BATTLE OF THE BANDS MECHANICS

a. Each band is composed of 5-7 BJMP personnel and may invite one (1) civilian
member to play INSTRUMENT ONLY or may act as coach/trainer. Vocalist
should be a BJMP personnel.
b. Band must prepare two (2) songs; 1 Tagalog cover song and English cover
song. Songs must not contain subliminal, sexually suggestive or vulgar lyrics.
Songs should be based on the following genre:
1. Rock (slow rock)
2. Punk
3. SKA
4. Reggae
5. Pop
c. No medley songs allowed.
d. The band will be given only 10 minutes to prepare and perform their songs. One
(1) point shall be deducted from the total score per minute that exceeds the
allotted time.
e. You may bring your own instruments. Thus, Regional office will provide the
following instruments:
1. Lead Guitar
2. Bass Guitar
3. Keyboard
4. Drum Set
f. Wear your designated jersey uniform during your performance.

Criteria for judging:

Musicality/Harmony - 30%
 Accomplishment in music, quality of song, contraction,
expressiveness, blend and balance of instruments.

Creativity - 30%
 Originality of the music and performance, did they make the music
their own?

Performance - 30%
 Confidence and stage presence, did they enjoy performing?

Audience Appeal - 10%

 Response of crowd throughout the performance.

h. Only three (3) teams will be declared winners at the end of the competition.
i. Each band member will be judged individually in terms of performance as part of
the pre-selection process. Chosen member/s will represent this region in the
national competition.
