Dear Mrs. Chandler,

I hope things are going well for you! It has been so long since I have been able to be in

your classroom. I still remember being in your class in third grade. Before I had you as a teacher,

my teachers mislabeled me as a troublemaker. But you saw the best in me, and understood me in

ways my previous teachers couldn’t. You were extremely patient with all of your students

including me and you offered me solutions to my problems instead of punishing me. All of the

empathy and kindness you showed to your students encouraged me to become a teacher myself.

As well as being an understanding person, your teaching style really stuck with me. The lessons

that you had planned for us were very interactive and allowed for us to get out of our seats and

be active. There was never a boring moment while being in your class. While being a nice and

laidback teacher, you also managed to make sure we were always on top of our assignments.

You also made sure not a single student was left behind and that every student understood the

topics you were teaching. Your classroom environment was also very warmcomforting and made

sure that everybody felt safe at school. You always went above and beyond with your teaching. I

always had a problem of getting myself into trouble, but you were the one teacher who realized

the true problem was me finishing my work too fast. You allowed me to roam the classroom

while others where still doing work. This allowed me to be less distracted and therefore I didn’t

get into trouble as often. You also realized that scolding children isn’t the most effective method

rather talking out feelings is and that really inspired me. Thank you for showing me what an

understanding and compassionate teacher is like. I strive to be a teacher like you.

Sincerely,
Alexus Cornejo
