THE LUMBERJACKS AND A

MAGICAL TREE
Once upon a time, there were two
lumberjacks namely, Joshua being the older
one, and Harold being the younger of the
two. They were living in the forest. Joshua
was always unkind and greedy towards the
people around him, while Harold was the
opposite of his brother.

Joshua always goes outside in order to

search for firewood so that he can sell it
at the market. While walking along, he
then chopped branches and wood from
trees along the way. A little later, he
stumbled upon a somewhat a magical
tree.

He approached the tree and decided to chop

one of its branches, when he was going to do
so, the magical tree talked, and beg Joshua to
not chop its branches. The tree offered Joshua
magical crystalline apples in return of sparing
the tree’s life.
Joshua agreed, but was disappointed by the fact that he only got a small amount of
the apples. Due to Joshua’s greediness, he threatened to cut down the magical tree
if it didn’t provide him a larger amount of apples. The tree became furious. Instead
of apples, the tree wiggles and hundreds of sharp leaves have fallen down to
Joshua’s vicinity. Joshua screamed with pain and fell to the ground unconsciously.

Soon, Harold, who was at home the whole day, became worried and search for his

older brother. After a long time of searching, he found Joshua lying at the ground,
who was still unconscious with hundreds of sharp leaves impaled on his skin.

He ran to Joshua and aid him, he tried to wake up his brother but failed. The
magical tree talked again, but this time, to Harold’s presence. The tree said to him
that he was the one who caused his brother’s situation, the tree said that he
punished Joshua for being greedy.
Harold then apologizes to the tree, and promises to care for the magical tree and
also offered to return the magical apples in return of Joshua being cured.

The magical tree agreed to the deal, and gave Harold a magical sap, and said that it
will only wake up his brother but not heal the wounds caused by the leaves. Harold
takes it even though it was not a complete cure to Joshua’s situation. He thanked
the magical tree and proceeded to wake his brother using the sap.

The tree saw that even though the sap was not enough to aid Harold’s brother, he
never wanted more and not be greedy unlike his brother. Joshua then woke up and
apologized for treating the tree so badly. The magical tree saw the change in the
Joshua’s heart and also Harold for
being compassionate and not be greedy
with a magical sapling that can they
can grow, so when the time comes it
will be fruitful with magical apples.
