fish.

C. Dynamite fishing is the practice of using explosives to


stun or kill schools of fish for easy collection. It is bad
because it creates a wave of destruction. It not only

threatens coral reefs, but it also leads to a decline in
fish populations, affects coastal communities and small
fisheries trying to compete with industrial trawlers, and
has a negative impact on the tourist industry.

1. The background of the author is also relevant because it
adds legitimacy and weight to what they say. In the area
they're writing about the author needs to be informed,
either by their research or personal experience.
2. Context clues are the words and sentences that surround a
word and help explain the word's meaning. Context clues
are hugely important because their comprehension and
effective usage leads to academic success. They can
increase the child's vocabulary, reading comprehension,
and make children better readers.
3. Yes, it is important to be socially aware with what you
write and read because it may be too sensitive or it
could hurt feelings. In any kind of situation, you must
be socially aware in order to interact with the readers
and writers in a proper and efficient manner.
4. Yes, language styles is important in writing to interact
with the readers and in order to understand the meaning
of the text and what the writer’s purpose or idea it
conveys.

Biographical Context or “Authorial Context”

1. The article was all about the struggles, anxieties and


conflict he observes during this pandemic.
2. The author of the text is part of the young professionals
in the society who talked about his experience while
travelling for work at night.
3. I can infer that the author’s job is a frontliner.

4. The author contemplates what life has been on his train
of thoughts. He might felt scared nervous because of the
conflicts, struggles and anxieties that he experienced.
5. The present situation affect a lot of us and especially
the author who works as a frontliner and might be exposed
to viruses. It brought a lot of struggles to go to work
since you need to pass the check point before he could go
to his work.

Linguistic Context

1. Based on the song, the author lives in his hometown which is


Iloilo and resides along or near the beach.
2. Happy and proud are the words that can be described as the
mood of the story based on the author’s way of conveying the
message through its language style of writing.
3. Being proud, humble and happy were the Ilonggo traits are
being highlighted in the song.
4. Banwa kong nahamut-an; Ikaw ang guintunaan sang kalipayan;
Ilonggo ako nga tunay; Nga nagapuyo sa higad sang baybay;
Bug-os ang kalipay these were some of the words or lines in
the song that supports the author’s feeling of pride of her
hometown.

Socio-cultural Context
1. The blog was all about the children struggled to live
their dreams but despite the hindrances, setbacks and
dangers, the children continued to work hard for their
dreams.
2. The overflowing river took the lives of the 6 young
children who wanted to cross through it during rainy day
in order for them to get home.
3. Each morning, they had to walk for almost two hours to
get to school. They wear a pair of calloused soles. They
don’t even have umbrellas or raincoats to protect them
from rain. They packed their uniforms and shoes in
plastic bags as they travel to go to school and just wear
them if they reached school. When the rivers were too
strong, they would wait for it to get calmer. When the
lightning got too scary, they’d hide amongst the trees.

4. Hiligaynon and English were the languages used in the
literary piece.
5. Being determined and having a positive outlook in life
were the Filipino characteristics are shown in the answer
of the children to the author.
6. Life is full of challenges, your status is not a
hindrance to achieve your goals and dreams in life just
look for the brighter side and take them as a positive
outlook to strive more and work hard for your dreams.
Don’t lose hope just continue to work hard for your
dreams because a better future is waiting for you.
7. The author’s purpose in posting/creating the blog is to
give readers realizations and to inspire people about the
children who work hard to achieve their dreams.

CONTEXUALIZATION
1. A boy and girl teenagers were the characters in the poem.
2. They went to the stream to fetch water.
3. The lifestyle of the people in the poem was simple since they
were using banga and bayong in fetching water.
4. I didn’t experienced to fetch water using the banga and
bayong but as I recall in the past few years, we are using
banga to store water and drink from it. Bayong and banga were
used for storing and fetching water.
5. Simplicity and being gentleman or caring were the Filipino
traits that are manifested in the poem.
6. If I were the young man, I would help the young woman fetch
water. It shows the characteristic of being a gentleman.
7. If I were the young women I would not allow the young man to
help me because I can do it by myself.
8. The banga symbolizes how fragile women are and the bayong
symbolizes as being aggressive trait of a man.
9. In the last stanza the message suggests through the message
conveyed by the words in which it gives us advice or reminder
that we women should be careful and be aware of our actions.
Don’t be easily fall into the words or actions of men who we
do not know if their intentions are good or bad.
10. The theme of the poem is about the lifestyle traits of
Filipino and also as awareness. The author’s purpose is to
grab the readers’ attention to make them laugh and understand
the meaning and message of the poem.

2. It helps us interact and creates relationship with
the readers; It helps us communicate your point of
view making it easy to understand for others very
clearly.
3. As a student, I can enhance my comprehension and
enrich my reading skill through reading and deeply
understanding the message of the text. By writing a
summary of what I’ve read and come up with
questions about the text could also help in
enriching and improve my vocabulary.
