1 Measurement of comfort, UPF, and structural parameters
The thermal absorptivity and thermal resistance were measured on the
Alambeta instrument as it satisfies the ISO 8302. The Alambeta has a measuring upper head than is able to simulate the human skin at 32°C and the testing was performed under a pressure of 200 Pa. The air permeability of the knits was determined in accordance with BS EN ISO 9237 using the FX 3300 air permeability tester at 100 Pa. Water-vapour resistance was measured using the Permetest (skin model) by simulating the wet and dry skin (Hes and Loghin, 2009). In-vitro UPF of the fabrics was measured in pursuance of the AATCC 183-2004 method. In this test, the fabrics were exposed to transmission UVR range 280-400 nm.
