Chemical weathering involves chemical change.

Unlike mechanical weathering wherein rocks are

broken down without altering its mineral composition.

There are four types of transportation. First is solution, where material is dissolved and carried

along by water. This is the manner of transport common in limestone cave formation. Second, we
have the suspension wherein material is carried along by water, air, or ice, Third, is the traction.

Materials move by rolling along the surface. Lastly, we have saltation. Materials move from the surface
to the medium in quick, repeated cycles, as if they are jumping.

Formed due to the dissolution of limestone. Rainwater

picks up carbon dioxide from the air and as it percolates

through the soil, it turns it into a weak acid. This slowly

dissolves out the limestone along the joints, bedding

planes and fractures, which become enlarged enough to

form caves.

Sinkholes are formed when the rock below the landform

is limestone, carbonate rock, salt beds, or rocks that can

naturally be dissolved by groundwater circulating through

them. As the rock dissolves, spaces and caverns develop

underground.

Landslides are caused by the rain, earthquakes, volcanos,

and other factors that make the slope unstable.
