Migration is the movement of people from one place to another.

Migration can
be within a country or between countries. Migration can be permanent,
temporary or seasonal. Migration happens for a range of reasons. These can be
economic, social, political or environmental. Human patterns of movement
reflect the conditions of a changing world and impact the cultural landscapes of
both the places people leave and the places they settle.

The following are the types of migration

Internal migration: is the movement of people within a state, country, or


continent. Example of internal migration can be can be rural to rural migration
and this is due to marriage ceremony and working as agricultural laborers are
the two main reason for this migration. Rural to urban this is YouTube search of

and enjoyment sentence. Also there is a urban to urban movement this is caused
by searching for most better opportunities and higher and standard of living.
Urban to rural migration which type of migration occurred at high level of
urbanization when cities are characterized by overcrowding and overpopulation
and high living cost mostly caused by retirement

External migration: moving to a different state, country, or continent. And it is


categorized into three groups which are emigration, immigration and refugee
migration. Emigration is the type of migration where people leave one country
to the other also this can be done within a country it can also mean leaving one
place to move to another. Also immigration is the type of movement which
people enter into a certain country or region and also can be done within a
country last type of movement is called refugee migration this is the type of
migration where my people move from one country to another by force and a
factor which caused to this kind of migration is war, hunger famine and natural
disasters and calamities.

The following are the causes of migration in Tanzania and are categorized
into four factors.

Economic Factor; this involves both pull Factor and push factor. Push factor
these are factors which Influence People to leave one area to another in
Tanzania which affect the most are from Lulu to urban movement people leave
rural areas due to poverty and low income from agricultural activities. Pull
factors this are factors which attracted people from another area example in
Tanzania people move from rural areas to urban areas searching for a good
social services example one can move from other regions to major cities in
major cities in Tanzania search Mwanza Dodoma Tanga Mbeya, Arusha due to
improved factors than other regions.

Demographic factors; involve increase of population rate in one area to


another so rate of population determined by birth rate or fertility rate as well
migration in Tanzania rate of population tends to increase more faster in rural
than urban so this forces large population movement from rural to urban as well
marriages is one cause for migration because always females follow their
spouses to area where they need to dwell.

Political factors;some politicians tends to move either from rural to urban to


fetch for different political positions likewise to movement of politicians who
tends to move from urban to rural area also some political conflicts and mis
understandings forces peoples to move from one area to another so political
issues are one factor which determine or cause an immigration

Miscellaneous factors ;This are unique factors which found in only place and
not otherwise so this force peoples to move from one area to another where such
advantage are found example peoples they move from rural urban for education
for friends and other relatives as well as health and some time peoples move in
mining areas, fishing which are only found in area area so miscellaneous factor
also are cause of migration

Socio-cultural factors; This are also cause of migration such as family


conflicts, seek for independence example many youths needed to move places
where there is improved communication facilities such as transportation,
televisions, the cinemas and need for urban oriented education and resultant
change in altitudes and values also promote migration.

The following are the impacts of migration in Tanzania

There are both positive impacts and negative impacts and occurs in both
people immigrated and emigrated area

Urbanization process are mostly influenced by population which may


rulted by migration so there is direct relationship between urbanization
and migration
