Urgency of
Economic Growth
in Makassar ?

Makassar City's economic growth in the last five

years finally contracted in 2020 in the range of
minus 1.27. This condition is still related to the
Covid-19 Pandemic which is still high until the end
of 2020. As a result (i) there is a slowdown in the
economy on a national and global scale which has an
impact on the economy of Makassar City. (ii) Some
sectors listed positive growth such as transportation
and warehousing but the growth is still slow. (iii) the
sectors as the main contributors to the GRDP of
Makassar City are not yet fully engaged, such as
wholesale and retail trade, construction, and the
manufacturing industry. (iv) support from the
government's fiscal policy stimulates economic
activity is still slow.
 How Can The
Problem of
Economic Growth
in Makassar
be Solved?

Persuading youth in Makassar so that they

can raise self-awareness and move actively
for public policy. The role and policies of
the government in fighting this epidemic
are of course very important for the
survival of all levels of society, especially
for people affected by the pandemic from
an economic perspective. How the society
is able to play a role in maintaining the
instability that shakes the economy at a
time when this epidemic strikes with
effective policies that are expected to
revive the economy.

Economic Development
For Sustainable City of
Makassar

"Makassar Dua Kali Tambah Baik" is a determination of

measurable progressive change as well as an achievement
target in 5 years in all fields throughout Makassar City
which can be felt directly by the whole community. To
realize the target of "Dua Kali Tambah Baik", it takes a
world city standard public service that is activated by the
community and youth who work in an integrated
technology, namely Smart City while at the same time
responding to adaptation to the Industrial revolution 5.0 as
a system for accelerating public services that must be
easily accessible by all sections of society without
exception. The demands and expectations of the people of
the city of Makassar for the quality of life of "Makassar
Dua Kali Tambah Baik" is becoming increasingly urgent
due to the Covid-19 which at the same time adds to the
demand for a strong city immunity and for the better
Makassar City's Future.
