Chapter 1

Executive Summary

The term “PasaBike” came from the two-wheeled transport service, and is

located at Sto. Cristo Rd., San Pablo City. It has three services offered, namely:

MediCab, DalaKo, and Foodify. The PasaBike Delivery aims to partner with different

businesses in order to achieve the quotas in the peak, mid, and lean season by giving

employment and support to the businesses of the locals.

Since PasaBike is a start-up company, its delivery services will be confined to

San Pablo City and the residents are the target market. Toktok, Mr. Speedy, MyKuya,

and Watsons all are offering services that are substantially comparable. In the City of

San Pablo, there are also macro-environmental factors to consider, as they might

affect the business operations.

PasaBike Delivery operates under a sole proprietorship. There are two

managerial positions in the organizational chart of PasaBike Delivery, the marketing

and customer service manager, and the general manager. In the organizational policy,

the staff should take over the human resources, financial aspect, marketing, and

operations of the business. The delivery service also needs to comply with the

government requirements mandated by the government.

PO L YTEC H NI C UNIVERS IT Y OF THE PHIL IPP I NE S 3

PasaBike Delivery's online and technology processes account to 80% of its

activities, while personnel and physical operations account for 20%. The business'

main facility consists of only three rooms: office, sorting area, and a common lavatory.

The utilities to be used in the physical store of PasaBike are Electricity, Drinking Water,

Water and Wastewater Services, Internet, and Garbage Services.

As a marketing strategy, PasaBike uses Facebook as a tool to build the

business image. Aside from that, they also engage into the traditional flyer that is

distributed around San Pablo City and is attached and be given by the PasaBikers

during deliveries. It also has the annual celebration of the founding of the company by

gathering its bikers to roam around the town and be part of every activity related to

certain agendas.

From the financial aspect, the PasaBike has already earned during the first

year of its operation. The statements also show that the company recovers its PHP

500,000 investment in 2 years following the 1.46% and 2% increase annually.

Our proposed business is concerned not only with getting profit, but also with

promoting economic growth and opportunity. PasaBike Delivery’s impact and

contributions on the environmental and economic aspects of its target market – San

Pablo, Laguna – will be remarkable. It could contribute as an inspiration to reduce

emission of dangerous gases exhilarated by usual scooters and cars, and could help

boost San Pablo’s environmental awareness and economic state. Job

opportunities will be given and opened for the locals. Their knowledge about the city

will be the asset of the business and that will be the push factor to open more activities

and opportunities not only for the business but for the future members and partners of

the business. The business will be customer’s access and provider of options in any

related businesses that is what related to they’re request or order. One of the purposes

of the business is to acknowledge and prioritize the local businesses in San Pablo City

and to future cities that soon we’ll be part of. Opening a registration for local

businesses to the business will inform the locals about the businesses around and for

tourist in the city to know that there’s a lot to offer.

Company Profile

Name and Location of Business

The term "PasaBike" means that a rider will be the one to buy the items and

will be delivered using a E-Bicycle. Its name was based on the two-wheeled transport

vehicle. The services offered by PasaBike are "MediCab", "DalaKo” and

“Foodify”. MediCab, a combined term of 'medicine' and 'pedicab', is a delivery service

that focuses only on medicines or any other health-related products available in the

pharmacies. The possible customers of this are open to all since all ages are in need

of medicinal supplies. While DalaKo is a service that enables local businesses to have

a delivery partner for their product with a cheaper fee. And lastly, Foodify that caters

and being partner of the business to another that is related to food industry.

It is not for nothing that the E-Bicycle has become increasingly popular as a

mode of delivery in recent years. To begin with, an E-Bike is more environmentally

friendly than a scooter. This makes the services look good because many people are

environmentally aware. The environmental impact and costs of E-Bicycle delivery are

also minimal. You don't have to pay road tax or fuel, and upkeep isn't prohibitively

expensive. Furthermore, because E-Bicycle deliverers do not require a driver's

license, you can hire younger employees.

Figure 2. Business Logo

The logo features an e-bicycle symbol and is only composed of two colors –

green and blue. According to Cass (2019), green symbolizes the environment, while

blue expresses dependability. These meanings align with the purpose of PasaBike,

which is to offer delivery with a mindset of gaining trust from the customers through

providing excellent service without compromising the environment’s condition. Then

the presence of the e-Bicycle figure shows that the company embraces the use of an

e-Bicycle for transport, yet, in a more profound aspect, it portrays hope and unification.

“A courier service that observes mitigation of carbon production.”

The company’s corporate social responsibility is to operate as a delivery

business that uses a mode of transportation, particularly a bicycle, that does not emit

carbon dioxide and preserve the air’s pure quality. As a courier service, PasaBike

does not only aim to be one of the trusted delivery companies in the Philippines but

also be an epitome of how we, entrepreneurs, can conduct business, provide a

livelihood for the community, and render excellent service by observing sustainability

practices.

Future Services

In the year 2025, PasaBike Delivery foresees adding an additional offering

which is a transport service using an E-jeep and E-trike to assist tourists around the

city’s tourism destinations. The aim of this is to relive the historical and interesting past

of the San Pablo particularly the Seven Lakes that’ll help to boost its the Tourism

industry.

Size of Business

PasaBike is only a micro business as the starting capital only amounts to PHP

500,000. The operation will need no equipment, unlike the manufacturing companies.

The expensive cost that will only be encountered is the furnishing of the office.

In the succeeding years, the owners look into the possibility of offering

franchise to widen the scope of PasaBike not only in the province of Laguna but with

the other provinces around the country.

SWOT Analysis
Table 2

SWOT Analysis

STRENGTHS WEAKNESSES

 Niche market  Business unfamiliarity

 Competitive delivery cost  Limited type of delivery

 Two types of booking are available transport

 Limited services

OPPORTUNITIES THREATS

 Business expansion  Dominance of competitors

 Growth of online selling and food  Bad weather

deliveries  Steep and uneven roads

 Restricted movement of people

Strengths

PasaBike, a courier service that only serves a niche market, is a unique

characteristic of the company in contrast to the other delivery businesses that offer

various services. This concept gives the entrepreneurs a chance to focus on the

market's needs and own an image with a different purpose. Also, with ebicycles as

the mode of transport, cheaper costs are credited to the customers, giving everyone

a chance to avail the offered service. Aside from that, PasaBike accepts bookings
PO L YTEC H NI C UNIVERS IT Y OF THE PHIL IPP I NE S 13

through call and application, making it more convenient for the clients, especially the

senior citizens who are the market of MediCab.

Weakness

As a start-up business, PasaBike is still gaining a spot in the industry. It is a

factor of weakness since this can affect the sales of PasaBike compared to the

competitors who have already established an image. And as it only operates within

the city through E-Bicycle, the company’s services are limited as there are factors that

should be considered — the amount or size of the parcel and the type of product.

Opportunities

As online selling and food deliveries continues to be in demand because of the

restrictions due to the pandemic, PasaBike considers this an opportunity to maintain

its operation under the courier service industry. Considering that Filipinos today are

more conscious about their health, they would rely more on delivery companies rather

than going outside.

Threats

The PasaBike’s greatest threat is the dominance of numerous competitors as

this type of business is in demand today. Though PasaBike holds a place in the

industry for having a saturated market, the contenders’ brand images have already

earned familiarity and trust from the customers. Along with that is the challenge for the

PasaBikers brought by the natural calamities and the existence of steep or uneven

roads, making their work more demanding and laborious.

Background of Entrepreneurs

Maryjoy Caasi, a contributor to the establishment of

PasaBike, launched an online company that sells brand-

new and pre-loved clothing. At first, she sold her clothes

to raise resources to finance a larger clothing to keep her

businesses running. Her business, however, has been

put on hold for her to fully commit to her studies.

Giselle Ann Joy Delgado, a co-founder of PasaBike, has

a background in several businesses. The first one is on

the food business. Her family owns before a food

canteen in front of their house, and then now they're into

catering services. Because of the pandemic, they're

making use of the opportunities online as they open a

platform for pre-ordered food packs for canteens in offices, establishments with

employees to be accommodated, and small events. Aside from that, they're also into

homemade specialties that her family is proud of and being available for delivery. The

second one is Buy and Sell. Her family has an urban poultry farm that is conducting

buy and sell operations for cockfighters. They're also breeding chickens and renting

pieces of equipment for cockfighting matches.

Panda. As the founders discussed the vision of PasaBike

delivery company, she sought possible opportunities for

senior citizens of San Pablo City and those who live outside the city proper as she

experienced.

Kaye Anne Flores, one of the five aspiring entrepreneurs

and co-founder of PasaBike is an exceptionally bright,

yet quiet individual. She demonstrates a keen ability to

listen and desire to learn about business.

Kaye Anne has a background in several businesses. The

first is an online apparel business that sells both new and

used clothing. Second one is her family owns a Rice Farming Business. Also, they

started a business named “Bubble Bee Sabon Station” which sells detergent powder

and is also a refilling station of dishwashing liquid and fabric conditioner.

Hanna Guerrero, a co-organizer of the concept

“PasaBike,” engaged in business during the pandemic.

From a capital of 1 500, she established an online

clothing store that offered preloved items.

As a novice in the industry, Hanna participates in online

courses and webinars, particularly about starting an

online store, gaining sales, strengthening customer relationships, and what skills are

needed to be an effective seller. She believes that acquiring knowledge can mold her

into a competitive individual in the business industry and use it as a tool to own a

company someday.

Industry Analysis

Industry Profile

Larger couriers and smaller local delivery companies make up the global

courier and delivery services industry. The industry has been steadily expanding since

the outbreak of the pandemic, with some businesses collaborating with various

delivery platforms to provide convenience to their customers while also ensuring their

safety. PasaBike is a local delivery service that provides speedy service within the city

of San Pablo, Laguna. The courier service comprises pick-up and delivery to serve

and meet customers' needs and wants within the city limits.

The actual establishment of PasaBike Delivery will be located on a commercial

area in Sto. Cristo Rd., San Pablo City. The PasaBikers will have an E-Bicycle parking

space and a resting area outside the workplace. Customers can also leave their

packages with our riders to be delivered. Because most companies, such as

pharmacies, are already in the area, the business believes that the site is particularly

accessible to PasaBikers, allowing them to move around effectively.

When the pandemic broke out and going outside was restricted, most

individuals relied on delivery services because it was more convenient than going out

and jeopardizing their health safety. The delivery services market is at full capacity
PO L YTEC H NI C UNIVERS IT Y OF THE PHIL IPP I NE S 18
operating unlike other industries who’s operating almost half than their usual

operation, leading many entrepreneurs to launch their own delivery platforms in order

to deliver and satisfy customer’s needs and wants. People of all ages will be the target

market for PasaBike Delivery, as everyone requires medications and delivery

services; the business will also be open to partnering with other San Pablo-based

organizations such as the Home for the Aged and the Orphanage.

Since the delivery service business is constantly growing, PasaBike

encounters a slew of delivery couriers such as Toktok, MyKuya, MrSpeedy, and Pabili,

all of which provide nearly identical services to their customers and use vehicles that

contribute to pollution. PasaBike has its own distinctiveness, notably its 'MediCab'

category, where PasaBikers will assist customers with their medical needs. PasaBike

also promotes sustainability, which is why PasaBikers utilize E-Bikes to deliver,

reducing air pollution and fuel burns while also improving riders' health. Customers

can book efficiently online and via phone call.

Demand Analysis

PasaBike Delivery is an eco-friendly way of delivery services that is making use

of E-Bicycles as mode of delivery transport. PasaBike has this setup of opening an

office-warehouse and limiting as focused services from one city to another. The

services will be medical supplies and equipments and offerings of registered local

businesses catering their very own locally made cuisines, arts and crafts, and many

more. PasaBike will serve as the support connection for promotion and will be part of
PO L YTEC H NI C UNIVERS IT Y OF THE PHIL IPP I NE S 19

the tourism market. This will be applied to cities where the business will go for

expansion in the future.

For PasaBike Delivery’s launching, its location will be at San Pablo City,

Laguna. It has 6 districts with 80 barangays that has a total land area of 19,899

hectares. As per Philippines Statistics Authority (PSA) in May 2020, Laguna has an

annual growth rate of 2.30 in years of 2015-2020 and San Pablo City has an estimated

population of 288, 254 by 2021. For an economically active population it is stated that

members of the workforce are already at 65.90% (175,347) ages 15-64, while the old

dependent population has 5.14% (13,667) ages 65 and above that will represent the

buying population of the city (Census, 2015)

PasaBike Delivery’s market is open to anyone using different social media

accounts, specifically communication platforms such as Facebook, weblinks and

application, and hotline or phone numbers. The operation of the whole business is up

to the open possible costumers that are in need of a “Pasabuy” (an act of helping

others to get their needs and wants from others time and effort that is easy, fast, and

reliable) services and delivery.

Supply Analysis

PasaBike Delivery has 4 competitors, these are delivery transport services that

serves as the intermediary between the business and the consumer, names are
PO L YTEC H NI C UNIVERS IT Y OF THE PHIL IPP I NE S 20

TokTok, My Kuya, Pabili, and Mr Speedy. As part of the operations of the business,

there are two major strategies being launched with the business. First is, medicine or

health care products as one of the major focus of the delivery services of PasaBike

that has a purpose to help the senior citizens to be one call away for their medical

needs and it will be called MediCab. The second one is named DalaKo, delivering

products from local businesses and established ones and being part of the tourism

market. And third is Foodify, that caters orders and requests from different food

business that provides fast and be the solution to customer’s cravings. Aside from the

mentioned competitors above, direct business deliveries are the substitute

competitors example of that is Mercury Drug and Watson’s Pharmacy and others who

have their own delivery men.

For the number of persons/frequency that the competitors can be served is not

enclosed for the public to use for data gathering. They only state that they’re into

systems or programs that can gather and accommodate organizedly the amount of

requests and orders within the day 24/7.

Gap Analysis

The gap that this business plan sees through and will point out is the focus on

healthcare products and the opportunity for local businesses in a certain location or

city. A lot of different intermediary delivery services have been sprung up and active
PO L YTEC H NI C UNIVERS IT Y OF THE PHIL IPP I NE S 21

for the consumers to use for their needs and wants. They’ve been competing with

each other on how low cost and fast their delivery operations are. Most of them

deliveries are essentials but to be particular healthcare is not really the focus, it is not

affiliated most of them and small businesses are being just an option and not really

recommended because established ones are most commonly available to the market.

PasaBike will be launching and making a way to provide for more focused

services in areas such as healthcare products and opportunities for local businesses

in the area. Strategy will be opening registration for local pharmacies and businesses

to provide much affordable and fast accommodation of requests and orders. PasaBike

will search for nearby ones and deliver them to it without hassle on the customers'

part.

Market Analysis

Market Profile

B2B – Business to Business Promotion

PasaBike Delivery aims to build a partnership with local pharmacies and

local business owners to offer delivery services within San Pablo City. A

promotional posters and video presentations through social media

platforms and pop-out ads will emphasize the lack of attention to the

delivery of medical needs, which the company sees relevant, especially

in the pandemic, especially to those who live far away from the city
PO L YTEC H NI C UNIVERS IT Y OF THE PHIL IPP I NE S 22

proper. In addition to that, most online business owners tend to set an

appointment to meet up with clients at the city adequate plaza, which is

closed due to the current situation.

B2C – Business to Consumer Promotion

As people are more engaged on social media platforms, for example, a

short skit on Tiktok presenting the ease of ordering medicine at home

with less cost for a delivery fee should inform them about the offered

services of PasaBike Delivery. Promos such as discounts on customers’

first booked delivery should entice them as transportation fare at San

Pablo City increased, especially at barangays far from the city proper.

Target Market

PasaBike Delivery services will be limited to only San Pablo City as it is a start-

up business. The target market is the residents of San Pablo City Laguna with an

annual growth rate of 2.30%. Popular services amongst the San Pableños are food

delivery which paved the way for the founders to focus on medical supply delivery

services and online shopping transactions. In contrast, most sellers are unable to

deliver door-to-door.
PO L YTEC H NI C UNIVERS IT Y OF THE PHIL IPP I NE S 23

Market Segmentation

Residents who reside far from the city proper of San Pablo are the company's

probable clients as transportation fare is higher from there and are most likely to have

no access to the plaza. Competition against known companies is relevantly high as

the service location is limited to only one city. Still, with the current situation and the

nature of the consumers, delivery services will be positively embraced.

MyKuya

It is newly established situated at the national highway that targets an open

and just established a branch in San Pablo City, it is not yet known by many.

Toktok

Toktok also just established in 2021 and offer same-day delivery service but

have cheaper fee. As much as this company is trusted, there are conflicts and

issues stating that it scams clients.

Watsons Pharmacy

This is a competitor to as it mainly delivers medical supplies and other essential

products and is very-well known to adult women. But not many know about its

online pharmacy as it lacks advertisement.

Macro-Environmental Forces

Politics

The laws of the local government of San Pablo City requires business owners

to register for permits which include BIR, Mayor’s Permit, Architectural,

Civil/Structural, Sanitary/Plumbing, Electrical, Electronics & Mechanical with 3 copies

of each, bill of materials, and tax declaration. Inspection procedures should also be
PO L YTEC H NI C UNIVERS IT Y OF THE PHIL IPP I NE S 25

followed. Aside from that there’s also the need to comply with electrical, sanitary, and

plumbing permits all considered to be of hazard precautions. Their requirements are

sure to be followed by the company as it will affect the operations when standards are

not met. An example is the issuance of suspension or closure of business.

There are additional Requirements for Partnerships, Corporation and cooperatives

to be noted and followed as Pasabike Inc. is partnership owned:

 Authority from the partnerships, or the Board of Directors of the Corporation

to file application.

 Partnership or incorporation documents.

 Cooperative Development Authority documents in the case of

cooperatives.

 Affidavit stating that at least eighty (80%) percent of the unskilled workforce

must be bona fide residents of San Pablo City.

Economic

It is said that the contribution of the activities and involved characters are the

ones who boost and make way for the growth of the economy. In San Pablo City,

Laguna there are three classifications to it: The primary, secondary, and tertiary

sectors.
PO L YTEC H NI C UNIVERS IT Y OF THE PHIL IPP I NE S 26

The primary sector is the direct activities related to the environment and natural

resources. The raw goods and materials serve as the basic needs that will be used to

process the operations and become a source to a lot more industries. Number one

activity that can be identified is the Agricultural sector. It is predominantly because

San Pablo City is also seen and known as one of the large agricultural areas. It had

14,305.74 hectares of 72.41% of the total land area in 2015. Major crops are rice,

corn, cassava, fruit trees (lanzones, rambutan, banana, papaya, pineapple), and

vegetables (eggplant, squash, string beans, snap beans, pechay, ampalaya, upo,

mustard, raddish, cucumber, ube). Additional to that is the Livestock and Poultry

activities of the city. It is said that in 2017, San Pablo is the home of 3 identified farms

that become the source of raw goods in markets outside the city. Piggery, Poultry, and

Cattle are the major three productions. For the Fishery sector, as of 2018 fish

production is amounting at PHP 60,886,080.00 came from six lakes of Sampaloc,

Bunot, Yambo, Pandin, Palakpakin, and Mohicap.

The secondary sector is manufacturing. It is catering directly to the vital needs

of the consumers. Examples are electricity, gas, and water supply. Construction is

being part of it basing the building processes of the city and its private entities. In

2017, there were 186 manufacturing industries registered in the city. Total value of it

is estimated to be PHP 1,530,220,075.63, involving food, cosmetics, and drugs.

PO L YTEC H NI C UNIVERS IT Y OF THE PHIL IPP I NE S 27

For the tertiary and last sector is all about the service industry. Financial,

Wholesale, Retail Trade, Transportation, Communication, Personal and Community

Services, Education, Medical, Food, and Accommodation. Additional to that is the

growing relation to all of that with Tourism and its developments. One of the major

plans are to boost San Pablo City as an eco-adventure, cumhisto-cultural destination

in CALABARZON. One big move is that barangays are being aware and engaged to

boost what they have.

Social

San Pablo City is one of the oldest cities in the Philippines and the largest in

Laguna. Estimation in 2020 is that there are a total of 285,348 to its population. The

2015 Census stated that the highest population is aging to 5 to 9 years old the

dependent individuals while the lowest are 80 and above the seniors. 14 below

individuals is estimated to 77, 054. Working group aging 15 to 64 years old

individuals estimated to 175, 347. And the seniors, aging 65 and over are estimated

to be 13,667.

Knowing its growing population, what is being known to San Pablo City is their

rich culture as being their identity. As one of the oldest provinces in the Philippines,

the city itself screams that their places, culinary, arts and crafts, and the whole
PO L YTEC H NI C UNIVERS IT Y OF THE PHIL IPP I NE S 28

ambience of the city is rich with historic background and addition to that is the myths

that are being shared through time. Aside from that, natural wonders are being given

importance not only by the local government but also with the communities around

every area through activities and platforms.

Technology

PasaBike Delivery will be using online platforms to mass promote and advertise

its services to offer and create a brand of its own. But since the population of San

Pablo City shows that there is a larger percentage of senior citizens, connecting with

them may be a challenge. Hence, the company will accept booking services through

cellular and phone calls to cover a wider range of market.

Environmental

The average percentage of the sky covered by clouds in San Pablo varies

significantly throughout the year. The hot season lasts 2.0 months with an average

daily high temperature of more than 90°F, whereas the cool season lasts 2.7 months,

with an average daily high temperature of less than 84°F. Aside from that, the city of

San Pablo's steepness or uneven roadways and topography can be a challenging role

for the PasaBikers.

PO L YTEC H NI C UNIVERS IT Y OF THE PHIL IPP I NE S 29

Legal

Bikers must wear a facemask and helmet, according to Ordinance No. 42,

Series of 2020, which has been in effect since April of last year. A fine of Php 2,000

to Php 5,000 or a month in prison could be imposed for violating this ordinance. The

city of San Pablo strongly encouraged bikers to purchase a headlight and a compact

flashing device to use on a daily and nightly basis. They urge bicyclists not to stay in

vehicles' blind spots to avoid accidents.

Form of Ownership

A sole proprietorship, often known as a sole trader or proprietorship, is an

independent business with only one owner who's responsible for the taxation on the

business' profits. One of the key advantages of a sole proprietorship is the pass-

through tax benefit, as well as the ease of organization and minimal startup and

maintenance costs. Furthermore, they are simple to set up, making them popular

among small business owners and contractors (Twin, 2020).

PasaBike Delivery will operate as a sole proprietorship and will be an entity

having unlimited liability. The owner of PasaBike Delivery will be in charge of all

business transactions and financial obligations, as well as overseeing the overall

operations. For the time being, the delivery service will be solely owned, however if

the business grows, it may be possible to transition to another form of ownership.

service to be available at all times and should be able to cover the city of San Pablo.

Then there are only one (1) of each: CEO, General Manager, Marketing and Customer

Service staff.

The CEO who is on top of everything, both the technical and physical

operations of the company including the financial matters and legal paperwork,

making sure that the General Manager’s reports are accurate. The General Manager

helps the CEO for arranging financial matters of the company and is also the decision

maker who listens to other employees regarding their opinions and concern for the

betterment of PasaBike Inc., all of which are reported to the CEO. This is followed by

the Marketing and Customer Service Staff who are assigned to handle promotional

materials and strategies and consult the General Manager if there is a budget needed

for the marketing and await its approval.

The MCS will also be behind the technical operations as booking records will

be handled, updated, and reported back to all members mentioned above excluding

the riders. As this will involve financial statements and identify the rate of demand and

supply which is significant to formulating a marketing strategy. Lastly, the core of

physical operations, the PasaBike riders who do not just simply pick-up and deliver

but render the cash to the General Manager as cash-on-delivery mode of payment is

available and are inspected regularly to observe the company code of conduct.

declared in the Philippines as per position of the member of the organization to oblige

the PD No. 442, The Labor Code of the Philippines which also covers the basic

benefits that the employers should provide.

Operation Plan

Technical Process

PasaBike Delivery comes up with 80% of online and technological process of

operation and 20% to manpower and physical operations. Normally and being used

to is a business to person contact but now with advancement of technology, online

platforms, weblinks and applications are being providers of fast data gathering,

services and tracking. PasaBike Delivery will use the majority of online and

technological access as communication and system for the data and information and

also for organization and monitoring of order process.

Figure 5. Technical Process

PO L YTEC H NI C UNIVERS IT Y OF THE PHIL IPP I NE S 51

The PASABIKE Delivery operations will be starting through the customers’

processed online orders and requests in the website that is open for 24/7 and phone

calls during office hours. For the website orders and requests it will be directly

received, confirmed, and saved by the PasaBikers for same day buying and delivery.

For phone calls, it will be operating within office hours it will be received, confirmed,

and saved by the IT person and will be distributed to the system used by the

PasaBikers. The PasaBikers will be the way to accomplish the orders and requests of

customers with the businesses registered as options of PASABIKE Delivery. For the

audits and weekly to monthly checking of the business through the CRM availed and

used by PASABIKE will be checked by the IT personnel and will be making a report.

Disclaimer:

PasaBike Delivery will be only responsible for giving estimations on how long

the deliveries will be processed and delivered, it is still dependent on the operations

of the business being partnered to.

Physical Plant and Facilities Layout

Figure 7. Floor Plan

PasaBike’s main location is at Sto. Cristo Rd, San Pablo City, Laguna which is

a perfect place as it is situated at the city center. The floor plan of the office was

designed in a simple layout. Three (3) divisions are present as the business just
PO L YTEC H NI C UNIVERS IT Y OF THE PHIL IPP I NE S 54

needs a physical office for the employees to conduct its overall operation. The facility

only consists of three (3) rooms - one for technicalities, another for the sorting of the

products to be delivered, a common restroom and one (1) open space that serves as

the reception area and waiting area of the customers.

Waste Disposal System

PasaBike will observe less trash production by using recyclable papers and

reusable packaging. But with the other waste, the management will practice sorting of

garbage to ensure that appropriate segregation is done as a method for the internal

disposal system.

For the external, the segregated waste will be picked up by the local

government garbage services and be dumped in the city's sanitary landfill. As the

company is only a courier service and not a manufacturing one, the amount of junk to

be collected is minimal.

Utilities

Electricity

To conduct the office and business operation, PasaBike will be

needing an electrical supply. Meralco, as the leading power

provider, is the preferred supplier.

PO L YTEC H NI C UNIVERS IT Y OF THE PHIL IPP I NE S 55

Drinking Water

The Ozone Pure Water Refilling Station is only 5 minutes

away from the office, making the delivery fast and convenient.

The provision of drinking water is for the employees and riders.

Water and Wastewater Services

For the water supply and sewerage system, Pasabike will

partner with the San Pablo City Water District. This is for the

comfort room, and cleaning of the office and bicycles.

Telecommunication and Internet Services

As the business will be operating through the use of internet,

PasaBike considers availing the services of PLDT. This can also

include phone services that would be beneficial for a

moreconvenient inbound and outbound communication.

Garbage services

As the location of the office is along the plaza, waste is

gathered daily. But the company will observe sustainable

practices to lessen garbage production.

PO L YTEC H NI C UNIVERS IT Y OF THE PHIL IPP I NE S 56

CRM Software

PasaBike Delivery will adapt the utilization of a CRM

Software to manage company’s operation in a more

convenient way.

Quality Assurance

Customer Loyalty

In order to acquire customer loyalty, Pasabike Delivery made a concept namely

2R: Rewards and Recognition. The delivery service will provide rewards like discounts

and freebies to their customers. In the recognition, PasaBike will make a post on their

social media wherein they will post the customer with their consent, in which they will

share trivia or information based on the product's relevancy.

Repeat Business

Aside from the 2R principle, maintaining an active social media presence is

essential, since customers are increasingly active on social media. Since one of the

PasaBikers' key clients are senior citizens, good communication is necessary.

Customers may be more satisfied as a result of this, and it may be one of the key

reasons why they will return to PasaBike Delivery.

Customer Referral
PO L YTEC H NI C UNIVERS IT Y OF THE PHIL IPP I NE S 57

Through providing quality delivery service, existing customers will encourage

their family, friends, and colleagues to experience the quality service. Also, word of

mouth is one of the most effective marketing tactics of all time. PasaBike Delivery can

benefit from the referral by engaging and exploiting their brand's most valuable asset:

their consumers.

Improved Safety

To maintain the safety of the riders and the quality of the product to be

delivered, the management will ensure that all PasaBikers are equipped with the

proper gears as they deliver and equipped with proper training. Daily inspection of the

bicycles is also to be observed to assess if it’s in good condition.

Improved Market Positioning

To earn a higher position in the market, PasaBike will strictly implement strong

communication between the company and the clients through sincere accommodation

of requests, concerns, or problems. Moreover, the marketing head will be conducting

thorough research to search for potential partners and customers.

Reduced Liability Risks

As a measure of reducing legal incidents or liabilities, the PasaBikers and

employees will undergo training to comply with the set standards of the company and
PO L YTEC H NI C UNIVERS IT Y OF THE PHIL IPP I NE S 58

of the city. This includes how to treat confidential information, proper handling of

customer requests, and other appropriate behaviors to increase the company’s

performance.

The PasaBike stands by its tagline: Always Keep Your Life Moving Easily and

seen on the shirts of the PasaBikers. As a result, it will serve as a daily reminder to

every Filipino to be conscious and kind to the environment. It is chosen to be the

company’s tagline because it perfectly symbolizes the back and bone and the how

and why of PasaBike is created to function as a business but be aware of issues and

agendas related to making an effort to take care of the environment. Through this, the

company can envision its mission, and fulfill its vision - to be proof that being

update deliveries and ongoing inventories. Second, Process and Professionalism

training that will teach them how to correctly keep packages by the standards of the

business and navigation to the routes to ensure that they are on time arrival. And

PasaBike Delivery's main and sole branch will be at 115 Sampaguita St., Brgy.

Sto. Cristo, San Pablo City, Laguna. Since it is a courier business, we will have a

single branch in San Pablo City where clients can drop off their packages as well as

for the PasaBikers, they can pick up the delivery and rest in their area.

PasaBike Delivery will expand and open a business in Alaminos City, Laguna,

if the business progress in the next three years of its operation. One of the justifications

that the next branch will be in Alaminos City is that the majority of the city's courier

services came from San Pablo City, Laguna. As a result, it is preferable to open a

branch here for the convenience of consumers and to provide a courier service in the

vicinity of Alaminos.

Figure 11. Operating Hours

PO L YTEC H NI C UNIVERS IT Y OF THE PHIL IPP I NE S 64

PasaBike Delivery will be open Monday through Sunday to accommodate

customer bookings. This is helpful in a way that customers can book at any time and

on any day, depending on their availability. Considering PasaBike Delivery is in San

Pablo City, traffic is not an issue, as it is in the metropolitan area.

Figure 11.1

From Monday to Sunday, PasaBike Delivery will be open 24 hours a day.

Customers can also schedule delivery at any time, particularly on the 'MediCab,' which

is available to provide medications in the event of an emergency. However, because

PO L YTEC H NI C UNIVERS IT Y OF THE PHIL IPP I NE S 65

there are more customers during the day, there is a probability that PasaBikers on the

day are more than the night shift.

Price

Pricing is a competition and a business should stand out from the market for

being affordable and quality based or have good services. When a customer

compares his or her choices, one of the biggest factors would be the amount of their

products and services. In our chosen business and being a courier service delivery

fee is a major market and push factor of the business.

The business plans to utilize competitive pricing as its pricing strategy. As per

Investopedia, competitive pricing is the process of selecting strategic price points to

best take advantage of a product or service-based market relative to the competition.

The table below shows the delivery fees of PasaBike.

Table 8. Prices

Distance Rate

Within city proper PHP 59.00

Additional 1km PHP 10.00

Additional 2km PHP 20.00

PO L YTEC H NI C UNIVERS IT Y OF THE PHIL IPP I NE S 66

As observed from the table, PasaBike Delivery fees start at PHP 59 and PHP

10 is added with every additional kilometer. The outcome of the chosen pricing

strategy is based on the prices of the competitors. Note that the competitors’

mentioned rates are their fees if a motorcycle is chosen as the vehicle type, yet

PasaBike will use bicycles because of being focused on one location or city

only. MyKuya is eliminated from the factors because it operates at an hourly rate which

does not coincide with the commission-based business of PasaBike.

Promotion

Figure 12. Flyers

PO L YTEC H NI C UNIVERS IT Y OF THE PHIL IPP I NE S 67

The PasaBike delivery service will distribute double sided flyers for the first

three months of its operation in the vicinity of San Pablo City in Laguna in order to

form a profile and attract customers. Flyers are one of the oldest marketing strategies,

but they are still effective since they are a low-cost, easy, and efficient way to inform

people about the business. The flyer's design is inspired by nature and based on the

logo's colors. Considering the fact that PasaBike promotes sustainability, it is

preferable to choose green which is less irritating to the eye and at the same time

symbolizes nature.

Figure 13. Sales Promotion Strategy

PO L YTEC H NI C UNIVERS IT Y OF THE PHIL IPP I NE S 68

In order to entice customers, the PasaBike Delivery will have an introductory

pricing that is 15% lower than the original delivery fee using the code

"PASABIKEAKO". This will be the plan for engaging prospects and customers,

as well as presenting the new business to the residents of San Pablo, Laguna. This

Employment

PASABIKE Delivery will offer job opportunities for the locals. Their knowledge

about the city will be the asset of the business and that will be the push factor to open

more activities and opportunities not only for the business but for the future members

of the business. First members will be known as PasaBikers (deliverymen) that will

cater the request and orders of other locals that we will call “Pasabuy” and to the

employees as management.

Tourism Market

One of the purpose of the business is to acknowledge and prioritize the local

businesses in San Pablo and to future cities that soon we’ll be part of. Opening a

registration for local businesses to inform locals about the businesses around and for

tourist in the city to know that there’s a lot to offer.

Community

Business

PASABIKE Delivery will be the supporting factor for the local businesses. The

business will be the platform for them to be known by the people of San Pablo City.

They will be prioritized through the orders and request also of the consumers.

Purposeful Activities

PASABIKE Delivery are not only for business purpose but tackles certain

agendas such as sustainability, being eco-friendly and proposing healthy lifestyle.

Deliveries will be sent through the use of bicycles for lessing the carbon emission that

produced by chemicals and gasses. Another thing will be proposing biking as a

movement of exercise for the PasaBikers while being at work. *dugtungan pa*

Customer

Accessibility

The business will be their access and provider of options in any related

businesses to what they requested or ordered. Another one is that medical supplies

and equipments are the number one focus of PASABIKE Delivery.

PO L YTEC H NI C UNIVERS IT Y OF THE PHIL IPP I NE S 84

Proponents

The proponents of this business proposal are aware of the probability of failing

and are motivated by the possibility of the returns. Formulating this proposal will help

the authors properly calculate and envision the risks of the business. Through this,

they are also creating a concrete plan to avoid unpreparedness. If such a proposal is

acted upon and will result in success, then the financial, environmental, and

economical returns of this business will be attained.

Aside from the benefits the proponents can get from the company, PasaBike

Delivery’s impact and contributions on the environmental and economic aspects of its

target market – San Pablo, Laguna – will be remarkable. It could contribute as an

inspiration to reduce emission of dangerous gases exhilarated by usual scooters and

cars, and could help boost San Pablo’s economic state. If further developed, PasaBike

Delivery could branch out to different places in the Philippines. It will be a growing

company, advocating sustainability and accessibility.
