CS158-2 Final Requirement

Watch the first 5 episodes of Netflix Korean TV Series “START UP” and answer the following
questions:

1. What are the factors that measure the qualities of Artificial Intelligence? Provide explanation why it is
considered as a factor? List as many factors as you can find.

First Factor, and the most important quality that an AI should manifest is its results should be accurate. In
Figure 1, this scene was taken from episode 5 where one of the judges of start-up challenged two similar AI
to test out their accuracy, and from there they will decide which company they will pass to the next level of
the competition. It is the most important feature of an AI because even the slightest error of an AI might
cause big risks to us users since most of our livelihood, security, etc, depends on technology and machines.
The send factor is data, the accuracy of an AI depends on the data that was given because it uses data for
machine learning process to be able to perform tasks independently without the program. Figure 2 shows
the scene in episode 5 how Do-san explains to Dalmi how maching learning works and what is an AI.

2. What are the challenges while developing an Artificial Intelligence?

The most important challenge of developing an AI is accuracy, it is because an AI cannot be used if it is not
accurate. Figure 3 shows the scene where a company presented their AI and failed because it cannot detect
the plate number.

3. What are the definitions of Artificial Intelligence as mentioned in the first 5 episodes?
According to Do-san in episode 5 (Figure 4), An AI is a technology that uses a process called machine
learning which enables the machine to provide answer until it satisfies the user. Like how tarzan from Do-
san’s methapor made jane smile by giving her flowers instead of a rock.

4. List down the issues that AI solution may show (during the demo) and explain why it is considered as an
issue?
One of the companies during the demo presented a start-up that scans the plate number of the car.
Unfortunately, their AI did not work, and it cause them to get expelled from the hackathon. This shows that
when creating an AI, there will always be errors in your system and software, so you should always test
every update you apply on your system.

5. What are the AI technologies/solutions mentioned in the first 5 episodes?

Episode 1 - Yeong-Shil (AI)

5.1. Description - Yeong-shil is a virtual assistant technology that provides service through voice
activation. One of its features has the ability to have a conversation with the owner regarding the news and
weather, also it can control other smart devices and play music for you through voice activation.

5.2. Benefits - One of the main benefits of this artificial intelligence to people is convenience.
Through this AI everyone who owns any smart device that has a Yeong-shil,can have their own personal
assistant that can provide them service that any smart-based technology can do which can benefit them by
saving their time and resources.

Episode 2 – Samsan tech AI

5.3. Description – This AI is an image recognition software that runs using Artificial intelligence.
Its main feature is that it can identify an object, or a living thing based on what the computer sees from the
camera.

5.4. Benefits – I believe that this type of technology can be used mostly for security. For example,
there is an installed camera in your home that is connected to this software, it can identify someone passing
your home’s entrance, and can send you an alarm or notifies if it identifies a stranger
