Bioplastics —

1) A British firm recently claimed that it has produced the world’s first bioplastic record, which it
hopes will reduce the need of highly toxic polyvinyl chloride.

2) Bioplastics are derived from sources such as, rather than oil or glass and do not create any toxic
waste in their production.

3) They are 100% degradable, equally resistant and versatile, already used in agriculture, textile,
industry, medicine, in the container, packaging and marketing, etc.

Alluri Sitaram Raju —

1) PM launches year-long 125th anniversary celebration of freedom fighter Alluri Sitaram Raju in
Andhra Pradesh by unveiling his statue by 1897 in Mugallu of a west Godavari district of Madras
presidency.

2) He was a holy man who was considered to have some powers.

3) He was also known as the hero of the forest.

4) He also participated in the Rampa Rebellion.

5) The Rampa Rebellion also refers to as Manyam Uprising, which was a tribal rebellion.

6) The Rampa rebellion through its Guerilla warfare targeted the Britishers only providing the
assertion that it was anti-colonial in nature.
7) The rebellion had a direct and an indirect link with the nationalist ideologies.

8) For instance, Alluri Sitaram was against East India Company and was supporting non-
cooperation movement.

Crypto Hacking —

1) It is a cyber-attack that is hard to detect, wherein a computing device is hacked by the attacker
and it’s resources are used to illicitly mine the cryptocurrency.

2) Coin-mining is a legitimate and competitive process used to relieve new crypto-coin into
circulation or to verify new transaction.

Fiberisation —

1) In the backdrop of the 5G spectrum option for Telecom-Airways by Government, the challenge
for requisite infrastructure in terms of fiberisation challenge.

2) Fiberisation is a process of connecting radio towers with each other via optical fiber cables.

3) It represents the part of the network that connects the core of the network to the edge
facilitating large amounts of data used in 5G services.

4) Also, it provides additional bandwith and stronger back-haul support.

5) In India, currently only 33% of towers are fiberised compared to the 80-90% in the US and China.
6) Therefore, to transition to 5G, India needs atleast 16 times more fiber.

Space Tourism —

1) ISRO is developing capabilities towards space tourism demonstration of human space flight
capability to low earth orbit.

2) Space tourism is a segment of space travel that allows common people to travel to space for
recreational, enjoyment or business purposes.

3) Space tourism aims to make space more accessible to those people who are not astronauts and
wants to travel to space for non-scientific reasons.

4) Three private companies – Blue Origin, Virgin Galactic and Elon Musk’s SpaceX – are some of the
companies that has entered space tourism.

5) One of the negative effects of this is that passengers would be in a potentially severe
environment under a normal condition. This will affect their health drastically.

6) Researchers state that routine launches by the rapidly growing space tourism industry may
undermine progress made by the Montreal Protocol [i.e. treaty on the depletion of ozone layer].

Global Gender Gap Report 2022 —

1) The report was released by World Economic Forum.

2) Its report benchmarked the current state and evolution of gender parity across four key
dimensions.
3) In 2022, the global gender gap has been closed by 68.1%.

4) India was the worst performer in the world in the health and survival when it ranked 146 th.

5) India also ranked poorly amongst its neighbours and is behind Bangladesh – 71th, Nepal – 58 th,
Sri Lanka – 110th and Bhutan -126th.

State Ranking Index For National Food Security Index -

1) Union Food Minister released the first state ranking index of National Food Security Act 2013.

2) Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh secured the top 3 position in the index.

3) Tripura, Himachal Pradesh and Sikkim obtained the top position among the special category
states.

4) Enactment of National Food Security Act 2013 marked a paradigm shift in the approach to food
security from welfare to right-based approach.

5) Its objective is to provide for food and nutritional security in human life cycle approach by
ensuring access to adequate quantities of quality food at affordable prices to people to live a life
with dignity.

National Education Policy 2020 —

1) Recently, the Union Minister of Home Affairs launched several initiatives on the second
anniversary of New Education Policy 2020.
2) Key Initiatives of NEP –

A) A joint program of the Indian Knowledge System, and Ministry of Education, Innovation
Self to promote the development of product, process, inspired and developed from the
Indian traditional knowledge system.

B) Skill India partnershipped with Igloo for the three-year degree program and Skill Hub
under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Yojna.

C) To prepare an initial cadre of early childhood care and education teachers in Aganwadi.

3) NEP 2020 was launched to replace NEP 1996 with an aim of transforming India into a vibrant
knowledge and global knowledge super-power by making both school and colleges’ education
holistic multi-disciplinary, suited to 21st century needs.
