EXT: VIEW OF BUSY STREET

Cinematic Title scene.

EXT: BUSY STREET – DAY

A HOMELESS MAN is sitting on the side of a street wearing

scrappy clothes and is trying to keep warm. He is holding a
plastic cup and raises it every time somebody walks by
indicating for them to give him money.

OTTO
Any spare change?

PEDESTRIAN
Nah, sorry mate.

OTTO
No problem, have a good day.

PEDESTRIAN (clothed in casual clothes) continues to walk away

without looking back.

INT: CORNER SHOP – DAY

THE HOMELESS MAN (OTTO) stumbles into the local corner shop to
buy some food and greet the owner, RISHI (who is wearing
casual clothing) and potentially get some work. OTTO looks
around for some affordable food, grabs some bread and walks to
the till.

OTTO
Hey, how’s business?

RISHI
I’m getting by well enough.

OTTO
You wouldn’t happen to need an extra worker to help out around
the shop, would you?

RISHI
Hmm, I do have a few small jobs that you could do but I won’t
be able to pay you very much. How about I pay you with food?

OTTO
Okay, that’s fine! What’s first?

Camera cuts to a montage of shots such as OTTO sweeping up

dust, cleaning the windows and restocking the shelves.

OTTO ends his tasks and receives some bread from RISHI.
 OTTO
Thanks, same time tomorrow yeah?

RISHI
Not sure if I’ll have as many jobs but sure.

OTTO
Don’t worry, I’ll be here.

EXT: DARK ALLEYWAY – NIGHT

OTTO finds an empty, dark and dingy alleyway and decides to

set up his sleeping bag to spend the night there. CAMERA PANS
AWAY from OTTO with background sounds playing such as police
car sirens, dogs barking, smashing bottles etc.

EXT: ALLEYWAY – DAY

OTTO wakes up to the sound of hustle and bustle but realises

he has woken up too late

OTTO
Damn it!

OTTO quickly grabs his things and runs to the shop, hoping to
make it on time. He accidentally runs into a passing PERSON.

PERSON
Hey, watch it!

The PERSON shoves OTTO and he falls on his face in front of

everybody.

INT: CORNER SHOP – DAY

OTTO is out of breath and finally walks into the shop.

OTTO
I’m so sorry I was late, I overslept because I don’t have an
alarm.

RISHI disappointingly looks at OTTO.

RISHI
I’ll let you off this one time but it cannot happen again. I
won’t be paying you with any food today to prove I’m serious
about this.

OTTO
It won’t happen again I promise.
OTTO starts stacking up the shelves and RISHI goes into a
backroom. OTTO is desperate for some food so he uses this
opportunity to take some bread. He then gets on with his other
jobs acting like nothing happened. OTTO eventually finishes
his jobs.

OTTO
See you tomorrow.

RISHI looks at him with a stern look.

RISHI
Come on, pass it over.

OTTO slowly pulls a piece of bread out of his jacket pocket.

OTTO
I’m so sorry, I was desperate-

RISHI
Get out! Never come back.

OTTO sadly walks out of the shop.

EXT: DARK ALLEYWAY – NIGHT

OTTO is about to have his last amount of bread but suddenly

somebody dressed in black passes OTTO, sees his bread and
starts beating him up for it.

CAMERA DOES A BEHIND THE SHOULDER SHOT of OTTO getting beaten

up by the attacker. OTTO is left bleeding and passed out while
the ATTACKER takes the bread from him.

Final cinematic shot to show the ending credits.
