Advanced Course

The WEI Advanced English Course is designed to help international students prepare for the Test of English as a Foreign
Language/Internet Based Test (TOEFL iBT). International students must score well on this test in order to enroll in an American
college or university.
The WEI Advanced English Course consists of three books that are written on a 12th grade level.

Book One, Listening Comprehension, consists of eight lessons. Two lessons help international students understand difficult-
sounding terms such as comparatives, concessions, conditions, homonyms, and homophones. Three lessons focus on
American idioms. One lesson helps students answer expected TOEFL questions about negatives, perfectives, references, and
math. The final two lessons are designed to improve students’ listening skills. Since the WEI English courses are not recorded,
students are encouraged to improve their listening comprehension by listening to the recordings in Book One of the Advance
Bible course.
Book Two, Structure and Written Expression, contains nine lessons. Three lessons focus on English sentence structures. The
remaining lessons focus on problems international students commonly have with nouns, pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, verbs,
verbals, prepositions and conjunctions.
Book Three, Vocabulary and Reading Comprehension, consists of twelve lessons. Lessons One and Two help international
students know what to expect in Part A and Part B of the TOEFL. There are three lessons on prefixes which give clues to the
meaning of many English words. There are two lessons on word roots that help students understand the basic meaning of an
English word. There is one lesson on suffixes that provide another clue to a meaning of many English words. Three lessons
are designed to increase the students’ English vocabulary. The final lesson teaches them how to write an effective essay in
English.

The WEI Advanced Bible Course consists of three books:

Book One, The New Birth, consists of eight lessons. This book was written for students who come from a Christian ©
background broadly speaking. A modified version of Book One, The Kingdom Has Come, was written for students who come
from a non-Christian (NC) backgrounds: Atheists, Buddhists, Communists, Hindus, Muslims, Satanists, Spiritists, etc. (A
description of this (NC) version of Book One will be introduced later.) The © version of Book One examines the biblical
meaning of the New Birth and has lessons on faith, changing one’s heart and life, baptism, and a brief history of the departure
from the biblical norm.
Book Two, The New Life, contains nine lessons that describe the changes that take place in a person when God lives in him or
her. The old fleshly self is crucified with Christ. A new spiritual self I born and grows toward spiritual maturity empowered by
the Spirit of God. Bible study, prayer, fellowship with other believers, and a daily walk with Jesus all help believers to live with a
view to eternity.

 Book Three, The Church, examines the DNA of the church as revealed in the New Testament. The church is described as the
kingdom of God, the body of Christ, the temple of the Holy Spirit, a worshiping community, the family of God, a royal
priesthood, and the bride of Christ. The church is made up of forgiven sinners who are being perfected by God.
