Lanao del Norte is famous or known for waterfalls, plateaus, and mountains. Their rich and fertile soil yields a bountiful
crop for the island's agricultural economy. Their major crop is rice, which is followed by corn, coconut, abaca, bananas,
and durian. Brass making and malong-weaving are some of their cottage industries.
Iligan City is known as the City of Majestic Waterfalls because of the enormous number of waterfalls that are clustered
in the region.
Lanao del Norte, including Iligan City, has a population of 846,329 as of the 2007 Census, accounting for 30.6% of the
regional population and less than 1% of the national population (Table 3.4). The province ranks third among Region X
provinces, behind Misamis Oriental and Bukidnon. Its population expanded at a 1.53% yearly pace, slower than the
regional average of 1.76% but faster than the national rate of 1.48%.
