Answer the following questions correctly and briefly.

(Online Text) (5points each)

1.Define and describe Organic Chemistry.

The study of carbon-containing molecules' structure, characteristics, content,

reactions, and synthesis is known as organic chemistry. The majority of organic
compounds are composed of carbon and hydrogen, though they can also contain a
variety of additional elements (e.g., nitrogen, oxygen, halogens, phosphorus, silicon,
sulfur).

2.Distinguish the difference between Organic and Inorganic Chemistry?

Organic chemistry is the study of molecules that do contain carbon, unlike

inorganic chemistry, which studies all compounds that do NOT contain carbon
compounds.

3.Define and describe Biochemistry.

The study of biological processes at the cellular and molecular level is known as
biochemistry. Biochemistry investigates the chemistry of living things and the
molecular basis for the changes that take place in living cells. It is both a life science
and a chemical science, meaning it can be applied to every aspect of human biology.

4.Cite the differences among alkanes, alkenes and alkynes.

Alkanes, also known as saturated hydrocarbons, only have one connection

between each carbon atom. Alkenes have at least one double bond between carbon
atoms. Alkynes have one or more triple bonds between carbon atoms. Unsaturated
hydrocarbons are the name given to alkenes and alkynes.

5.Distinguish the difference between aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons.

Aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons have different carbon-to-hydrogen ratios;

aliphatic hydrocarbons have a higher carbon-to-hydrogen ratio than aromatic
hydrocarbons.
