Video Reflection #6 Presentation: Questioning Techniques and Cooperative Learning
Strategies
https://youtu.be/ipQmG8m9UWg
Summary:
 At 5:00 I asked them what I started with to reinforce my method of repetition while
learning the actions with the words.
 0:00-5:30 I asked everyone if someone could show me by raise of hand – what action we
started with.
 18:00-19:30 good place for a recap plus asking kids to high five another
 Then apply what I want to show to the class
 Teaching by wrote at beginning
 Adding actions on after words
 Breaking down actions as we go

Q1: Watch your video and describe the questions you are asking the students. Are they
mostly LOTS or HOTS questions? Are questions leading to a deeper understanding of the
content being learned?
A: I tried asking my students specific questions that I knew the answers to, but I wanted
them to try and answer it. Since I was teaching choreography, I was trying to force them to
remember the words, but also pair the words to the actions. I would ask them to demonstrate the
actions I was referring to in order to see if they can pick up the words and actions faster.

Q2: Describe any use of cooperative learning strategies in your lesson (think/pair/share).
Reflect on how cooperative learning strategies may improve student engagement when
used effectively.
A: Towards the end of my video, I had my students go around and high five a few people
around them when we finished our choreography. I would also ask many questions in succession
to see if kids were paying attention to the actions and learning the words as well. Repetition is
key with learning choreography, but it’s also good for different learning strategies. The visual
learners can see me moving, the auditory learners hear my instructions and our singing, and the
kinesthetic learners are in their element with learning choreography.
