COURSE FORMATIVE OBJECTIVES:

The main objective of the course is to give an overview of the European and Italian economy, to describe
the main aspects of their competitiveness and economic growth.

INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the course students will be able to:

1. Analyse and understand the Italian business environment: the nature of the industrial districts and
agglomeration economies

2. Understand the economic scenario of the European Union; technological innovation

3. Case study approach: Analyse investment choice by multinational corporations in the European scenario.

PREREQUISITES

Basic knowledge of Innovation, Strategy and Marketing

COURSE CONTENTS

Overview of the roots and peculiarities of the Italian business environment in comparison with Europe, of
the main economic drivers of Italian and European economies, the patterns of innovation and new
technologies across Europe and in comparison with the U.S. and Asia, the location strategies of
multinational corporations in the European arena.
