achieving these goals.

•  Conformity- Acceptance of both goals and means.

•  Innovation- acceptance of goals and culture but rejection of


culturally defines goals. Mafia.

•  Ritualism- rejection of culturally defined goals but routinized


acceptance of the means to achieve it.

•  Retreatism- Involves the rejection of both.

•  Rebellion- ‘special case’


•  Rejects both
•  Actively attempts to replace both elements of the society.
