IS IT WRONG TO USE WOOL?

Humans use wool to make clothing. Most of the wool comes from
sheep. Wool is different from fur or leather, because sheep stay
alive when their wool is cut. Sheep don't die. But is it wrong to
take your wool anyway?
Some people say that wearing wool is wrong. They say that
sheep feel uncomfortable when their wool is cut or sheared. They
may feel scared and fight back against the humans who are
shearing them. This can hurt the sheep.
Others say that wearing wool is acceptable. Most farmers go to
great lengths to keep their sheep healthy and happy. They know
how to shear sheep without harming them. They also point out
that some sheep need humans to shear them. If some sheep are
not sheared, their wool continues to grow forever. The wool
becomes too heavy and hot, and this can kill the sheep.

21. As used in this passage, the word shear means

A) To kill

B) hunting

C) Cut

D) fight

22. Which of these gives a reason why people should NOT wear wool?

A) Sheep can be injured when their wool is removed.

B) Farmers kill sheep for their wool.

C) Wool is too hot and heavy for people to wear.

D) Most sheep shed their wool naturally.
