Sports is an activity that specially requires our physical skills. It has set of rules and
regulations which an individual, dual or a team competes in. Sports has also its types, aside
from team sports we have – the Individual and Dual Sports.
Individual sports are the activities which only one person or an individual is required to
play/compete in. Boxing, martial arts, swimming, fencing, golf, bowling, track and field,
badminton, weightlifting and many more are activities that are included in Individual sports.
These sports may seem difficult because you cannot rely on others because you only have
yourself, but with proper planning and preparation you could trust yourself and win.
Before going into a competition an individual should also practice which starts with
planning. When planning or preparing, a person must have a goal and a training matrix. An
individual must be aware what specific activity he/she will compete in, in order to have a
training matrix that will enhance and build the skills and strengths of an individual. Other than
that, the individual should also prepare the equipment that are required in that particular
sports. Practice must always be accompanied with rest, and time management should also be
considered. After preparing and planning, an individual should undergo proper training.
Training makes a person learn and enhance skills that are previously taught to him/her or new
to him/her. Similarly, these trainings may also teach a person to be technically and tactically
skilled in order to win the game. Technical skills in sports are very significant, these are the
basic skills that a person must posses in order to play the game. As an example in swimming,
you could learn technical skills by practicing how to dive and breath in the water, in badminton
is to know how will you serve or smash the shuttlecock over the net to the opposing player and
so on. Other than that, we have also the tactical skills that will increase the chances of an
individual winning the game. Tactical skills are those skills and strategies that requires critical
thinking. It is like technical skills but is accompanied by strategies. Given an example in
swimming, a person is performing tactical skills when he/she is demonstrating different strokes
that could give him/her an advantage to win. Also in badminton, an individual is performing
tactical skills if strategies are applied in playing. It happens when the player hits or aims the
shuttlecock to the opposing player’s disadvantage.
A sports whether it has individual, dual or team player, preparation and training always
comes first. Physical, critical and analytical skills makes and helps a player win.
