To combine pattern pieces, use the circled numbers.

The edge that is

closest to the circled number is the edge that should be combined. Find
the coresponding pattern piece that also has the same numbered circle
and combine them. Do not overlap pattern pieces, just have the edges
touching. After pattern is combined, circles can be ignored.
