Ma’am it’s all about verb.
Ok class, what was our lesson last
time?

Ok very good!
Verb is an action word.
So what is verb?
Student’s answer
Who can give an example of verb?

Ok very good class.

Presentation of the lesson

Ok class, today we are going to

have our new lesson. So I have
here some codes, you need first to
unlock this codes.

Ok, so anyone? One of the student answer

What is the first code?
Very good, it’s simile
Ma’am Metaphor
How about the second word?

Very good.
Ma’am hyperbole
Ok the next one

And the fourth one is Alliteration

Ok so those words are figure of

speech.
One of the students read the definition of
So what is figure of speech? figure of speech
Can you please read the
definition? anyone?

Ok so figure of speech is a word or

phrases used in a non-literal
sense.

It is a phrase whose actual

meaning is different from its literal
meaning.

It is when you want to say

something in terms of another
thing, so what do we mean by
that? For example, when your
mom said don’t play outside
because it’s raining cats and dogs Yes, Ma’am.
that are falling from the sky, in
other words she is just using figure
of speech. Do you understand?

I have her different figure of

speech. First one is the simile.

Simile – is a figure of speech in

which two dissimilar things are
compared to each other using the
terms “like” or “as.”
So simile is when you are
comparing two things, animals, two
persons but you are using ‘like, as
or so.’

For example:
She is like a Barbie doll.

So you are comparing. One of the students Answer.

She to a Barbie doll using the word
like.
Ok, can you give me another
example?
Anyone?
Very good,
Do you have any question about
simile?
One of the students read.
Ok so let’s proceed.

We have here metaphor

Who can read what is metaphor?

Metaphor – is a figure of speech

that compares two different things
without the use of the terms ‘like’
or ‘as’.

For example:
She is a star in the sky.
One of the student’s answer.
So, you are comparing she to a
star in the sky without using ‘like’
or ‘as’.

Ok, who can give me another

example?

Very good!
Another example is
He is a fish out of water.
One of the student answer.
So you can compare he to a fish
without like or as.

Next is hyperbole.
Can anyone tell me about
hyperbole?

Good.

So hyperbole is a figure of speech

that utilizes extreme exaggeration
to emphasizes a certain quality or
feature.

So it is an exaggerated statement.
In other words, it is like over
statement. We have term “OA”

For example:
I have a million things to do.

So in this example of course it will

be exaggerated if you said that you
have a million things to do just
right in that moment. Right?

Another is, I’ll die if he doesn’t ask

me on a date.
So is so exaggerated if you will say
that because we all know that
someone will not die just because
of a guy who doesn’t ask her for a (student answer)
date.

So, that’s so OA.

So those are the examples of
hyperbole.

Okay, so do you have another

example?

Very good!

Next is alliteration

Alliteration – if the repetition in two

or more nearby words of initial
consonant sounds.

For example:
I feel like making melodies in my
heart

Repetition of consonant sounds One of the student’s answer

making, melodies, my hearts

I brought fancy flowers to Molly’s

party.

Ok those are example of

Alliteration.

Who can give me another

example? One of the student’s answer

Very good!

Ok, do you have any questions

class?

ok class, what is the importance of

using figure of speech in a
sentence? Anyone?

It enhances the beauty of writing. It

adds flavor to the writing and
makes it so much more enjoyable
for the reader, and why we should
understand the different figure if
speech?

Ok, very good!

So it is important for us to
understand the different kinds of
figure of speech so that we can
understand other peoples thought
or ideas.

Ok, Let’s have an activity.

The students do their work
Group yourselves into five.
Get 1 whole sheet of paper.
You need to collaborate with your
group. Students explain their work

Each group needs to construct

three examples of figure of
speech.

And after 10 minutes one

representative from the group will
explain their work.

(after 10 minutes.)

Ok very good,
Seems like you understand our
lesson.

Get ½ sheet of paper and answer

the following:

C. Assessment:

pickled peppers
