§ He fathered 2 children with
his first wife Helen Hemmila
(died 1962) & remarried in
1965 to Marjorie.
§ Modernist architect
§ Known as a key innovator in the development of
an Elegant Modernism
§ 1922- Graduated in University of Rome as Civil
Engineer
§ Cornell University- continue his CE studies on a
scholarship right after he graduated
§ He practiced architecture until 1950
§ He become a draftsman as the start of his
architectural career.
§ Also became a dean of the school of
Architecture and Planning at the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology
§Retires in 1965 but continue to lecture and
served as an adviser
§Designed over 1,000 buildings.
