Feminism
the belief that men and women should have
equal rights

The goal of the movement is to let


women have abortion rights,
policitcal participation, to change
the roles of women in the
Feminist Movement households, and equailty legislation
is a series of social movements and political
campaigns to fight for women’s rights
An abortion is when a woman chose to end her pregnancy by having a procedure done or taking
medicine. Women was denied rights to have abortions and have reproductive freedom, but the
supreme court case Roe vs. Wade helped abortions become legal

● Roe versus Wade is one of the most


important court case of all time
because it protects the right of
women reproductive decisions

● The decision happened in 1973 and is


still being debated till this day

● In 2022, the supreme court is


debating whether or not to overturn
the famous court case

● Only 67% of people support Roe v.


Wade, 53% of Republican want it
overturned and 81% of Democrats want
it to stay

A In 1991, Anitta Hill testified against Supreme
Court nominee Clarence Thomas that he
sexually harssed her when he was chair of the
Equal EMployment Opportunity and she was
an advisor for him. Since, she was the first
woman to talk openly about sexual
harssement, her testimony was significant. The
vote was 52-48. Since, she was the first
woman to do this, after she went home, she
received death threats and was dislike by
many people but she didn’t regret what she
did.
WOmen ROles in society
During the feminist movement, women wanted equal roles in society and
they was able to accomplish this because now
‐ women can get jobs, for example, during World War 2, many
women were able to get jobs that available since men left to fight in
the war

‐ Better pay
‐ Not be defined as a “Housewife”

Mystique” book The Feminine Mystique
railed up women
across the nation
and even though
women had
everything they
wanted, they felt
unfulfilled
Sandra O’Connor helped make
Roe v. Wade legal, she
sided with Planned
Day parenthood during the
Planned Parenthood v.

O’Connor Casey case, and she


continued to protect
women rights even
though the other judges
wanted to overturn Roe
v. Wade
