Dear professor and students hello, my name is Karlo narančić and todays topic of the

presentation will be e-commerce. I will do my best to explain what e-commerce is after that
give you some examples of the most popular e-commerce web-pages.We will also talk about
two most common types of e-commerce exchanges and to wrap everything up say some
positive and negative sides of e-commerce. So without further ado lets begin.
E-commerce (electronic commerce) is the process of buying and selling goods and services,
or the transmitting of funds and data over the internet. These business transactions occur
either as business-to-business, shorter term(B2B), business-to-consumer, also known
as(B2C). Also there are two more types: consumer-to-consumer or consumer-to-business.
Some of the most popular e-commerce platforms across the globe are amazon, ebay and
aliexpress.

E-commerce is powered by the internet, where customers can access an online store to
browse through, and place orders for products or services via their own devices.

For example lets take Amazon.com. On the webpage we can either select categories of
products we are interested, sort them depending on the price or relevancy and when we find
the product that suits us the most add him to the basket and order it by putting in our data:
name, address and either credit card information or paypal account. In croatia average
shipping time is two to three weeks and costs are still higher than in America or the UK.

Business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce refers to the electronic

exchange of products, services or information between businesses rather than
between businesses and consumers. B2B transactions tend to happen in
the supply chain, where one company will purchase raw materials from
another to be used in the manufacturing process. For example, B2B
transactions are common for car industries where a car company buys
various raw materials from different businesses to make their own.

Second type of e-commerce exchange is Business-to-consumer, it refers

to the process of businesses selling products and services directly to
consumers, without a middle person. B2C typically refers to online retailers
who sell products and services to consumers through the internet. Online
B2C became a threat to traditional retailers, who profited from adding a
markup to the price.
Advantages of e-commerce are their availability, so we can hop on the
webpage at any time of the day and make a purchase we want, it is also
very accesible and easy to search for products due to many categories,
costs are usually lower because private sellers usually buy large amounts
of the same product so markup price we pay is lower than in common
retail stores, and also web pages are personalized for each and every
user. After visiting a few times webpage already remembers what types of
products we are looking for and personalizes itself by our preferences.

On the other side some of the disadvantages are limited customer service,
they cannot always solve all the problems we have in the purchasing
process and it usually takes some time to get a response from them.
Second disadvantage is security, it is still easy to get scammed on these
webpages, I recommend that you dont buy refurbished products and if the
price doesnt seem realistic that you skip that product. The last
disadvantage is shipping and waiting time although it depends on
everyones location, how far away is it from the seller or companys
warehouse. This is mostly referable to smaller countries such as Croatia,
and most european countries because still most of sellers and businesses
are placed over the atlantic ocean in the USA.

Thank you for your attention, i hope that i explained in more detail what e-
commerce is along with things surrounding it. Having said that i would like
to greet everyone listening, until next time!
