1. What are social dances, ballroom, dance mixers, and dance sport?
 Social Dance- Social dance is a form of recreational dance that is typically done
with a partner in a group or as a community activity for fun and enjoyment. It is
not always enough to have a partner, but rather a group of people.
 Ballroom dancing is a partner dance in which couples move rhythmically while
reflecting the characteristics of music by using step-patterns. Smooth, or
Standard, and Rhythm, or Latin, are the two types of ballroom dancing.
 A mixer dance, also known as a dance mixer or simply mixer, is a form of social
dance that involves changing partners as an integral part of the dance. Mixing can
be incorporated into the dance choreography or it can be set up to happen at
random.
 Dance sport is a term used to describe high-level ballroom dancing in both
American and foreign styles. It consists of different categories such as
International Latin-American, International Ballroom, American Rhythm, and
American Smooth, and is performed on a competitive basis rather than exhibition
or social dancing.
2. What are the essential components of dancing?
 Body
 Action
 Space
 Time
 Energy
3. How important is formation in dancing?
Formation enable dancers to demonstrate both their individual technique and their ability
to move as a group. Unlike individual competitions, where tricks like "round abouts"
make up a large part of the choreography, "chain reactions" take up a significant portion
of the choreography.
