Types of Printer
1.1 Brief Introduction
= A printer is a device that accepts text and graphics output from a computer and
transfers the information to paper, usually to standard-size , 8.5” sheets of paper.
Printers vary in size, speed , sophistication and cost . In general , more expensive
printers are used for more frequent printing or high – resolution colour printing.
Personal computer printers can be distinguished as impact or non-impact
printers. Early impact printers worked something like an automatic typewriter,
with a key strikes the paper a line at a time, was a popular low-cost option.
The best-know non-impact printers are the inkjet printers and the laser printer.
The inkjet sprays ink from an ink cartridge at very close range to the paper as it
rolls by, while the laser printer uses a laser beam reflected from a mirror to attack
ink (called toner ) to selected paper areas a sheet rolls over a drum.

1.2 Aim of the Micro-Project

The Micro-Project aims at:-

1 A printer is an important accessory of any computer system , especially for
graphics system . The Printer uses for documentation , print media or books
etc.
2 A printer is to accept typed text and graphic images from a computer and
transfer it to paper.
3 A printer is an external devices whose primary function is to replicate digital
from of data into printed media.
4 Printers are hardware devices that allow you to create a hard copy of a file .
5 A printer is a peripheral which produces a text and / or graphics of documents
stored in electronic form , usually on physical print media such as paper or
transparencies .

Types of Printer

2.1 Brief Introduction

= There are many different printer manufacturers available today , including Canon , Epson ,
Hewlett - Packard , Xerox and Lexmark , among many others . There are also several types of
printers to choose from , which we'll explore below .
1.Inkjet printers recreate a digital image by spraying ink onto paper . These the most common
type of personal printer .
2.Laser printers are used to create high - quality prints by passing a laser beam at a high speed
over a negatively charged drum to define an image . Color laser printers are more often found in
professional settings
3.3D printers are a relatively new primer technology 3D printing creates a physical object from a
digital file It works by adding layer upon layer of material until the print job is complete and the
object is whole .
4 Thermal printers produce an image on paper by passing paper with a thermochromic coating
over a print head comprised of electrically heated elements and produces an image in the area
where the heated coating turns black . A dye - sublimation printer is a form of thermal printing
technology that uses heat to transfer dye onto materials
5.All - in - one printers are multifunction devices that combine printing with other technologies
such as a copier scanner and or fax machine
6.LED printers are similar to laser printers but use a light - emitting diode array in the print
head instead of a laser .
7.Photo printers are similar to inkjet printers but are designed specifically to print high - quality
photos , which require a lot of ink and special paper to ensure the ink doesn't smear

2.2 Aim of Micro-Project

(in about 100 to 200 Words):-

2.3 Course Outcomes Achieved

a)Use electrical tools, instruments, devices and equipment for basic level
maintenance of computers and peripheral.
b) Identify active and passive electronic components
c) Undertake basic level maintenance of a PC
d) Use different kinds of Printers and scanners
e) Identify the layout of wired and wireless LAN environment
2.4 Actual procedure followed.

1. First we did discussion and selection of the topic.

2. We found information about the topic.
3. We started preparing the micro project report.
4. Found some information from internet.
5. Then finally finished with the micro project report.

2.5 Actual Resources Used

2.6 Output of the micro-project

=
1 . Got information of printers and it’s different types.
2. Learned printers work .

2.7 Skill developed or learning out of this project.

Develop plans with relevant people to achieve the project's goals, break
work down into tasks and determine handover procedures. Identify
links and dependencies, and schedule to achieve deliverables Estimate
and cost the human and physical resources required, and make plans to
obtain the necessary resources.
