This invention relates in general to the food industry but more particularly to
food trades and food enthusiasts. Too much consummation of oil from the food we
eat is very harmful to our health. This invention is related to the food industry and
beneficial for food enthusiast wherein this invention extracts oil from the fried foods
such as fried chicken, fries etc. This is made of plastic container, syringe, and glass
sealant. This tool will be very helpful to lessen your oil intake and unable you to eat
greasy food. Lastly, this invention is easy to use, beneficial and durable.

Chapter I

INTRODUCTION

This chapter includes the background of the study, objectives of the study,
conceptual framework of the study, significance of the study, definitions of terms
used in the study, and the scope and limitations of the study.

Background of the Study

In Food Industry, there are some that are struggling in extracting


oils from the foods because there are few available tools to use other than big
machineries. There are some Food enthusiasts who are conscious of their health, they
can’t eat oily foods, but they are silently wishing that there would be a
tool/equipment that can easily extract oils from oily foods so that they can eat it
without worrying much about their health. Also, a lot of people especially those who
have health problems like Hypertension who wants to eat oily foods, but they can’t
since eating food consists of oil can trigger their hypertension to rise. A lot of people
are struggling in extracting oils in oily foods, it’s a common problem in our society
nowadays since there are a lot who’s conscious about their health and body figure. A
tool that can help them extract at least a minimum amount of oil from their food can
be a big help to those people mentioned above. Moreover, Fatty foods are what the
millennial go crazy for these days. McDonalds, Wendy’s, Burger King are just
certain example of fast-food restaurants which fatty foods are present. We must be
cautious on what food that we eat especially the oil which is present in it. Trans fat is
a byproduct of hydrogenation, turning healthy oils into saturated fats or known as
unhealthy fats. Eating foods rich in trans fats increases the risk of creating
inflammation, which is linked to heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and other chronic
conditions. They contribute to insulin resistance, which increases the risk of
developing type 2 diabetes. To prevent or reduce our fatty oil intake we come up
with a solution called food dehydrator where it pulls out
the oil from the fried and oily foods. Our product will be made of container, syringe,
and glass sealant. The close container will serve as the place where the oily food will
be laid. The syringe will be the ones to extract the oils from the food by pushing and
pulling the plunger of the syringe. Lastly, the glass sealant will be used for
preventing the tube to fall off and it will prevent any leakage. The figure shown
below is the design of our product.

Objectives of the Study

This study generally aims to develop a Food Dehydrator.

Specifically, this study aims to:


1. design and prototype the Food Dehydrator with the following features:
a. credible,
b. durable, manageable, and
c. portable, and convenient;
2. determine the technical functionality of the Food Dehydrator with regards
to the above stated features;
3. provide the technical description of the Food Dehydrator; and
4. formulate a user’s manual.

Conceptual Framework of the Study


This study is guided by the framework as shown in figure 1 which depicts the
input process output, and outcome model.

As shown in figure 1, are the input, process, output, outcome model adopted
in the conduct of the study. As input, the research pinpointed and recognized the
product persona. In this study the product persona focused on those who are involved
in using food dehydrator such as food enthusiasts. As to the process, the research
contemplates the different possible design concept and be able to identify what

materials are needed. Although these materials can be found in local markets, the
research still calculate this exact possible location for its appropriate material.
The output of the study is the food dehydrator that will be a useful, handy, and
manageable while maintaining the health of those people and industries who are
involve and loves to eat oily foods. Food enthusiasts such oily foods lovers eat their
foods while maintaining their good health by taking vitamins to lessen the oils they
take. But having food dehydrator eliminates this old process in which they can be
healthier while eating lesser oils in oily foods they like, plus taking vitamins will add
more health than before. The outcome of this research will contribute to the food
industries and even in food enthusiasts where these issues or problems can be solved.

Significance of the Study

This study can contribute to the following:


Food Enthusiast. Food lovers will be happy to know that they can be
healthier than before while eating foods they like such oily foods or fatty foods. The
product will lessen those oils in their oily foods and the risk and probability of them
having disease they will get eating in eating oily and fatty foods.
Food Industry. Food industries will gain more costumers than before if they
are selling delicious foods while having a healthy process of making it which is
beneficial to the food enthusiasts. Having new technology such as food dehydrator
will make the industries processing in oily foods be more productive and healthier,
plus food dehydrator is credible and convenient that can be perform and use by
anyone.
Researchers. Upcoming student researchers will be interested in creating
inventions that can solve any problems if they are inspired by this product and in the
future, they will create some related invention or far more creative that can help
humanity by providing product that are useful, credible, and handy for those who
wants to use it.

Definitions of Terms Used in the Study

For the benefit of the readers, the following terms were defined conceptually and
operationally:

Credible. Specifically, the terms refer to that features of a product that is


convincing or believable for the users. As used in this study, the food dehydrator is a
trustworthy product.
Food Dehydrator. Food dehydrator is the practice of extracting and absorbing
of oils in oily foods to make foods healthier and lessen that risk of having illnesses or
diseases related to oils. As used in this study, the food dehydrator refers to the
procedure of extracting of oils in oily foods where the intervention of food
dehydrator is applied.
Convenient. Specifically, the term refers to that feature of a product that is
easy, comfortable for use, and easily accessible. As used in the study, this refers to
the feature of the food dehydrator that it can be use without too much effort applied.
Durable. Specifically, the term refers to that feature of a product
that it can withstand pressure and damage. As used in the study, this refers to the
feature of the food dehydrator that it is a product designed to be long-lasting and
strong.

Scope and Limitations

This study, as reflected in the objectives as well as in the conceptual model.


The study is concerned mainly on designing, prototyping, and product testing of the
food dehydrator. All further and additional concern which are not discussed herein
are beyond the scope of the study.
