The conflict of the story is person vs society but also person vs self. Louise Mallard’s husband

in her life how to enjoy true self.

Louise Mallard’s husband died and she went through many emotions but through that she is
able to learn for the first time in her life how to enjoy true self. Also she struggles against the
sexist society she lives in.

3. What is the climax in this story? How do you know you are correct?

I think the Climax of the story is that Mallard finally realized that she if free to be in order to
be her own person and woman. I know because the climax is the most exciting part of the story
and this part is that.

4. Name the types of irony used in the story & detail where it can be found, as well as how
this spot in the story fits the definition of the irony stated.

The types of irony used in the story are dramatic, verbal and situational. It can be found in the
story because it explains the oppression women had to go through during the 19th century and
also hod to sacrifice their joy and happiness for their husband while her being powerless in
their marriage.

5. Name 2 potential symbols and state their abstract meaning.

2 symbols used in the story are the patches of blue sky which represent Mrs. Mallard received
the news about the death of her husband but the patches of blue sky represented hope while in
her situation she was presented. I think Mrs. Mallard can also be a symbol because of the
situations women were found during the 19th century but when her husband died it gave her
freedom.

represents how she is away from the world and is in like in another one.
