1. INTRODUCCIÓN
Tom said, ‘I am feeling side’ (Tom dijo, ‘Me encuentro/siento mal’
Tom said that he was feeling side (Tom dijo que se encontraba/sentía mal)
1.2. USOS

I asked my father if I could go to the cinema. He wanted to know who I was going with
so I replied that I was going with John. Dad agreed.
Mi padre me dio permiso).

He said, ‘You must study more’ (El dijo, ‘debéis estudiar más’)
He said that we had to study more.
He said, ‘It may be true’ (El dijo, ‘probablemente sea verdad’)
He said that it might be true.

Tell the truth (decir la verdad)
Tell a story (contar una historia)
Tell the time (decir la hora)
Tell fortunes (decir la buenaventura)
Tell the difference (decir la diferencia)
Mary said: “What a nice idea!”
(Mary dijo: “¡Qué idea tan bonita!”)
(tell no es posible en esta frase)

10 TAMadrid
I HE, SHE
Tom said “I am very happy” Tom said that he was very happy
(Tom dijo,’Estoy muy feliz’). (Tom dijo que estaba muy feliz).
Mary said, ‘I am very sad’. Mary said that she was very sad.
ME HIM, HER
Tom said ‘Peter gave me a pen” Tom said that Peter had given him a pen.
Mary said, ‘Peter gave me a rose’ Mary said that Peter had given her a rose
YOU I, YOU
Tom said, ‘You are stupid’ Tom said that I was a stupid
Tom said, ‘You are stupid’ Tom said that you were stupid
frase.
WE THEY
Tom said, ‘We are the champions’ Tom said that they were the champions
US THEM
Kate said, ‘Peter doesn’t love us’ Kate said that Peter didn’t love them
OURS THEIRS
John said, ‘The black car is ours’ John said that the black car was theirs.

Tom said, ‘She is my girlfriend’ Tom said that she was his girlfriend.
Tom said, ‘They arrived late’ Tom said that they had arrived late.
MY HIS, HER
William said, ‘My cat has died’ Willian said that his cat had died
Helen said, ‘My cat has died’ Helen said that her cat had died.
Kate said, ‘Your house is very beautiful’ Kate said that my house was very beautiful
Kate said, ‘Your house is very beautiful’ Kate said that your house was very beautiful
OUR THEIR
Caroline said, ‘our teacher is crazy’ Caroline said that their teacher was crazy
Rachel said, ‘James loves his wife’ Rachel said that James loved his wife.
THIS THAT
Peter said, ‘This book is very interesting’ Peter said (that) that book was very interesting
THESE THOSE
Susan said, ‘These shoes are dirty’ Susan said that those shoes were dirty
HERE THERE
Ann asked me, ‘Is my book here?’ Ann asked me if the book was there
(Ann me preguntó, ‘¿Está aquí mi libro?’) (Ann me preguntó si estaba ahí su libro)

Tom said, ‘I found my key a week ago’ Tom said that he had found his key a week
before.
verbales.
Katy told me, ‘Come with me’. Katy told me to go with her.

Tom asked me, ‘Why do you arrive so late?’ Tom asked me why I arrived so late
(Tom me preguntó, ‘¿Por qué llegas tan tarde?’) (Tom me preguntó por qué llegaba tan
tarde)
18 TAMadrid
Caroline asked me, ‘Where do you live?’ Caroline asked me where I lived
(Caroline me preguntó, ‘¿Dónde vives?’) (Caroline me preguntó dónde vivía)
partícula interrogativa, vamos a utilizar el nexo IF o WHETHER indistintamente.
He asked me, ‘Do you like oranges?’ He asked me if / whether I liked oranges.
(Me preguntó, ‘¿Te gustan las manzanas?’) (Me preguntó si me gustaban las manzanas)
