten percent happen
because of poor diet, obesity, absence of physical work and alcohol consumption. Another
fifteen percent cause through infection and ten to fifteen percent of Cancer inherited by
the genes from their parents [2]. Twenty-seven point three percent of Cancer mainly cause
due to radiation exposure and environmental pollution. Peculiar signs and symptoms help
to detect Cancer through biopsy and screening test. Worldwide in the year, 2015 ninety
point five million people deducted by Cancer and the death rate was about eight point
eight million and it is around fifteen point seven percent [3] [4]. World Health
Organization in the year 2018 announced nine point six million people have died due to
Cancer[5][6].

In olden days medicines for cancer is meagre. Due to the advancement of medical
technology, lakes of cancer patients are recovering fast and obtaining zeal of health. Many
diseases are treatable and preventable in the early deduction. But a certain percentage of
people are not even saved from the medicine majorly due to negligence [7]. For example,
some ladies are reluctant to tell the doctor they have a tumour in their breast. The first
identification helps to cure the disease quickly but later diagnosis may lead to having less
chance. So it is necessary to find a remedy for any illness in its embryonic stage. Some
breast cancer has triple negatives like ER, PR and HER2. If one of the genes have
positive, it is easy to attack the disease [8]. Though all three genes have negative, the
latest medicine tries to cure the patients through chemotherapy [9].
Traditional Tamil medicine majorly cures all types of cancer through its home
remedies. Some of the remedial home foods used for healing and preventing disease are
black cumin, turmeric, Indian soup (rasam), thiripala, carrot, Nithyakalyani (Madagascar
periwinkle), citrus fruits (lemon, orange and black seed grapes), Flaxseed, venpoosani
(pumpkin), vilvam, tomato, garlic, avarampoo, strawberry, spinach, Broccoli, beans,
berries, cinnamon, nuts, olive oil, fatty fish, home-made foods, regular exercise and
healthy diet. One must avoid plastic, maida, Jung and hotel foods, tobacco, smoking and
drinking habits [10].

2. Black Cumin
For curing human cancer, black cumin seed plays a vital part. It is also called as
Nigella Sativa. It is one of the promising home remedies for anti-cancer. Black Cumin
seed tries to prevent and cure cancer by inactivation of aggressive cell growth, tumour
suppression and promote activation of molecular pathways. Black seed oil is also used for
therapeutic purposes. It improves skin condition, cure cancer and diabetics, infertility,
liver and kidney disease, hypertension, control high cholesterol and help to reduce weight
naturally without side effects. Black seed oil thymoquinone activates cell death in brain
cancer, breast cancer, bladder, pancreatic, lung, skin, colon cancer and leukaemia [11].
Four primary pharmacological components found in black cumin oil are
thymoquinone (TQ), dithymoquinone (DTQ), thymohydroquinone (THQ), and thymol
(THY). It serves as an anti-oxidant and anti-carcinogenic. It is pungent in odour. The easy
way to use it as a medicine is to add a spoon of black cumin in a litre of water and boil it
thoroughly for five minutes and drink it in an empty stomach. Or add two spoons of black
cumin seed in one litre of water at night and drink in the empty stomach regularly. It
serves as an effective drug and does wonders in curing many sugar patients. Sugar and
cancer are inter-related diseases. Insulin-like growth factor induces in the person who is
having abnormal sugar. IGF level increases in the patient stimulate insulin to control
sugar. It produces sugar simultaneously, and it develops as cancer, especially in breast
and intentional parts of the body [12]. Thus, the primary purpose of black cumin seed is to
reduce IGF level and control cancer. Many patients vexed by taking so many medicines
for sugar and disease find a solution by taking black cumin seeds [13].

3. Turmeric
Recently scientists have researched the possibilities of curing cancer through
turmeric. Anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antioxidant, antimicrobial and antioxidant
properties of curcumin could fight against a specific type of cancer like pancreatic,
prostate, bone marrow, blood, breast, lung and stomach. The anti-cancer curcumin will
use alone or with other medicines. It helps to eliminate harmful proteins and stop the
nutrients delivered to tumours and cancer cells. It is very famous in Erode district at
Tamil Nadu. Many people do not formally know how to use turmeric ignorant people buy
it in a packet and use it in the kitchen. It may create side effects. The primary way to get
full advantage of turmeric is too grand it at home without adding preservatives and adds it
in cooking. The extract evolved from turmeric is curcumin is an anti-cancer drug and is
also used for disinfection. A kind of blood cancer is occurred in plasma still not curable is
multiple myeloma. In future curcumin is to be the potential drug for myeloma. Instead of
spending more money and taking in a capsule form, it is easy to use in daily cooking may
prevent and cure any diseases.

4. Indian soup (Rasam)

The traditional South Indian soup Rasam is an excellent medicine for curing and
prevention diseases like cancer, digestion problems, constipation and anaemia. It is anti-
oxidative and the major ingredients in rasam are Water, tamarind pulp, salt, tomato,
Rasam powder (pepper+cumin+garlic), Coriander leaf, Curry leaf, turmeric powder,
asafetida, chilly, and mustard. It contains essential vitamins, proteins, minerals and
antioxidants like folic acid, thiamin, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, niacin and riboflavin. Rasam
holds a tremendous resource of minerals like potassium, zinc, calcium, iron, selenium,
copper and magnesium. By adding rasam in regular dietary helps to kill cancerous cells
and encourages digestion.Piperine in black pepper and curcumin in turmeric serves as
delicious food and it aids to maintain body metabolism properly.
The spicy pepper would stimulate the blood flow, which would help to observe
turmeric in the human body. But the traditional rasam is boycotted and many prefer other
unhealthy foods. Parents have to insist on children to rake rasam in their daily food habits
to get a healthy lifestyle. Chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) cancer in white blood cells
majorly come to the people who are fifty years and above but currently around eight
hundred patients at the age of thirty-five tormented by this cancer because of their
reduced dietary. Many Tamilians forgot their traditional homemade foods and followed
an unhealthy lifestyle and become worse in health. In Tamilian genetic makeup, the
traditional food of the region is suitable for their health. Taking parota is not adverse but
continuous taking of maida induces cancer and severely affects their metabolism. By
consuming fiber-containing food could prevent breast and intestine cancer. It is a
scientifically proven fact that a healthy diet would prevent austere diseases [14] [15].

5. Thiripala
Three ingredients poly-herbal Ayurvedic medicine is made up of native Indian
fruits as Bibhitaki, Amalaki, and Haritaki. Centuries old Ayurvedic medicine stimulates
the immune system, detoxify the body, support digestion and bowel health. Proper use of
thiripala would cure cancer, AIDS, pneumonia, gastric distress and strengthen the
immune system. Thiripala is available as a pill and liquid extract. It is better to take it as a
supplement in an empty stomach. Thiripala powder is dissolved in warm water and
consume as tea. The bitter taste of thiripala is made better by adding honey or lemon.
People use it like mouthwash for oral cancer. Thiripala extract mouth rise would also
reduce cavities, bleeding gums, gingivitis and plague. It is used as a skin protectant and
reduces diabetics, constipation and it would minimize blood glucose level. A recent study

in vitro laboratory proved that thiripala have methanol extract and anti-carcinogenic
properties aid to diminish cancer-inducing cell and kills cancer cells in colon cancer.

6. Carrot
Stage four cancer patients got cured by continuous taking of carrot juice without
chemo or radiotherapy. Scientific evidence was given by Ann Cameron that carrot
treatment would prevent and cure en number of cancer patients. Carrot has the power to
kill defective cells and develops natural power to regulate body growth. The pro-cancer
genes were silenced by the healthy food nutrients. Researchers found twenty-six percent
risk of stomach cancer was lowered by drinking carrot juice. Carrot helps to self-destruct
leukaemia cells and cancer-causing cell cycle. Three weeks of continuous consumption of
carrot juice at eight-ounce would induce a higher level of carotenoids and reduce
oxidative stress. Freshly squeezed carrot juice is recommended.
The research conducted in the year 2016 revealed carrot has Vitamin C, which
would cure chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Carrot has rich nutrients like
Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Carotene and potassium. United States Department of
Agriculture's Food Data Central acknowledged a cup of canned carrot juice contains
ninety-four kilocalories, two-point two-four grams of protein, zero-point three-five grams
of fat, twenty-one point nine grams of carbohydrates and one point eight nine grams of
fibre. It also has a variety of minerals and vitamins like six hundred and eighty-nine
milligrams of potassium. Twenty-point one milligrams of Vitamin C, zero-point two one
seven milligrams of Vitamin B-1 (thiamin), zero-point five one two milligrams of B-6,
two-point two five six micrograms of Vitamin A and thirty-six point six micrograms of
vitamin K which mentioned in the table below.

7. Nithiyakalyani

Nithiyakalyani in Tamil is also called Madagascar Periwinkle, graveyard plant,


old maid and rose periwinkle. Its scientific name is Catharanthusroseus. It is a flowering
plant from the Apocynaceae family. Researchers from the UK found Nithiyakalyani will
emerge as the largest-selling anti-cancer drug. Two Canadian Scientists studied the anti-
biotic properties of this plant and discovered its medicinal value for curing cancer by
vinblastine and vincristine. John Innes Centre (JIC) in Norwich, UK has undergone
research with a team of biological chemists led by Sarah O’Connor for fifteen years and
revealed the biosynthesis of vinblastine. Nithiyakalyani has used for the treatment of
lymphomas and bladder, breast and lung cancer. The six-decade mystery of this medicinal
plant has unravelled and quickly helps cancer patients to cure their ailments. For

homemade remedies, five to ten flowers are to be taken and boil it with one glass of
water. Boil up to half glass and drink in an empty stomach gives a tremendous result. It
also cures wasp stings, diabetics and wounds.

8. Citrus fruits
Healthy food habits would promote immunity, slow tumour growth and spread of
cancer. Blueberries are rich in anti-oxidants and the powerhouse of nutrition with
manganese, Vitamin C and fibre. It also helps to activate the chemo brain to promote
memory and increase concentration. During and after cancer treatment Vitamin C plays a
significant role in revitalizing the immune system. One of the enriched Vitamin C fruits
is Orange which is readily available in all places and has nutrients like thiamine, folate,
and potassium. It would reduce the side effects of chemotherapy, boost iron absorption
and protect from anaemia.
Bananas act as an excellent additional dietary for those who are recovering from
cancer. It is rich in nutrients like potassium, manganese, vitamin C and vitamin B6. The
Pectin fibre in banana stops diarrhoea or vomiting caused by cancer treatment. Pectin in
banana protects the growth and development of colon cancer. Meanwhile, Grapes are rich
in anti-cancer properties with vitamin C, provitamin A, potassium, Lycopene, vitamins,
and minerals. Grape would increase blood flow in the brain and help to mitigate the
chemo brain. It is suggested to eat grapes with seeds cures cancer to a more considerable
extent. The sour taste of citrus in lemon is having components like limonene with
potassium, iron, and vitamin B6 and Vitamin C, which destroys cancer cells. Researchers
confirmed lemon juice added beneficial to the human diet.

9. Conclusion
Thus, prevention and cure of cancer have maintained by an adequate diet and
homemade remedies. One must remember prevention is better than cure. Instead of
waiting for ailments, healthy food supplements must be added in everyday dietary to lead
a healthy life. Few of healing home foods for cancer are discussed in this paper to make
people prevent themselves from getting adverse diseases. Thousands of years home
remedy is now dying in the hands of the present generation. Without knowing the
medicinal value of homemade food, many preferred Jung foods and developed obesity
and cancer. Future generations must find the quality and purity of healthy eating in daily
diet to maintain a healthy life.
