In this presentation, I am going to talk about the influence of K-pop on

teenagers.

Firstly, K-pop refers to pop music of Korea and, contrary to what many people
think, it´s not a genre of music. I personally enjoy K-pop because it is composed
of different music genres, creating a groundbreaking music with a powerful
message.

Secondly, I want to clarify my position. As a teenager, I strongly believe that K-

pop has a good influence on my peers and me.

I will begin by talking how, through their music, support and message of self-
love are given to us. In the same way, they inspire us to break standards and
express ourselves. For example, an instructor told a K-pop star Hwasa, that she
was fat and ugly. Those words made her cry, but she promised herself that she
would set a different standard. If she had given up, she wouldn´t be neither a
household artist nor an important role model for people with complexes.

- K-pop stars support social causes and raise awareness in teenager – BTS an
UNICEFF
- It expands cultural knowledge and vocabulary - K-pop fandom is
increasing cultural contact. It is a good thing to learn about new cultures, it
broadens their minds…

On the other hand, the number of fans increases every day and many teenagers
become obsessed. This can lead to many K-pop stars, as well as their fans, being
harassed. That is to say, many teenagers spend so much time stalking their idols
on Internet, which influences their academic performance. Furthermore, some
people become so obsessed in a negative way that they become a treat to the
safety of the K-pop stars and other fans.

In conclusion, besides the existence of these toxic fans, K-pop has a good
influence on teenagers and their development. Anyway, I´m absolutely
convinced that soon it will have been listened in every corner of the world.
