The Lonely Vampire

Nobody comes to see me for the townspeople fear me. They think I am a monster. So, I
stay in my chamber. They do not understand but if they gave me a chance, they could see I am
nice as can be. No need to pass judgement or judge a book by its cover. If only they could see
they are just like me. I stay alone in my tower. In the corner I cower. I am afraid to be alone. I
must muster up the power to leave this oh so lonely tower. The day has come I am ready to be
free. I need to remember not everyone will like me. It is okay if some fear or do not want to go
near but I know some won’t and some will endear. I must give it a chance to make a new friend,
or I’ll end up in my lonely tower again. I must leave at once. I must not delay for I’ll make a new
friend today. I’ll put on my coat and hat. Then the townspeople will see I’m as harmless as a cat.
I'm a nice vampire. I don’t suck blood; I just sip on red tea. I can be quite messy. I’ve been a
vegetarian since 2003. I hope they can see that I have changed like a flower from December to
May. If I just be me, I’ll make a new friend today. I stroll into town with people all around but
what do I say. Hello, good morning, good afternoon, or pip pip cheerio oh which is the proper
salute. I don't want to be seen as a brute. A peculiar man walks up and grabs my hand and yells
he's a vampire at the top of his lungs. The townspeople ooh and they aww and then a harsh
silence falls as the old farmer calls. There is no need to fear he is an old friend that I haven't seen
since 1910. From when I was a boy, he brought me so much joy. He was my best friend until this
boy named Roy stole the teacher's toy and blamed it on Troy. My friend took the blame so Troy
would feel no shame. He was scolded and mocked for stealing the toy. Then he fled the town and
was nowhere to be found. He ran away for what seemed to be eternity. He is a kind vampire he
wouldn't hurt a bug. He doesn't want your blood, he wants to give you a hug. I am happy as can
be the vampire shouted out with glee. All the townspeople lined up to greet the man and the
vampire, curious but happy. They asked him many questions and the vampire gave them some
lessons. After the day came to an end the vampire returned to his tower again. This time he didn't
feel so lonely; the townspeople gave him hope to feel less hopelessly. Upon arriving home the
vampire screamed hooray it's my lucky day for I made new friends today.
