Question

Effective internal communications is the key to a healthy, engaged organization. As students of internal
communication, we must understand the structure, functions and other multiple dynamics of communication in an
organization. Keeping in mind this, analyze the structure and functions of communication in an organization. You
can select any organization of the followings: Non-Government development Organization (NGO), Health
Organization, Educational Institution, News and Media Organization, Cooperate business organization. If you select
any organization of the ULAB, then it may include, HR office, Communication Office, Student Affairs office,
Academic Department, Outreach programs, The ULABian, ULAB TV, MSJ Brian Shoe Smith Media Lab, etc. Your
analysis may include:

 Formal and Informal Communication


 Upward and Downward Communication
 Horizontal communication
 Verbal and non-verbal communication
 Grapevine communication

You can divide your report into 8 main sections, as outlined below.
1. Executive Summary/Synopsis
2. Introduction
3. Findings (main themes)
4. Discussions (summery of the findings and its analysis)
5. Conclusion
6. Recommendations
7. References
8. Appendices (if any)

Keep in mind
 You must read the instruction carefully before writing your answer.
 Total Marks: 100 [will weigh 30% in the final grading]
 Minimum word limit: 1000 words
 Deadline of Submission: 11:59pm, Thursday, November 17, 2022 [Soft copy] at the Google classroom/
and November 20, during office hours (9:00am-5:00pm) [Hardcopy].
 You must submit the hard of copy of your assignment at the designated place, my desk at PA305.
And get signed at the exam attendance sheet.
 No email submission will be accepted
 You must write in English.
 You may consult published academic journals, articles and books etc. In that case, you must write it in
your own language and give proper citations*. Any plagiarism will be considered as punishable offence,
and it will severely affect your grades.
 Your submission must be computer composed.
 You must submit your assignment at the Google Class Room using your account. You also must submit
a hard copy of your assignment at the desk of your faculty, and get signed your attendance. Keep in
mind, without your sign in the exam attendance sheet, you will be shown absent in the exam.
 You must submit your articles in single MS Word file. You MUST NOT send your assignment in PDF
or other file formats.
 The name of your submission file should be as follows: [Your Name] _ [Your Student ID] _ [PR-1] _
[Fall 2022].
 You will use Times New Roman Font.
 Keep one-inch margin in each side, and line space 1.5 inch. You will submit all the answers in ONE file.
Keep in mind, NOT more than one file.
 The Course Teacher will run a Similarity-Check in Turnitin. Papers with Similarity index higher than 20% will
not be accepted.
 If the answer of two or more students match completely, or certain paragraphs used in the answer exactly
match, all the students having such similarity will get ZERO. No explanation will be accepted in this
regard.

extent, showing a good understanding of the topic.
Good The answer is of correct length as requested, includes suitable language,
71 – 80% appropriate examples have been used, the student makes appropriate

observations, tackling most of the question, showing a good understanding of
the topic.
Average The answer tackles some of the question, uses at least one real example and

61 – 70% shows satisfactory understanding of the topic.
Poor The answer is partly appropriate, may not use real examples but shows a basic
