SCENE 1_The LAB

The lab is dark and a figure seems to be moving in the center of the room. Lights turn on and Dr.
Frankenstein gets inside the lab and finds Frankie on the floor, hurt in the leg.

Dr. Frankenstein: Frankie! Where were you? I’ve been looking all over for you.

Frankie: I went to the city, I wanted to play with other kids and see the world with no fear. But that
didn´t go so well.

Dr. F: Oh no! You´re hurt. What happened to your leg?

Frankie: I was playing in the park with some kids from the block when suddenly, some big boys
appeared and started shouting at me and calling me monster. I started running through the forest,
but I fell down on my knee and I broke it.

Dr. F: (while healing Frankie) Oh Frankie, what a cruel world we are in.

Frankie: Yes, it is a cruel world. I shouldn´t have left the lab. You’re the only person that is ever going
to love me. I´m just so different and nobody want to be my friend.

Dr. F: Don´t say that Frankie. Unfortunately, we live in a society that believes we should all be the
same. Same dreams, same faces, same bodies. There are only a few people who dare to think
differently. Those are the ones who are building a better future. A future where a person can be
whoever they want to be and achieve their goals with love and tolerance.

Frankie: Yes, that is the kind of place where I would like to live. A place where, we all would love and
accept each other for who we are. When is that future happening dad?

Dr. F: I don´t know for sure. But in many, many years from now. Maybe in 200 years or more. Would
you really like me to send you that far away? You may be alone for a while, because I won´t be able
to go with you. But I am positive that you will find people who love you and friends to live with.

Frankie: I´d like that. But I don´t want to leave you.

Suddenly, hard knocks on the door: PUM PUM PUM. People outside screaming: Open the door
doctor, we know you have a monster inside. We’re going to take it.

Dr. F: Sh! Frankie come on. Let´s put you inside the freezing machine and send you to the year 2030. I
hope by then, people are changed and respect each other. Hurry up; we have a few minutes before
they manage to get inside.

They go to another part of the room where there is a machine (cupboard).The Dr sets the machine in
2030 .

Dr. F: Get inside Frankie, this is not going to hurt. You are going to fall asleep and when you wake up,
everything is going to be different. Just trust. You will have a wonderful life.
Frankie: I´m scared. I love you. What am I going to do without my father?

Dr. F: You´re going to grow stronger. You’re going to be happy. I love you too. And don´t be scared.
Everything is going to be just fine…

The Dr. closes the door as Frankie gets inside. He pushes a button and SMOKE!!!
 SCENE 2_The Park

Frankie appears in a place full of plants and bushes and a bench. He looks around and sees no one
and he doesn´t know where he is. He stays still for a moment and then he listens some kids are
getting closer.

Tommy: Did you like the movie?

Grace: Not so much. I found it boring; I felt asleep at some point.

Tommy: Me neither. Hey, shhh! What’s that noise?

Grace: (she listens carefully) It comes from behind that bush! (She points at the tree)

Tommy: Hey! (He yells) Who are you? What are you doing hiding behind that bush?

Frankie: Please don´t hurt me (he says in a crying voice), I´m good. I don´t know where I am, can you
tell me?

Frankie and Grace look at each other suspiciously

Grace: Come here so we can look at your face if you want answers

Frankie starts walking very slowly towards them

Frankie: Hey guys! My name is Frankie

Tommy: Hey, Frankie as in Frankenstein? Why are you wearing a costume? Halloween was two
months ago.

Grace: Yeah, but it´s a great costume though.

Tommy: Let´s take a picture!

Tommy takes his phone away and the kids stand right next to Frankie and start taking a lot of selfies

Frankie: What are you doing? This light is hurting my eyes

Grace: Come on! It´s not that bad. Look, this picture is amazing

Tommy shows the picture to Frankie and Frankie screams!!

Frankie: Noooooooooo!!!!!! You took my soul! Give it back

Tommy: What are you talking about? It’s just a picture. If you don´t like it we can take another one.
Come!

Tommy gets closer to Frankie to take another picture and Frankie steps away. He looks scared
Grace: Oh you´re funny Frankie. You´re wearing such a fantastic costume and you don´t want to be
taken pictures. I’m Grace King and he´s my brother Tommy by the way.

Frankie: Hi Tommy and Grace, nice to meet you. Thank you for calling me fantastic, but I have to say
that this is not a costume, this is my real face.

(Tommy and Grace start laughing out loud)

Tommy: Great joke buddy. That cannot be your real face, but it looks real enough

Frankie: That´s because it is my face, touch it

(Tommy takes a step backwards, but Grace goes directly to the face and she touches his cheek and
pulls a little)

Grace: It seems glued to your skin

Frankie: It is my skin. What year are we in?

Tommy: 2019, December 2019. Why? Are you going to tell us you´re not from this century and that
you are the real Frankenstein?

Frankie: Well, I don´t know who the real Frankenstein is, but my creator´s name was Frankenstein
and he called me Frankie, more than one hundred years ago. I was born in 1831 to be accurate.

Tommy and Grace are speechless; they look at each other without saying a word

Frankie: But there must be some mistake. Last I remember, my father put me inside a machine that
was supposed to take me to the year 2030, not 2019. I don´t understand why I´m here now.

Grace: According to the book, you died in the past, and so did your father, Dr. Frankenstein (she said
and her voice was trembling)

Frankie: Are there books about us?! Wooooow, that is amazing.

Tommy: Yeah, you´re famous dude! And why did your father send you to the future?

Frankie: Because people wanted to kill me back then and my father tried to protect me. He said that
in 2030 people should be friendlier and more tolerant.

Grace: Well….maybe in 2030, but now, in 2019 we´re still trying to build a better future. People have
changed, but there´s a lot of work to do yet.

Tommy: Don´t worry Frankie, come with us. Let´s go to our home so you can sleep there tonight.
Let´s not tell mum and dad yet, we don´t want them to freak out!

Grace: I agree. And we can look for more answers and read your story on the internet

Frankie: On the what?!

Grace: The internet (Frankie looks at her puzzled). It´s like a huge web where you can find all the
information you want

Frankie: And what about the spiders? Are there spiders there?

Tommy: No Frankie! It’s not a real web, it´s inside a computer. We´ll teach you everything

(They start walking and chatting)

 SCENE 3_The House

The three kids are getting inside the house very quietly, everything is dark, and there are no lights on.
And when they are in the middle of the room someone asks:

Mother: What took you so long? The movie ended centuries ago!

The mother, sitting on the coach turns on the light of the living room

Mother: And who´s this kid dressed as Frankenstein?

Grace: Oh! hi mum! (She sounds nervous). This is Frankie, our new friend; we met him at the park
when we were coming back from the cinema

Frankie: Hello Mrs. King, nice to meet you.

Mother: Hello Frankie, you should know that is getting late, you must go to your house immediately;
your parents must be worried.

Frankie: yes, errrr (he is very nervous and he can´t find the words to speak)

A man gets inside the room, he´s the kids´ father, Mr. King

Father: Hi kids! I was looking for you, how was the movie? And hey! You brought a character from
the cinema to the house! Who is this lovely kid inside the costume?

Tommy: Dad, this is Frankie, our new friend

Father: Ok Frankie, tell me where you live so I can take you home, it´s getting dark outside and it´s
dangerous to go home alone

Frankie: Thank you Mr. King, but I can go alone, it´s not a problem

Father: Oh no! I insist

Grace: Dad, he doesn´t have a home. He’s just come from the future. There must have been a
problem with the machine that brought him here. He was supposed to go to the year 2030 and
instead, the machine left him in 2019.

Father: What????!!!!! Are you telling me this is the real Frankest… (he can´t finish the question and
he faints. The mother and the kids stop him from hitting the floor)

Mother: He fainted! Let´s take him to the sofa (they start touching his face until he wakes up).
Darling, are you ok?
Father: Yes, I had the strangest dream; Frankenstein was inside our house (he looks up and sees
Frankie) aaaaahhhhhh!!!!! (He screams)

Grace: Don´t worry dad, he´s very nice

Frankie: You see? That´s what happen to people when they see me. They assume that because I look
different from them, I am mean. BUT I AM NOT!! I just want to have some friends (and he starts
crying)

Tommy: It´s ok Frankie, don´t cry. My father gets scared very easily. It´s not your fault

Frankie: My father sent me to the future so I can be happier and get to know people who love me for
who I am and not the way I look. I’ve just got here. The kids were so nice to bring me here.

Mother: And we will take care of you Frankie. Right now let´s have a meal all together and discuss
what we can do during dinner. Dr. Frankenstein was a wise man. If he sent you here to have friends,
that´s what you´re going to do, make friends!

Tommy: Yes!! And there´s no better way to get friends than going to:

Tommy and Grace: SCHOOL!! (And they all laugh)

(Smoke and music from Friends)

 SCENE 4_The School

RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING

Helena, Tommy, Grace and Frankie get inside the classroom and take their sits.

(Song: Rock yhis way AC DC starts playing) Aron, Juliy and Katie (the bullies) get inside the room after
them (Short coreography)

Katie: Oh wow, look at the nerds, they decided to bring a bodyguard to protect them!

(Aron and Juliy laugh)

Aron: Yeah, the costume looks fake, you could at least have brought a more realistic one (the three
bullies laugh)

July: And don´t even think that costume is going to protect you. You´re going to get kicked outside,
just because you decided to wear that terrible outfit, you fool!

Katie: Yes you are!

RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING

(with this second bell all the kids go to their sits, The Teacher gets inside the room)

Teacher: Good morning everyone, how are you feeling today?

July: Great teacher, except for this new kid over there, he´s all green, I think he´s going to puke

(The bullies laugh out loud)

Teacher: Don´t be disrespectful July.

Helena (another student): Yeah, your face doesn´t look good either and nobody tells you anything
July

The whole class: Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

(The teacher looks at Frankie as If he knew him somewhere)

Teacher: (to the new boy) Are you ok? This is your first day here, right?
Frankie: This is my first day here or in any other school. I’ve never been to a school before. My father
used to keep me in the basement so people wouldn´t hurt me. Most people is afraid of me for the
way I look

Katie: And they should! You look horrible man (the bullies laugh)

Tommy: Don´t be mean. He is so friendly

Teacher: What´s your name kid?

Frankie: My name is Frankie and I come from 1831. My father put me inside a time machine to take
me to 2030 but I guess something went wrong and I ended up in 2019.

(The teacher looks puzzled but not scared and he seems to believe Frankie´s story)

Aron: So you´re a monster! Let´s kill the monster!!

July: Yeah! You don´t belong here you freak!

Teacher: Quiet! (he raises his voice) Nobody is killing anyone. Frankie is here now so that means he is
staying and we should all make him feel welcome. I´m going to call for a parents´ meeting so we can
discuss the different possibilities on what to do

Grace: Thank you teacher, we knew we could count on you to make thing right

Helena: We will protect you Frankie! You have friends now!

Tommy: Do you see Frankie? I told you were going to be ok

Teacher: Please tell your parents to come to the meeting this afternoon. It´s URGENT to solve this
situation

RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING
 SCENE 5_ Parents’ meeting at school

RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING

The relatives of the kids get inside the room and take their sits

Teacher: Good afternoon and thank you very much for coming. I’m sorry for meeting you for the first
time under these circumstances, but the situation is very important. I would like to know first who
you are related to

Mrs. and Mr. King: We´re Tommy and Grace´s parents but we´ve met before

Teacher: Oh yes! I remember. You were here the first day of school. And you Mrs. who are you? (he
looks at a woman sitting there looking at her phone)

Katie´s mum: I´m Katie´s mum, but as you can see I´m very busy so the quicker we finish this, the
better.

Helena´s aunt: I´m Helena´s aunt, their parents are working at the moment but we wanted to be part
of the meeting so I came instead

Teacher: Excellent Mrs., thanks for your commitment. And you are? (he looks at a man in the back of
the room)

Aron´s grandfather: I´m Aron´s grandfather. Aron and July´s parents are not coming and I thought
this meeting was very important so I wanted to be part of it

Teacher: Great! The more the merrier. Let´s start talking about possible solutions for Frankie

Katie´s mum: I strongly believe that this new kid, if you can call it a kid, is going to be very bad
influence on my poor little baby Katie. She´s so innocent and a monster like that could turn her into a
bad person

(They all look at each other in disbelief)

Helena´s aunt: And what do you propose?

Katie´s mum: Well, I wouldn´t kill anyone, but I would send him away and let other people handle
the monster, maybe a lab.

Mrs. King: That´s a horrible idea! The kid is not a monster; you are one for saying something like that

Teacher: Calm down everyone! Nobody is sending the kid anywhere!

Katie´s mum: Well, since my opinion seems to offend you, I´ve got better things to do (she stands up
and goes away without saying goodbye)

Mr. King: I think first we should find out why the machine left Frankie in 2019 when he was supposed
to go to 2030. I don´t believe Dr. Frankenstein had made that mistake himself

Teacher: No, he didn´t. Since we are all interested in the matter I have something to confess. I also
come from the past. My real name is Albert Einstein and I was supposed to wake up in the year 2025
but I woke up five years ago. I didn’t know where I was or what went wrong. But in order to
investigate what had happened, I knew I needed help and money. So I got a job as a teacher. That
would allow me to investigate and to teach young minds about science and about how to be a good
person

Mrs. King: This is unbelievable! Two frozen people in two days!

Aron´s grandfather (Thomas): In fact, three people Mrs. King. To be honest, I was frozen too. But I
woke up forty years ago. That was when I met my wife and we had our son. And finally, years later,
we had a grandson, Aron. My real name is Thomas Edison. I was supposed to wake up in the year
2000, but I woke up earlier than that.

Mr. King: This is surreal (and he faints again)

Mrs. King: He´s fine! It happens all the time (she looks at the audience and winks an eye)

Helena´s aunt: There must be something wrong with the machine then. Is it broken?

Teacher: Not completely broken, otherwise we would all have arrived here at the same time. But
there´s definitely something wrong. Why are people waking up before the time set?

(Mr. King wakes up and looks around the room)

Mr. King: What is the last thing you two remember? (He looks at Walt and Thomas)

Thomas: I remember getting inside the machine, nothing else. What about you teacher?

Teacher (Einstein): Please call me Albert! I remember getting inside the machine. But curiously, this
morning while Helena was defending Frankie from being called a monster, I remembered something
else. I remember a flash image when I was inside the machine, I looked outside and there was a lot
of garbage in a certain area of the city. And then I woke up. Do you think it has a connection?

Mrs. King: We don´t know, but we have to keep investigating. Maybe Frankie remembers something
else.
Thomas: I have an idea (he takes a SIGN with a light bulb from behind him), why don´t we go to the
exact spot where Frankie woke up yesterday to find more answers?

Helena’s aunt: Great idea!

Teacher (Albert): Ok everyone, let´s have some rest tonight and we´ll meet tomorrow at the park!

SCENE 6_The Park-Looking for answers

MUSIC: Life is a flower! Volume turns down as you can see people in the park. An old man wearing a
Mickey Mouse T-shirt is sitting on the grass looking around, disoriented. Katie, Julian and Aron come
into scene

Old man (Walt): (As the kids approach) Excuse me, can you tell me where I am?

July: What are you mental, you old man? (the three of them laugh)

Katie: He must be, look at his t-shirt, you think you´re a kid? I used to wear those when I was like 5
(they laugh again)

Old man (Walt): Oh my head is completely fine, thanks for asking kids. It´s a shame that you think
you can´t wear the clothes that you like just because you grow up. If you continue thinking like that,
you will not only grow up, but grow up bitter (he winks at the audience)

The bullies look down, they feel ashamed

Aron: Sorry Sr., we are in the Park, in Pinar

Old man (Walt): Ok, but which year are we in? Is it 2050 already?

(The kids start to laugh hard)

Katie: You´re crazier than I thought, of course we´re not in 2050, it 2019

July: Enough Katie! (He raises his voice) The man is clearly confused. We shouldn´t make fun of him,
we should help him. Let´s take him to a mental house

Old man (Walt): No no!!! I´m not crazy!

(He screams as the kids are trying to force him and take him away. In that moment Einstein, Thomas,
Frankie, Helena, Tommy and Grace come into scene)
Thomas: Hey! (She screams) What are you doing to that man? (They come closer)

Katie: We´re taking this man to a mental institution, he thinks he is in 2050

(Einstein, Helena, Tommy, Grace and Thomas look at each other)

Einstein: Don´t worry kids, we´ll take it from here

Aron: But teacher, he could hurt himself, we think he is lost

Old man (Walt): Thank you for your good intentions kids, but I´m not lost, just a little puzzled,
because I was not supposed to be here, not in this year at least

Tommy: I think we can help you Sr. What´s your name?

Old man (Walt): My name is Walt Disney

Everyone: Wooooooowwww (DISNEY SONG with cartoon sounds and Mini Dance)

Aron: But how´s that possible? You died!

Walt: I didn´t die! I was frozen! I was supposed to wake up in the year 2050 but somehow I ended up
here, with you guys

Katie: I can´t believe it, you´re my idol!!! I´m so sorry about before, I love you so much (she hugs him
and doesn´t let go)

Walt: (He looks nervously at the others) Ok, ok (as he tries to free himself from Katie). I´ll sign an
autograph for you if you let me go

Katie: Sorry Sr. I´m just so excited to see you. I´ve been a fan since I can remember

Walt: Then why were you making fun of my T-shirt?

Katie: Because in my house they make fun of me all the time. And they say that I cannot wear
cartoon clothes because I look like a little kid, so I threw all my prettiest clothes away (she starts
crying)

(Suddenly Katie´s mun appears into scene)

Katie´s mum: Oh Katie, I didn´t know that. You can wear whatever clothes you like. What you wear is
not important; what´s important is the way you behave. I´m sorry for making you feel that way

Katie: Mum, when did you come here?

Katiés mum: Just now. I was looking for you and your teacher. I wanted to apologize for the way I
behaved in the parents´meeting

Teacher: It´s fine, don´t worry about it. I´m glad you´re here now.

Katie´s mum: I am. From now on I will be nicer to people, specially to Katie. I´m really sorry Katie. I
love you so much.
Katie: I love you too mum

(Katie and her mum hug each other)

Katie: Thank you everyone! I will stop criticizing everyone and I will be nicer

(Frankie lifts the sign of the light bulb)

Frankie: Funny thing, as you were saying this Katie, I remembered something and I think it might
help us

Everyone: What is it?!

Frankie: Before waking up, I was dreaming about some turtles. They were trying to swim in the
ocean but they were struggling because of some plastic bags in their legs

Grace: Oh that´s terrible! And are you sure that was a dream or do you think it could be real?

Frankie: I don´t know. But I remember a lighthouse was near the place

Aron: Helena! Your aunt works at the marine, doesn´t she? Why don´t we call her and ask if she can
check everything´s ok near the lighthouse?

Helena: Yes! Great idea! (She takes out her phone and goes to a corner to call her aunt)

Thomas: I believe that what we need to do now is to find the Time Machine. It can´t be far away. I
mean, Frankie got here 2 days ago

Walt: Yes, and I got HERE (he points to the ground with his finger) an hour ago

Frankie: So the machine has to be here somewhere, let´s look for it!

Einstein: I think we should look inside the school too, just in case

July: I can go to school and check

Aron: I´ll go with you

Katie: Me too. Let´s work together and find answers!

Katie´s mum: Ok guys, I´ll take you to school

Einstein: Thank you Katie, Julian and Aron. This is such a positive attitude! I´m proud of you

July, Katie and Aron: Thank you teacher (The bullies go away with Katie´s mum)

(Helena comes back to the group)

Grace: Ok. My aunt is going to call a team to check on the turtles, I hope it´s not too late
Tommy: Don´t you think is funny that every time someone does a good action, Frankie, Thomas and
Albert remember something about the machine? When Katie said sorry, Frankie remembered about
the turtles.

Thomas: And yesterday, when Helena was defending Frankie, you Albert remembered something
about a polluted area

Einstein: You´re right Tommy! You´re brilliant! If we are nice to each other, our memory will flow
naturally and we will remember more things!

Walt: I think that´s the way the world works. When we help each other, everything goes fine and we
can live in peace

Frankie: I know!! (He screams excitedly) I know where the machine is! Look, it´s right there! (He
points at a tree that was there all the time)

(The tree MACHINE is one student dressed as a tree, it has no branches and no green leaves)

(They get closer to the tree)

Tommy: Is this the machine?! It looks like a dead tree

Walt: Yes, This is the machine, now I remember. It looks dead because it´s broken

Machine: Help me please! I’m dying. I can´t move and I can´t breathe

Tommy: Oh no! What can we do?

Machine: I can´t tell you what to you, you have to figure it out on your own. You´re doing fine, but
you have to hurry. I and the Earth do not have a lot of time

RIIIIIINNNNNGGGGGGG (A phone rings)

(Helena answers the phone call)

Helena: It´s my aunt, aha, yeah, (she listens), great, thank you aunty! (She hungs up). Great news
guys! The turtles are fine! Helena´s aunt went with a rescue team to the spot Frankie told us about
and they helped the turtles. They collected all the plastic bags and now the turtles are fine!!

(Music: - That dance and they scream we did it!)

(As they finish dancing, they observe that the tree Machine raises a branch full of green leaves)

Grace: Look! (He points at the Machine) The machine is getting better

Frankie: Guys!!! (He sounds thrilled) I remember something very important now!

Everyone: What?!

Frankie: My father´s last words. I had completely forgotten, but I remember now. He told me, that
the most important reason I was travelling to the future, was to create conscience in humans. Not
only about being nice to each other, but also about being nice to the environment. That´s why we
dream about garbage and animals being trapped inside plastic bags. And he also told me that I was
green so every time a person looks at me, they were reminded about ecology and how important is
to keep plants and trees living!

(In that moment, the Machine lifts another branch full of green leaves)

Tommy: Look at the tree Machine! It´s finally getting better.

Grace: The more we take care of the environment, the better it gets.

Thomas: That´s why it got broken in the first place, so we could all be together here and now to find
a solution to the pollution problem and clean the planet Earth. We were supposed to wake up years
from now, but the global warming is getting worse faster, so the machine broke faster too

Time Machine: You are right. I´m so glad you could find the answers on time. Thanks to people like
you, it´s not too late for the planet Earth. If we are all in this together, we can start changing the
world. The change doesn´t start outside, it starts right here with us. If each one of us starts doing an
action that contributes to the environment, no matter how small it is, it will make a huge difference
around us. Start with small actions and spread the word. That is the only way of saving our planet
and by that, saving ourselves.

Grace: Why don´t we start a campaign to create self awareness about the global warming?

Tommy: Great idea!

(They go away)

SCENE 7_The END

All students come into scene carrying a sign! Each sign contains an action that can be done to take
care of the environment
