ABSTRACT

Mobile devices, mostly laptops or smartphones, can affect a student’s performance,

whether it be positively or negatively. Students can be shown in this study that they either
excel or fail in their learning with the range of mobile devices. Students at Gusa Regional
Science High School were conducted a survey on whether a student’s performance is
enhanced with mobile devices. Questions were prepared for this survey with relevant
information about the study. The survey was employed in the form of Google Forms for the
comfort of the respondents. The survey was handed over via Facebook Messenger and
expected results within 7 days. According to the research findings, majority of the
respondents were distracted, which caused them to neglect their completion of activities,
affecting their academic performance. Furthermore, there are still students who are distracted
by their mobile devices but know how to balance their studies and it does not influence their
academic performance. The researchers find that most students are distracted by their studies,
although it has little effect on their academic performance. As a result, the researcher
suggests that students should learn to regulate and manage their time when using mobile
devices in order to reduce the influence of mobile device usage on their academic
performance.
