Unless specified otherwise in the datasheets or specications, the information given in this document shall apply for the design Order of Precedence In general, the order of precedence shall be as follows. The latest edition at contract award of the applicable piping codes and standards are to be considered as par ofthis specification. Institute BSI Biitish Standards Institute so International Organization for Standardization MSS SP Manufacturer's Standardization Society EN European Standards TCVN Vietnamese Standards 4.0 CLASSIFICATION The topside process feciities will be certified according to applicable Rules and Regulations, 5.0 DESIGN PRINCIPLES 5.1 Design Values Piping systems and all components included in these systems shall conform to API RP 14E, API 6D, ASME B31.3, ANSI 831.4, ANSI B31.8 and ASME B16.5. 5.2 General Requirements 521 All piping component wal thicknesses spectied in the Indviual Piping Standard Data Sheets are calculated in accorcance with ASME 831.3) ANSI 821.4/ ANSI 831.8) 25 noted and are bases on |/2\, continuous long-term intemal design pressure, design temperaiure, speciied corrosiorverasion allowance, the manufacturing minus/under tolerance and the threading allowance as applicable, All piping subject to any additional loading such as short term upset conditions, occasional loads, external pressure, thermal loading, ie loads, ett shall be indWdualy assessed to ensure full compliance with ASME B31.3. 5.22 Pipe dimensions shall be in accordance with ASME B36.10 for carbon steel and for stainless stee! with wall thicknesses in excess of Sch 80S, For stainless steel with wall thicknesses up to and including Sch 80S, dimensions shall be in accordance with ASME 836.18, 523 All Carbon steel, Stainless Stee! & Duplex Stainless steel! Pipes & component should comply with NACE standard MRO175. Compliance shail be limited to only the harcness and testing requifements of the Code 524 All materials shall be new, unused and free from imperfections, excessive mill scales, slag intrusion, laminations, pitting and excessive rust, that may impair their strength, durability or appearance. 525 Pipe, valves and fitings in sizes 1 1, 2 1/2", 31/2" and 5° shall ot be used. Where equipment is normally provided by a Vendor with connections in any of the above sizes, connections will be made with suitable swages or reducers to pipe of approved size. 5.2.6 Materials shall conform to impact test requirements specified in ASME B31.3, for the combination of minimum design metal temperature (DMT) and reference thicknesses specie. Document No. : GEN-L-XXX-SP-0001 Revision 5 Page 5 of 19 ‘SPECIFICATION FOR PIPING AND VALVE MATERIALS: 52.7 Galvanized piping requiring welding shall be galvanized after fabrication. Galvanized piping shall comply with the requirements of ASTM A123, 52.8 Deviations from the Piping Standard Sheet may occur due to non-availabilty or design conditions. ‘These deviations are permissible if they are of an equal or higher standard than the individual Piping Standard requirements, and written approval is given by Purchaser. 529 All piping materials except for bolts / nuts and gaskets shall be supplied with material certificates conforming to European Standard EN 10204, Type 3.1, or Purchaser approved Inspection Certificate. Botts / nuts and gaskets shall be supplied with material certificates conforming to European Standard EN 10204, Type 2.2 and 2.1 respectively, or Purchaser approved Inspection Certificate, 52.10 Threading ‘Wherever NPT threaded connections are specified for instrument connections, the threads shall meet the requirements of ASME B1.20.1 with the exception of the foliowing. The objective of these ‘exceptions is to ensure the minimum engagement of 4 to 6 threads by hand pressure and an addtional 0.5 to 1.5 turns by means of a wrench. ‘The L1 thread-gauging requirement as stated in sections 8.1 and 8.2 of ASME B1.20.1 shall be read as follows. © Gauging External Taper Threads with Ring Gauge (Male Threads) During hand tightening, the male fitting shall engage in to the ring gauge by +1/4 to +1 turn more than the start of the first scratch mark on the chamfer zone. The gauge is to be turned towards the body of the fiting + Gauging Internal Threads with Plug Gauge (Female Threads) During hand tightening, the plug gauge shall engage in to the female fitting by +1/4 to +1 tum below the last thread scratch mark on the chamfer zone. The gauge is to be turned towards the body of the fitting ‘Threading allowance recommended as per ASME B1.20.1, B31.3 sections 304.1.1 and 314 is, 1/2" to 3/4" NPS 0.0571" 1'to1% NPS 0.0696" 5.2.11 Cast iton, ductile or malleable iron, aluminum, plastic or copper-bearing aloys shall not be used in hydrocarbon service 5.2.12 Piping design pressure is based on flange maximum-allowable working pressure, unless otherwise noted in the Piping class Specification sheets. 5.2.13 Asbestos gaskets shall not be used, 5.2.14 Machined or threaded surfaces shall be preserved by coating with Shell ENSIS or equivalent, 5.2.15 Allseam welded pipes & ftings shall be 100% Radiography 53 Pipes 5.3.1 General AA pipes shall be specified with the nominal size and schedule number as per ASME B36.10 unless specified otherwise on the individual Piping Standard Sheet. The pipe wall thickness may be su thicker than specified only after written approval has been given by Purchaser. Corrosion allowance is as per the relevant Piping Standard Sheet. Pipes shall be supplied with bevelled end. Bevelling shall be in accordance with ASME B16.25. Where plain end pipes ate specified, as for small bore pipes for socket welded piping, the pipes shal bbe supplied with plain ends, Pipe shall preferably be supplied in double random lengths. Each length of pipe shall be subject to a hydrostatic test in accordance with the relevant code. Single random lengths will be accepted where specified in the Job Specification or for small diameter pipes or where double random lengths are unavailable. Pipes shall be shipped with end protectors to protect bevellad ends. Carbon Stee! Pipe Carbon stee! pipe shall have @ maximum carbon content of 0.23% by ladle analysis or 0.25% by product analysis. Maximum carbon equivalent (CE) shall be 0.43% by ladle analysis or 0.45% by product analysis according to the formula: CE = C + (Mini6) + (Cr+Mo+VYS + (Ni+ CuNIS Low Temperature Carbon Steel Pipe ‘The pipe material shall have maximum carbon content of 0.23% except where ASTM Specification is more restrictive, the manganese content may be increased to 1.30% max. The carbon equivalent (CE) shall be 0.45% max. Impact testing shall be carried out as per ASTM A370 at -S0°F. Impact values shall meet the requirements specified in ASME B31.3. Austenitic Stainless Stee! Pipe Pipe materials shall be in accordance with ASTM A312 TP 316 (UNS $31600) end TP 316L (UNS 831603). All pipes shall be supplied in the de-scaled, pickled, passivated and solution heat treated condition, Repair by welding is not permitted. Material shall be capable of successfully passing an intergranular corrosion test in accordance with ASTM A262 Practice E. Duplex Stainless Stee! Pipe Pipe materials shall be in accordance with ASTM A790 Duplex SS. Al the Pipes shall be supplied as per APPENDIX II (Material Data Sheets Duplex Materials). Fiberglass Pipe /GRP All technical requirements for the design, manufacture, testing, and installation of fiberglass / GRP pipe and fittings shall be as specified in the APPENDIX | - Piping Material Class Specifications (1H) and Manufacturer's recommendations and requirements specified in the Job Specification, Al fioreglasses piping system (pipes, adhesives, flanges) shall be of low smoke emission and low toxicity types (under elevated temperature), Pipe Fittings Fittings manufactured from pipe shall comply with requirements specified for pipe. Carbon steel forgings shal be supplied with a meximum carbon content of 0.26% and CE of 0.45% by product analysis. For Stainless Steel and Duplex Stainless Stee! fitings, the material requirements specified for Pipes shall be complied with. Dimensions of metalic butt weld fittings shall be in accordance with ASME B16.9, with socket weld and threaded fitings to ASME B16.17. All 90° butt veld elbows shall be long radius (1.5D) unless specified otherwise. All Ollets / Nipoflanges shall meet the requirements of MSS SP 97. Design ofall ets shall conform to ASME B31.3. Vendor shal provide Burst Proof test certificates (ype approval / test and proof test ccenticates) for all let type ftings. Tees shall not be fabricated (stub-i) type The thickness of reducing fitings shall match with the relevant pipe wall thickness. Repair by welding of wrought ftings shell not be allowed Fittings shall be marked and shipped in crates, grouped according to pressure/class rating where possible. A production test shall be performed on the maximum thickness. of welded CS fitings to confirm the SMYS, UTS and Charpy absorbed impact energy in base ‘material, weld and heat affected zone have been maintained after PWHT. The recorded values shall be above the minimum specified values 30 as to allow for further degradation possible after any PWHT of circumferential butt welded joints, Flanges ‘Weld-neck flanges and socket-weld flanges shall be provided with bore to match the attached pipe Ail flanges in butt weld (BW) piping shall be weld-neck (WN) unless specific requirements dictate otherwise. Flange dimensions shall be in accordance with ASME B16.5. Non metallic flanges shall generally meet the bolting cimensions of the above standards and be suitably face finished to mate with ASME B16.5 flanges. However, the flange thickness & hub dimensions of the non-metallic flanges may vary depending on the material used. Repair by welding is not permitted. Flanges shall be packed and shipped in such a way as to prevent damage of machined parts. All ‘machined or threaded parts shall be protected in accordance with ASTM A 700. Suitable protection, shield or cover shall be provided on the gasket contact surface. Galvanized flanges shall be packed in accordance with ASTM A53, Carbon ste! forgings shall be supplied with a maximum carbon content of 0.25% and CE of 0.45% by product analysis. For Stainless Steel and Duplex Stainless Steel flanges, the material requirements specified for Pipes shall be complied with, All flange faces other than for non-metalic and Cu-Ni materials shall meet the following minimum criteria @ Roughness for RF = 125 to 250 ln Ra; Roughness for FF flange= 250 to S00uin Ra; Roughness of Groove for RTJ Flange = 63 uin Ra b. Continuous spiral groove finish with 45 to 65 grooves per inch for RF and RTJ flanges. ©. Non-Metallic, Copper and Cu-Ni shall be stock finish. Bolting shall be as per section 6.9.13, Bolting ‘Stud bolts shall be threaded full length and dimensionally in accordance with ASME B18.2.1 with two nuts to ASME B18.2.2. Reduced shank stud bolts shall not be used. ‘All carbon stee! stud bolts and nuts shall be Fluoro Carbon Coated, Botting shall be UNC threaded for diameters up to and including 1° and UN8 for bolt diameters above 1" In accordance with ASME B1.1 All stud bolts threads shall be Class 2A fit and nuts shall be Class 28 fit. In order to account for the additional thickness provided on the studs due to galvanizing, the dimensional tolerances on mating threads shell be achieved ville by underculting Une rake Uiread or over culling Une feciale thread, Nuts for stud bolts shall be Hexagon Heavy Series to ASME B18.2.2 and oversized to accommodate the stud bolt coating system as appropriate. Hydraulic bolt tightening shall be used cn all stud bolts 1-1/2" and larger diameter and length of these bolts are to be increased by @ minimum of one bolt diameter to allow the use of bolt tensioning equipment, Document No. : GEN-L-XXX-SP-0001 Revision 5 Page 28 0f19 SPECIFICATION FOR PIPING AND VALVE MATERIALS 56.8 The length of stud-bolts shall be in accordance with ASME B16.5. 5.6.9 Procedures for surface pre-treatment, hot-dip galvanizing, thickness measurement, storage and ‘packaging prior to shipment shalll be submitted with the bid for review. 5.6.10 Boing and nuts shail be supplied with nuts threaded on and packed for shipment to prevent damage tothe coatings. 57 Gaskets 5.7.1 Asbestos is not permitted to be used for any gasket. 5.7.2 $$ 304 material is not permitted to be used for any part of gasket, 57.3 Nonmetallic gaskets shall conform to ASME 816.21. Full face gaskets shall be used with flatface flanges. 5.7.4 Spiral wound gaskets shall be used for all metalic RF joints. Outerring 0.125" thick, CS Black Epoxy Coated. 2 Design to ASME 818.20, 5.7.5 Gaskets for Fibreglass Reinforced Piping (FRPYGRP systems shall be as specified in APPENDIX |- Piping Class Specification Sheets. 5.7.8 Ring type joint gaskets shall be octagonal in section and shall conforrn to ASME B16.20 or to API 6A (as applicable). 5.7.7 Octagonal gaskets for 800# & above shall be Type-R and ring material shall be as following a. For CSILTCS Piping, ring material shall be Soft Iron with Max BHN 90. b. For SS Piping, ring material shall be SS316 with Max BHN 136, ©. For Duplex Stainless Stee! Piping, ring material shall be Inconel 625 with Max BHN 150, 6.8 Insulating gasket Sets Insulating gasket sets shall be installed at line specification change where dissimilar metals are in contact 25 identified in the P&ID, shall be as per the detail below. Insuiating gasket set is comprised of one central gasket with coating on both faces, one sleeve as per bot, two washers per bolt and two steel washers per bolt, pecked in an incividual box. Note: Cut insulating sleeve length 1’ shorter than dimension A. 5.9 Valves 5.9.1 All manual valves within the process and utility piping shall be es specified in Appendix Il, 5.9.2 Pressure/temperature ratings and valve design shell meet ASME B16.34 requirements. 59.3 Valve selection shall be in accordance with the relevant Piping Class Specification Sheets and the associated Valve Tag Identification System. phe Document No. : GEN-L-XXX-SP-0001 Revision 5 Page 9 0f 19 SPECIFICATION FOR PIPING AND VALVE MATERIALS: 594 595 596 697 598 5.99 59.10 69.11 6.9.12 5.9.13 Valves sized 2" and over which are desctibed as Outside Screw and Yoke (OS&Y) with rising stem ‘and non-rising hand whee! shall be provided with stem protectors and visual position indicators. Vaives shall be supplied with gear operators as indicated in the APPENDIX ill Valve Material Specification. Valves heavier than 500lb shall be provided with liting points. The design of such Iifing points shall be approved by the Purchaser Valves shall be bi-directional unless valve construction specifically renders this requirement impractical — eg. globe, check and needle valves. For uni-directional valves, an indicator showing flow direction shall be engraved or castforged into the valve body. Valve position indicators shall be designed so as to prevent incorrect orientation on valve assembly. Quarte: turn valve handles shall be lever lock type if specified in the purchase requisition or data sheet, Each lever operated valve shall be provided with Lever. Quarter tum Valves specified with Insulation shall have the stem extended by 150mm to accommodate insulation. Insulated valves, shall be identified with a letter designation ‘Tas incicated in the valve identification table. Gearbox operators shall be sized to provide an output torque of at least 150% of the maximum required valve operating torque, Gearbox ratios shell be 60:1 maximum for valves 8" and smaller and 120:1 maximum for valves 10° and larger. Maximum operating force required to operate the valve shall be within 70Ibf. Where indicated in the Valve Material Specification, gear operators are to be supplied and shall be the manufacturer's standard heavy duty models selected to provide the valve torque requirements. Gearboxes shall be fitted with postion indicators, have sel-locking mechanisms, and be full sealed and protected to suit a very corrosive marine environment. Gear Units shall be fully protected from a coastal marine amosphere whilst permitting lubrication and maintenance. Where valves have an operating pressure exceeding 1500psi, explosive decompression (ED) failure of elastomeric materials shall be considered, Valve bolting shall comply with the following: a. Intemal bolting requirements are subject to intended fluid service requirements. 5.9.15 Where specified, welding end valves shall be supplied with pup pieces having a minimum length of 16" 5.9.18 Valves flange pressure class rating shall be in accordance with ASME B16.5, 5.9.17 Valves shall be tested as per AP! 598 or API 6D, test pressures shall be as per ASME B16.34. Hydrostatic seat test for bi-directional valves shall be carried out in both directions. 5.9.18 Hydrostatic test fluid shall have a chlorine content of less than 200ppm for carbon steel valves and less than 30ppm for stainless stee! valves. 5.9.19 NDT of valves shall be carried out as specified below.
