Reflection

The School Improvement plan is to Expand educational choices for students, promote

diversity within our schools, set high expectations for all students to improve student

achievement, prepare students for further education and the world of work, offer mentorship and

provide real life and hands on experiences.

The budget spreadsheet that I created below shows the various important departments

that get funding for the school. Data for the budget was derived from prior budgets that showed

how monies were distributed, information from a previous needs assessment conducted by a

small group of educators, and my own observations. Based on student enrolment and

accountability, the justification for increases (green) and decreases (red) on lined items is given.

With the rising cost of living and experience in Broward county, most expenditures are

expected to increase. We currently do not have a Math Coach but with a new principal and the

need we are expecting a Math Coach ($58,000) for next year. We see a reduction in the

performances in Math and ELA, with tutoring this year. This is mainly due to the recent

pandemic and the new curriculum and Florida States Standards. The allocation for tutoring is

expected to reduce by $7000 for next year if since students will take advance this year and will

be more familiar with the new curriculum and block scheduling. Materials and supplies will also

reduce by $2500.

A tutoring program's funding enables additional support for students who need it. The

survey also revealed that teachers believe they are overworked and frequently interrupted. As a

result, I increased the amount allocated to the miscellaneous item. Miscellaneous monies cover

all other parent involvement and student behavior programs and incentives, as well as money for

initiatives like PBIS and the governance committee. Investing in these programs might aid in

reducing the problematic behaviors that frequently disrupt in-class instruction.

As a title one school with students who are new to the country, we are experiencing low

attendance rates.
