CARNATE, CHELSEA DYAN V.

BS ARCHITECTURE 2

Renato Constantino wanted us to rethink our colonial history, to rectify it and to learn
from that past. He wanted Filipinos to have a valuable memory of a past to propel the
Filipino's mission for authentic nationhood. As per Schumacher, history isn't objective
since people are represented by their own arrangement of biases when interpreting
records. These archives saw by historians could be any type of medium that reflects the
activities of individuals minds. I agreed with Mr. Renato but Fr. Schumacher has a point
too. History makes us better decision makers. History offers us the chance to learn from
past mistakes. It assists us with understanding the many justifications for why individuals
might act the manner in which they do. Thus, it assists us with turning out to be more
compassionate as individuals and more fair-minded as a person. It develops a better
point of view and understanding of the world, it painted us a detailed picture of how
society, technology and government worked way back. It helped us understand
ourselves and others giving us a tool we need to become decent citizens but still
objective history is impossible and that’s a fact. Why? A fact is embedded inside a
historical context or group of contexts that gives it authentic importance and meaning.
So when does a regular "fact" ascend to a degree or level of "historical fact?" Simple, it
does when a historian concludes it does.
