1. What is fishery?
Fishery can mean either the enterprise of raising or harvesting fish and other
aquatic life; or more commonly, the site where such enterprise takes place (a.k.a.
fishing ground). Commercial fisheries include wild fisheries and fish farms, both in
freshwater bodies (about 10% of all catch) and the oceans (about 90%).

2. What is aquaculture?
Aquaculture is breeding, raising, and harvesting fish, shellfish, and aquatic
plants. Basically, it's farming in water. U.S. aquaculture is an environmentally
responsible source of food and commercial products, helps to create healthier habitats,
and is used to rebuild stocks of threatened or endangered species.

3-6 What are the freshwater aquaculture species in the Philippines?


 Tilapia mainly Nile tilapia.
 Milkfish.
 Carp mainly bighead carp.
 Catfish.

4-8. What are the examples of brackish water aquaculture species in the Philippines?
 Milkfish

9-12. What are the examples of mariculture species in the Philippines?
 Finfish
 Shellfish
 Prawns
 Seaweed
13-15. What are the types of aquaculture systems?
 Water-based systems (cages and pens, inshore/offshore).
 Land-based systems (rainfed ponds, irrigated or flow-through systems, tanks and
raceways).
 Recycling systems (high control enclosed systems, more open pond based
recirculation).
