Introduction

In an Address to General Clair’s Brigade, Reverend David Jones was a member of the

group that was charged with a responsibility to defend the key Northern Lake Georgia region.

Most critically, they were supposed to provide defense to the impregnable Fort Ticonderoga. In

his address, Jones highlighted on various aspects that were key in relation to the mandate

stipulated to them (Wilkinson). Although many historians claims that the address was provided

by James Thacker, Jones went on to deliver the address. However, there is no evidence to

In the address to the General Clair’s Brigade, Reverend David Jones indicates that it was

their common faith that everything on the world was made under the notice of God under whom

had faith in the benevolent God who is all loving and infinitely good. This address indicates that

in while in Ticonderoga. These is because, having faith develops the belief that they can defeat

their enemies.

Question 2: What were the goals of the Continental Army soldiers and what does he say about

what the British want?

While in addressing the troop, Jones made sure that he provided social and political

argument as way of making the soldiers understand, why they were there and what they had to

do. In particular, Jones explained the goals of the Continental Army soldiers. In this regard, he

indicates that the main goal of the army is to fight for all that is near and dear to all of them.

Jones indicates that while their enemies are engaged in strategies of subjugating, plundering, as

well as enslaving people who have done nothing wrong. Thus, the main goal of Continental army

soldier was to defend innocent people who have done nothing wrong. In his address, Jones

indicates that the British wanted to attack their small garrison.

Question 3: How might you have felt, being a soldier in this isolated fort with winter coming on.

Would Jones’ words have given you or your comrades any comfort?

Being is a soldier is one of the most underrated thing by majority of people who do not

have an idea of the problems they undergo while undertaking on various missions to protect

civilians. In this perspective, it would be in accordance to my gratification being a soldier in the

isolated fort with winter coming. This is because, it would be of great importance to protect and

fight for what is dear to me-my country. The address by Jones would be of great importance in

relation providing relaxation in the midst of stressful ordeals encountered while defending the

Key Northern Lake Georgia region. This is because; the address contains encouraging worlds

that escalate motivation of soldiers.
