(The investiture ceremony officially accepts and make a girl into a Junior/Senior Girl
Scout)
A. EQUIPMENTS
A table, ten small candles, three bigger candles, one very big candle, a candle
stand, chair for the guests, matches.
Optional: The Philippine Flag, a flagpole or stand, the troop flag, the world flag.
B. PLACE:
School lawn, inside the church or chapel, inside the school room or ground
C. PROCEDURE
1. Assembly
The girls assemble outside the place where the ceremonies will be held in the out
doors.
The Investing Officers, the Troop Committee, and parents will take
their seats behind the table facing the horseshoe to be enacted by the
girls.
Other guests will then be seated on each side of the horseshoe
formation.
The Presiding Leader (Troop Leader) stands at the left side of the
table placed in the center, facing the horseshoe formation. The Co-
leader stands at her left.
2. Entrance – at the signal from the Presiding Leader, the entire troop with the
girls to be invested enters, marching into horseshoe formation.
THE CEREMONIES PROPER
(The Presiding Leader then lights the biggest candle, and says)
“This candle which I now light represent the Spirit of Scouting which we hope will
guide you through your life.”
“The three candles which I am now about to light represent the three parts of the Girl
Scout Promise.”
(The Presiding Leader next light the middle candle and says..)
“This candle shall shine as a symbol that the Girl Scouts are true to God and their
country.”
(The Presiding Leader then lights the second candle, and says:)
“May the light of the second candle shine as a symbol that Scout’s greatest desire to
be of service.”
(The Presiding Leader then lights of the third candle and says:)
“Lastly, may the light of the third candle shine as a symbol that Girl Scouts are true to
their ideals as presented by the Girl Scout Law.”
(The Co-leader leads the troop in singing the Girl Scout Chant. )
(The assigned girls light the remaining ten candles in the order shown below:)
(The girl assigned to the first GS Law walks to the table, gets a taper and lights the
candle no. 1. after lighting it from the bigger candle. With this, she lights the candle
no. 1. After lighting the candle, she faces the horseshoe formation, executes the GS
sign and then recites the GS law assigned to her, after she returns to her place in the
horse formation. The rest of the girls assigned to recite the other GS Laws follow the
same procedure, and light their respective candles as shown in the above diagram.)
Candle No. 1 – “This candle that I shall now light, represents the 1 st point of the
Girl Scout Law which says … A girl scout’s honor is to be trusted.”
Candle No. 2 – “This candle that I shall now light, represents the 2 nd point of the
Girl Scout Law which says … A girl scout is loyal.”
Candle No. 3 – “This candle that I shall now light, represents the 3 rd point of the
Girl Scout Law which says … A girl scout is helpful.”
Candle No. 4 – “This candle that I shall now light, represents the 4 th point of
the Girl Scout Law which says … A girl scout is a friend to all and a
sister to every other girl scout.”
Candle No. 5 – “This candle that I shall now light, represents the 5 th point of the
Girl Scout Law which says … A girl scout is courteous.”
Candle No. 6 – “This candle that I shall now light, represents the 6 th point of the
Girl Scout Law which says … A girl scout is respects living things.”
Candle No. 7 – “This candle that I shall now light, represents the 7 th point of the
Girl Scout Law which says … A girl scout is disciplined.”
Candle No. 8 – “This candle that I shall now light, represents the 8 th point of the
Girl Scout Law which says … A girl scout is self-reliant.”
Candle No. 9 – “This candle that I shall now light, represents the 9 th point of the
Girl Scout Law which says … A girl scout is thrifty.”
Candle No. 10 – “This candle that I shall now light, represents the 10 th point of
the Girl Scout Law which says … A girl scout is clean in thought,
word and deed.”
(The Presiding Leader calls on the investing Officer to take her position at the right
side of the table.)
“May I request our Investing Officer, Mrs. Angelica L. Gepes to take your position at
the right side of the table.”
(The Patrol Leader, as called takes one step forward, makes the GS sign after which
she says:
“I hereby present , ,
, , whom
to my knowledge has/have successfully passed the requirements for Girl Scout
Membership and is/are ready to become full pledge Girl Scouts.”
Investing Officer: “As we prepare ourselves to receive you, so you must prepare
yourself to be one of us. Remember that to make the Girl Scout Promise, links you
with many others and you walk not alone. As you conduct yourself, so be other Girl
Scouts be judged by you. Your honor means that you can be trusted in all things.
Knowing this, do you promise in your honor to do your duty to God and your country,
to help other people at all times and live by the Girl Scout Law?
Girls: On my honor I will do my duty to God and my country, to help other people at
all times and to live by the Girl Scout Law.
(The Investing Officer approaches each girl and pins the World pin/Junior pin on the
left collar, as the girls sing)
Investing Officer: (As each girl receives the pin) With this pin I welcome you to
Troop ____________ of Cansalongon Elementary School and to the Girl Scouts of the
Philippines. May you always be proud of being a member of this troop and may this
troop be always proud of your as a member.”
Investing Officer: You now have taken your first step along the Girl Scout Trail, a trail
that never really ends. There are many adventure awaiting you as you continue your
badge work. If your trefoil and your honor are kept shining as brightly as the flame of
these candles, they will guide to the right path and will enlighten you in all you do.

PART I – INTRODUCTION
(North Star and Morning Star stand at the center of the garden or hall with a Magic
Carpet in front of them.)
The Star Clusters by turns enter hopping and skipping while singing their rhyme
song until they reach their troop leaders. They quietly form a semi circle around
the Magic Carpet and stand at attention.
Morning Star comes forward, executes the Girl Scout sign to North Star who
returns it and announces aloud)
Morning Star: “North Star, We found little Twinklers in the Starry Circle who want
to join our Stars.”
(Morning Star then fetches the Twinklers who are hiding nearly behind a bush or
plant or improvised cloud.
North Star: “Stars are little girls who brighten their homes with smile and deeds.
Each star has to make happy everyday, her mother, father, brother
or sister. She has to keep herself, brightly shining by being clean,
truthful, obedient and respectful. Do you want to become such a
Star in your home?
North Star: “Very well Twinklers, you have come to the right place. But before you
join the Cluster, you have to make a promise. Will you say your
Promise now?”
Twinklers with their right hand executes the Star Scout Sign, makes their Promise
before the North Star, clearly and loudly but slowly.
North Star returns the sign with Girl Scout sign and pins the Star Scout pin on the
left collar of the Star Uniform.
She then welcomes the girls to the troop with the Girl Scout handshake and sign
saying….
North Star: “Now you are truly a member of the Star Scout troop. But before
your Star Cluster can accept you, your mother will put on your Star
Scout cap.”
(Mothers or guardians should be given special seats in front to facilitate this part of
the program.)
The Stars form a big circle around the Magic Carpet, holding hands and then
dancing to a song of their choice.

At the signal from the Presiding Leader, the entire troop with the girls to be invested

(The Presiding Leader opens the ceremony by giving a brief talk on the Promise and
Law that the new member are going to make. As she talks the Co-leader lights each
candle representing the three parts of the promise and each component of the Law.)
“The three candles which are now about to light represent the three parts of the Girl
Scout Promise.”
“This candle shall shine as a symbol that the Girl Scouts are true to God and their
country.”
(The Co-Leader then lights the second candle, and says:)
“May the light of the second candle shine as a symbol that Scout’s greatest desire to

“Lastly, may the light of the third candle shine as a symbol that Girl Scouts are true to
their ideals as presented by the Girl Scout Law.”

“May I request our Investing Officer, Mrs. Angelica L. Gepes to take your position at
the right side of the table.”
“Patrol Leader ____________________ (name of the Patrol Leader), you may now
present your candidates for membership.”
(The Patrol Leader, as called takes one step forward, makes the GS sign after which
she says:
(As each candidate is called, she takes one step forward, and so on, until all Patrol
Leaders have presented their respective candidates.
(The Investing Officer with the Presiding Leader or Senior Scout who brings the tray of
Senior pins goes to each candidate and asks…)
Investing Officer: “Do you know what your honor means? Do you promise in your
honor to do your duty to God and your country, to help other people at all times and
obey the Girl Scout Law?
Girls: On my honor I will do my duty to God and my country, to help other people at
all times and to live by the Girl Scout Law.
(As the candidate recites the Promise, she executes the Girl Scout sign so are the
Investing Officer and Patrol Leader in acknowledgment.)
Investing Officer: “As one to become a Senior Scout, you have pledged to accept a
special responsibility.”
(Investing Officer pins the Senior pin to the left collar of the uniform or on the pin
holder. Makes the GS sign and left handshake with the new girl scout and say… )
Investing Officer: “You may now pledge your affirmation to the Senior Scout
Responsibility”
