restrictions. A particular setting or requirement gives rise to a rhetorical predicament. An

encourage people to purchase items, advertisers come up with catchy slogans. In order to
persuade a jury, attorneys use emotive arguments. All of these are instances of rhetoric, which
is language used to inspire, convince, or instruct.
