STREETDANCING COMPETITION

OFFICIAL RULES AND GUIDELINES

The 2022 Munato Festival Street Dancing Competition is a highlight of the province’s
foundation anniversary celebration and Munato Festival. It is open to all interested
participants from Mindanao representing a particular festivity depicting the culture of
their locality.
IMPORTANT REMINDER. Upon submission of the official entry form, the team must
enter into CONTRACT OF AGREEMENT with the Street Dancing Committee for the
purpose of ensuring no “last minute” withdrawal and/or pull out of entries as we will be
providing financial assistance. The TEAM COORDINATOR or AUTHORIZED
REPRESENTATIVE must sign the contract upon submission of the entry form. Violation
of terms in the contract shall result in blacklisting of entries for future Munato
Competitions and/or accompanying penalties within the contract. Deadline of

General Guidelines:
1. The contest is open to all performing dance groups within Mindanao.
2. Only 1 official coordinator and one choreographer will represent the group in all
coordination and meetings.
3. Each team must have minimum of () and maximum of () members, including
props men. Any excess beyond the maximum number of participants will merit a
point deduction equivalent to the total excess number of participants.
4. Competition day will be on October …. Each delegate must show coordination,
spirit, gracefulness, flexibility and energy while doing their performances and
dance routine.
5. The performance of each contingent shall draw inspiration from the tribe/festival
of the represented town/province. The notion of the Street Dancing Competition
will focus on the concept of Festival of festivals.
6. There shall only be a maximum of six (6) contingents. Prizes are below

First Prize: PHP.


Second Prize: PHP.
Third Prize: PHP.
Consolation PHP.

7. Performance should not exceed the time limit of 4-6 minutes. The time of the
performance starts with the first word of the participants. Point deduction will be
enforced and corresponding point from each judge’s total score shall be
deducted in the event the time limit is exceed.

8. The organizers through drawing of lots will determine the sequence or


arrangement of performance. The drawing of lots shall be done at the designated
parade starting point where the street dancing will commence.

9. Participating teams must be at the designated parade start point at least 30


minutes before the actual start of parade.
10. Ranking system shall be used. The rating shall go back to the actual average
points should there be a tie between contingents. In case a tie still ensues; the
chairperson will have to break the tie. In no instance shall a tie for the top prize
shall be declared. The decision of the judges will be final and irrevocable.

11. The decision of judges is final and irrevocable. Absolutely no participant,


contestant or representative shall be allowed to contact in any manner
whatsoever and judge with the intention of questioning the Board of Judge’s
announced decision.
MUSIC
1. Live music shall be used in the performance during the Grand Showdown
Competition.
2. The use of drums and other instruments is allowed.
3. During performance, musicians not performing should observe proper discipline
(no music for non-performing entries)
4. In case of violation of any of these, a total of ten (10) points will be deducted from
final score.
PROPS AND EQUIPMENTS
1. Using of harmful props is highly prohibited and pyro-techniques are highly
discouraged.
2. Risers, platforms, panels, and backdrops are strictly prohibited. However, hand
props are allowed as long as it is relevant to the theme/performance. Violation of
this guideline will be penalized with twenty (20) point deduction from the final
score.
INTERRUPTION OF PERFORMANCE
1. In the event that a performance is interrupted because of technical reasons
caused by the event equipment, facilities, etc. The team shall be given the option
to either resume the performance from where it stopped or repeat the entire
performance.
2. In the event performance is interrupted because of failure of team’s own
equipment supplies, tools, music, props, acts or any of the same kind, the team
must either continue the performance or withdraw from the competition.
