Credit cards are widely used in many countries of

the world due to it is very convenient to our daily
transactions. However, frauds in credit card
transactions have caused signiZcant losses to its
clients and merchants every year. Hence,
researchers have been vigorously Znding solutions
to tackle the problem and one of them is to
perform mining on the credit card big data. The
collected credit card data can be quite a challenge
for researchers, because the data exhibits
unbalanced class distribution, and overlapping of
class samples. Consequently, the detection rates
of fraud transactions are low. In this talk, I will
present part of my team research work, which is
to improve the fraud detection rate by using
Multiple ClassiZers System and Stacking
ClassiZers.

Dr. Ng is an academician with more than 20 years

of teaching experience. Currently he is an
Associate Professor attached to the School of
Computing at Asia PaciZc University of Technology
& Innovation (APU). He enjoys lecturing, provides

Some of his researches are funded by the
government ministries, and they involved the
collaboration of researchers from several
universities in Malaysia. The outputs of these

Asia PaciZc University. Mandava’s current passion
is in teaching and researching in Data science. Her
teaching courses include Deep learning, Machine

Mandava is a retired Professor of School of
Computer Sciences, University Sains Malaysia
(USM). At USM, she has 35 years of professional
career with both breadth and depth in several
areas of expertise and has made signiZcant
contributions in these areas. Mandava’s research
has spanned from machine vision, robotics, image
analysis, medical imaging, Neuroimage analysis,
artiZcial intelligence, computational intelligence,
data mining through several research projects. In
Neuroimaging the speciZc focus was on Diiusion
based imaging with a primary objective to extract,
visualise and examine brain white matter Zber
tracts to assist in the early diagnosis of
neurodegenerative diseases and assist neuro
surgery. While major research domain has been
image related, her focus is on the core methods
that are applicable to many other domains. These
core methods are: Pattern Recognition, ArtiZcial
Intelligence, Datamining, Optimization and Meta-
heuristics. Mandava has taught a wide variety of
courses in Computer Science, Electrical
Engineering, Mechatronics and Automation. She
has supervised more than 40 postgraduate
students that includes 4 Post doctoral, 14 PhD and
several MSc (Research) students. She has more
than 170 publications to her credit with several of
the publications in peer reviewed impact factor
journals and top conferences. She has served the
academic community through invited keynote
presentations at International conferences,
conducted workshops in special topics related to
her research, served as an associate editor to IFAC

Complex matters requires senior lawyer's

attention. When an assignment is received, key
parameters will be captured and immediately
assigned for the immediate attention of senior
lawyers. This is to avoid random assignment of

Managing resources is a priority, where average
billing will determine whether there is a need to
increase manpower proportionate with the work
and additional workforce is justiZed Znancially.

Managing court diary

it is a huge task to manage multiple cases at the

same time and ensuring all Zles are attended to
given the necessary timeline. Litigation Zles are
time sensitive and also need lawyers to attend to
the respective cases accordingly. Big data allowed
us to adhere to the strict timelines imposes by
Court while reducing the accidental overlook.

Human resource

It is essential to track who will be going on leave

and synced with court diary to ensure no cases is
left unattended. Leave is managed prudently and
without any hiccups. On top of that since lawyers
also remunerated with commission based on the
billing, taxation issues are also taken care
automatically.
