1. Read the excerpts from Renato Constatino's Mis-Education of Filipinos.

a. ANSWER: Education matters a lot for us as Filipinos. We may not be the richest or most well-
developed country, but our education must produce Filipinos who know our country's
problems and strive to solve them.

b. ANSWER: We may have been getting an education under the American sovereignty before
but that education is their weapon to shape the new generation's beliefs and ideas that
connect and agrees with American Ideas, which in turn leads us to abandon our nationality.

c. ANSWER: The Americans may have seemed to care enough to bring us education but their
purpose isn't to make us illiterate and not ignorant. Their purpose was to train us, with their
education, to agree and side with the American beliefs.
