Deutsche Welthungerhilfe (formerly known as German Agro Action/GAA) was founded in


1962. Today it is one of the biggest private development organizations in Germany. Non-
profit, politically independent, and non-denominational, the organization works under the
leadership of an honorary board and the patronage of the German President.
Welthungerhilfe Myanmar is running projects in the fields of humanitarian assistance, food
and nutrition security, agricultural value chains and community development in
Ayeyarwady, Mandalay Region, Kachin, Chin, and Shan States. The WHH program in
Myanmar is funded by various institutional donors (BMZ, Federal Foreign Office of Germany,
LIFT, and others) as well as private donors.
We are currently looking for a “CBO-Team Leader” for the BMZ- financed FRESH project in
Lashio. The position will be based in LASHIO with frequent travels to the project location.
The CBO Team leader will coordinate the empowerment of VDC member households in the
project area, covering up to forty-five villages in four townships.

4. Scope of the position 100% (full-time)
5. Duration: 15th of December 2022 – December 2023 (with good chances of
extension)
6. Closing date: November, 25th 2022

II. Your responsibilities


− Prepares annual activity- and financial plans for the designated area of
responsibility
− Develops concepts for improving CBO structures and their working practices,
based on existing experience/conditions
− Supports Village based CBO in identifying and formulation of applications in
potential areas of cooperation
− Assist rural communities in the development of transparent working
management structures
− Support the CBO in its annual self-evaluation process, develop adapted tools to
measure progress.
− Develops, based on existing concepts, training modules on the practical handling
of loan applications, their monitoring and reporting
− Lead participatory community exercises and workshops, such as surveys, PRA,
impact monitoring.
− Ensures that monthly field visits are conducted by field staff to check and assist in
the management of the village's own revolving funds.
II. Your profile
− BA/BSc in social sciences or development studies or any relevant degree
− Strong knowledge in accounting and experience in community fund management
− Minimum of 5 years professional experience including management and field
experience in community work, preferably in international development
cooperation
− Competence in spoken and written English, Burmese, Shan languages
− Solid computer skills and MS Office applications
− Experience in leading teams

− Show initiative and actively assume responsibilities, independent work planning


and organization/ participation in a multi-disciplinary team and provide
community feedback
− Regular trips to villages within the project area, including overnight stay
− Experiences in conflict mitigation and Do No Harm techniques
− High level on mental and physical resilience and readiness
− Motorbike driving license including driving experience
