1. More private universities should be established in Srilanka to enroll more

students for higher studies
A private university is an institution independent of state control. Some universities establish for profit
making purpose but mainly don’t necessarily have to be a profit making institution.

In SriLanka averagely 125,000 students pass the GCE A-Level examination, out of which around 25,000
enter national Universities annually leaving the balance join in private universities. In srilanaka have 15
national universities. That is a reasonable number for a small developing country. We also do have a
considerable number of private universities and institutes offering degree program.

Private university education is important because, first and foremost, they offer time-demanded study
courses for the aspiring students. They are far ahead of the state universities in terms of using modern
technology in education. Their curricula are updated using western methods and are revised regularly
and promptly, while public universities lag behind in this respect. Private universities give students the
skills required by the job markets which sharpens their fighting edge in the competition of employment.

Why more private universities should be established to enroll more students

There are several important reasons for should be establish private universities in Sri Lanka.

 Able to follow Industry related Programs. As curriculum is modified able to align knowledge and
skills provided in the courses with the current trends of work. So that those who would be graduated
with necessary skills and knowledge levels that fulfill industry requirements, can easily find
employment.

 Freedom to Select Degree Program. It is not possible to choose the degree program as student would
like in current system and students should be enrolled to the course, which is given by UGC.
However in private colleges situation is completely different and college student can enroll to ideal
degree program which are matched with the skills and career expectations.

 Flexible Study Options. Both full time and part time degree programs can be conducted in private
universities which allow undergraduates to work while studying. This is one of biggest advantage of
private universities. They able to earn money and continue studying.

 More Resources can be utilized. As fee is charged, resources which are necessary to degree
programs can be provided for undergraduate students in private universities. Limited resources are
available in government universities are totally depended on funds provided by government.
Resources can be provided in private universities as fee is charged from every student.
 More Space creating in government universities. If private universities are opened, it can be
expected that portion of students will move to private universities. So the space will be created in
government universities and it can be filled with students are in next line.

 Money is saved for Country. It is learnt that huge money is moved out annually from the Sri Lanka
as a result of going abroad for studies. If private universities are opened in Sri Lanka, considerable
amount of this money can be saved within country.

 Revenue Generate Through Foreign Students. If private universities can be established successfully,
foreign students can be attracted. Providing education is used as one of main sources of income and
it is possible to generate income to country via private universities.

2. How do digital deviced (smart phones,computers,tablets,etc.) assist English

Language learning?

Digital technology helps us in every aspect of our lives, from health and fitness to creativity and social
communication. 22 million students are benefiting from the online distance learning .Students can get
benefit from today’s technological advancements and develop their knowledge through learning.

Use of mobile technology started in 21st century and it gave birth to Mobile-Assisted Language
Learning which refers to learning languages via mobile devices. Mobile Learning makes learning more
private and individual matter as well as it makes learning possible in formal and informal situations.
Students are found using Smartphone for learning translation and retranslation, reading online
books, and practicing their communication skills via smart phones.

With the rise of iPads, tablets and e-readers like the Kindle, students accustomed to a more interactive
reading experience, which is a wonderful feature for English learners. Functions like vocabulary
builders, and downloading whole texts at the touch of a button are all beneficial to a learner looking for
a fun and effective way to improve their reading and writing in particular.

Benefits of Using New Technology in Language Learning

 The best complementary tool for teachers in the classroom. Digital devices help educational centers
to implement a blended learning method that has demonstrated great success in the classroom. It
equips the teacher with a complete manual on giving face to face English classes, with unlimited
exercises and activities for all levels and lessons, with the objective that the students are much more
active and involved in the classroom.

 Devices in language learning is motivating and stimulating for students. They can practice a
language through features such as voice recognition and interactive multimedia exercises. Students
can study their English course using a variety of comprehensive apps Rosetta stone, FluentU, Hello
English, Duo lingo etc…..

 Ease in managing and monitoring student progress. Not only the devices give educational
institutions the best and most effective control over activities such as activating student accounts,
creating groups, sending out communications and automatic notifications but also they can perform
important tasks such as monitoring the progress of students through specialized software Which had
 developed the Create Test function which allows teachers to design their tests, partially or fully,
from a menu of questions in the database.

 Create a unique experience as much for the teacher as the students. Software in English courses,
along with technology in language learning to complement it, is turning English classrooms into an
environment where sharing, debating, creating and forming opinions is nurtured, a space which is
much more creative and participatory. English classes stop being boring and bland with a teacher
merely explaining something at a blackboard, and become much more active in all senses.

 Promote interactivity and collaboration within learning. The use of device allows students to be
much more creative and participative in the classroom. They prepare a basis of knowledge outside
the classroom engaging with all the content in the course, when they arrive to the classroom they
share this knowledge with the rest of the students and the teacher to demonstrate what they have
learnt and reinforce it in a coordinated way.

Grandmother: - Staying safe at home. Feeling uncomfortable Son!

Me:- Did you get vaccinated for Covid-19?

Grandmother: - No, Son I am frustrating by misinform about vaccine

Me:- Please ma. Don’t jump to conclusion

Grandmother: - I’m bit worried about the vaccine

Me:- it’s okay. Do you want know importance of vaccine?

Grandmother: - yes of course son, please….

Me:- Vaccines are safe thoroughly tested and reviewed

Me:- Vaccines prevents spreads of corona virus variant

Me:- World health organization (WHO) highly recognizes to vaccinate everyone.

Me:- vaccines also help keep you from getting serious ill

Grandmother: - Son, can you explain is it safe for me?

Me:- Yes this is safe and prevents severe effect on body

Me:- Virus affects both innate and immune system easily for old adults

Me:- 70% of death been in people age 65 and above in world

Grandmother: - Thank you Son, I understood importance of vaccine

Me:- I will inform to dad to pickup you to medical center

Me:- don’t forgot to wear mask and maintain social distance

Grandmother: - Thank you very much son. Be safe bye…

4. Conversation between me and draftsman to build a new two-storey

house.

Draftsman: - Welcome to my office, I am Mr.Anton

Me:- Thank you

Draftsman: - How can I help you?

Me:- I am going to build a new two-storey house in my own land

Draftsman: - I am gold medalist in designing modern 3D models

Draftsman: - Can I refer surveyor plan of your land?

Me:- Of course, here…..

Draftsman: - What size home are you seeking?

Me:- I would like to be length in 45 feet and width in 30 feet

Draftsman: - Have you spoken to geo-technical engineers? Some time it will waterfront property

Me:- No I didn’t. I don’t have proper idea on that

Draftsman: - Don’t worry we’ll be happy to guide you through this process

Me:- thank god. That’s why I chosen you.

Me:- May I know what kinds of software use for drafting?

Draftsman: - I am using AutoCad for 2D drafting and Autodesk Revit for 3D modeling

Draftsman: - Very popular software available for rendering 3D max and Lumion

Me:- May I see completed models for my reference?

Draftsman: - here. May I know your idea of floor plan?

Me:- All are Amazing designs. Me and wife together sketch for floor plan.

Me:- Main hall, Two bedroom, two bathroom, Kitchen and Study room
