Lab# 05:

Title:
To obtained Norton equivalent of a given AC circuit.

Components :
 3 resistors
 Inductor
 Capacitor
 AC source
 Ammeter
 Voltmeter
Procedure:
1. Open PSPICE , go to get new part .
2. Take necessary components :
For resistor writ “r” inductor write “L” , for capactor “ C” , ” Vprint” for
voltmeter, iprint for ammeter IAC for current source and vac for voltage .
3. Connect all components by clicked on draw wire and assign values by
double clicked on component.
4. For AC voltage source give value to AC mag and assign 0 to AC phase.
5. Do same for ac current source.
6. Connect voltmeter in parallel for findind Vth and ammeter in series
for finding Isc.
7. Go to “analysis” then “setup” enable AC sweep and double clicked it
give values to POINTS =1, START FREQ =50 and END FREQ=50.
8. Double click on voltmeter and write:
AC =Y , MAG=Y , PHASE=Y .
9. Do same for ammeter.
10 Save the files
11. Go to “analysis” click simulate.

12. Again go to “analysis” and click on “examine output”.

13 note the value of voltmeter as Vth and ammeter as Isc

Equation for Zth

Zth=Vth/isc

Circuit diagram for Isc:

FREQ IM(V_PRINT1)IP(V_PRINT1)

5.000E+01 2.500E+00 0.000E+00

Circuit Diagram for Vth:

FREQ VM($N_0002,0)VP($N_0002,0)

5.000E+01 3.677E+00 -1.712E+01

Zth=Vth/Isc

Zth=(3.677v)/(2.500A)

Zth=1.470ohm
